I have only one word for the look of this recipe, YUM! Great tip on using the forks for adding the cinnamon crumble to the cake. I'll have to remember that. Thanks for the recipe...
Easy and delicious! This is the first cake made to fight for the corner pieces because the brown sugar/butter topping pools up around the edges and makes a yummy chewy extra bite. Also my husband and I aren’t too big on glaze, so I made a half recipe and didn’t use all of that; just enough for a pretty drizzle. Perfect for us! Thanks for the recipe.

Just made it and came out perfect. Don’t know how it came out that way because I didn’t have enough regular flour. Only one cup so I had to make up difference with cake flour. Also no buttermilk so used sour cream. I tried a piece without the glaze and decided to leave that way to cut down on sugar in diet.

Just measure out the cup and a half then take out a tablespoon and a half of the milk and replace that tablespoon and a half with either lemon juice or white vinegar and mix well. Let it set for about five minutes then you can use it. This adds some acid to the milk and is a substitute for buttermilk. It isn’t quite as good but it works in a pinch.
Where do I find that size baking pan? I looked on your website which said I could make it in an 8 x 8 pan or a loaf pan if I double the recipe but that defeats the purpose of making a small batch.
I baked this in a 13x9 inch glass pan. There should be a link to a baking dish that size under the heading ‘Supplies Used’ in the blog post. These pans can usually be found on Amazon.
It really needs to be a more acidic liquid (for the best texture and because of the other ingredients in the cake), so buttermilk is best, but If you can't get it, you can substitute with this sour milk recipe: For every one cup of buttermilk called for, fill a measuring cup with 1 cup regular milk, take out 1 tablespoon and replace it with 1 tablespoon lemon juice or white vinegar and stir well. It’s not going to sub out exactly right in this recipe because essentially 3 cups of it would be adding in 3 teaspoons of baking powder and this recipe only calls for 2 teaspoons and also calls for 1 teaspoon of baking soda (which is needed because buttermilk is an acid). If you then went and just added in a teaspoon of baking soda, that would possibly be too much leavening and may have a soapy taste because of too much baking soda. Essentially what I’m saying is it’s not going to be the same if you use self rising flour but if you’d like to experiment using it, feel free to do so but do not add in the baking powder and salt listed in the recipe and probably only add in about 1/4 teaspoon to a 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda instead of the full teaspoon. I have not experimented with this though so I can’t tell you if it will turn out.
I bought it directly off the KA website. They call it the ‘textured’ ceramic bowl. It’s a little less white than my white mixer so just be aware of that in case the difference would bother you.

Good. A bit crumbly. Center collapsed. Avoid putting topping globs to n center of the cake. Like cinnamon but a tablespoon is max.
If the center collapsed, it’s possible it may have needed to bake a little longer. Ovens vary. Not sure why that happened to you though.
