One of the best ever to sing the blues. Happy that I was blessed to grow up in the era with an appreciation for this music. In rural Louisiana we were exposed to blues early. It was playing every Friday and Saturday night at all of the local Juke Joints.
I'm 37 and I've been listening to him since birth for real. Mostly because my great Grandparents used to listen to him all the time when I was younger. We lived in the Chicago Projects back then, may they rest in peace Essie May & Thomas Collins of Mississippi.🥰🥰
One of my baby girl’s favorite songs. She received her heavenly wings in July 2017. Play and listen to it in her honor! Thank you Sir Johnnie Taylor for keeping this one around! 💞🙏🏾😇‼️
In the early eighties at a niteclub in Inglewood California called "Bishops Five Torches" was where Mr.Johnny Taylor once performed. I helped with the lighting for the little stage we had. There were several great entertainers that came through. Mr. Bobby Womack, Mr. Tyrone Davis, Charles Wright and the 103rd street band, just to name a few. R.I.P. Mr. Johnny Taylor.

The "BADDEST OF THE BAD". Nobody could or ever will do it like Johnnie. His voice charm, and charisma will live on forever, and that voice is forever etched in my mind. As a blues performer, I sing a lot of his songs. My collection of his music is awesome. R.I.P. Johnnie!! (JOE B. CUTCHINS, JR.)
It looked like something was thrown at him and hit on the leg? Whoever did that I hope it was in fun, I watched a documentary about this man, in the early 70's he was busted in Jamaica while he was on tour there, when the police busted his door down( the documentary doesn't state why) they found a bag of weed, a pair of brass knuckles, and a 38 revolver, what in the hell was going in his life at that time????
Sang it Johnnie !!! My Uncle Julius and I used to rock this song at every Lane College Homecoming back in the day. Rest in love Johnnie Taylor and Uncle Julius Bradley.

JT was a favorite from my childhood. He sang lead along with Sam Cook for the Soul Stirrers, a gospel group. He always brought the show with him! It was just second nature for him to take the stage, and pull you into what he was singing. That band? Red scalding hot! Love this!!!!
Great song. We used to cover it in LA Blues Clubs. Black Speedy our keyboardist and tenor brought us the song. Speedy had great diction and style. The audience hung on to every word of the story. Song is so underrated but you need a real personable and powerful frontman to pull it off. This video is a real treat. Johnny is amazing as he casts his spell. Thank you for sharing this!
