I grew up on the Blues, Soul R&B, Jazz and Gospel music. The Blues is the incarnation and creator of ALL of it, from the slaves singing in the fields to Jim Crow laws, to the Civil Rights marches and so on. Latimore is a great singer!

My pops bumping this loud at his garage while working on people cars was my childhood. I heard all kind of blues blasting from that shop and still to this day. He's in his 70s and still doing it. Fixing on cars and listening to blues is big here in Mississippi.

On this day in 1974 {November 30th} Latimore performed "Let's Straighten It Out" on the Dick Clark ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'...
At the time the song was in it's first of two weeks at #31 on Billboard's Hot Top 100, that was also it's peak position on the chart, and it spent twelve weeks on the Top 100...
    And on October 27th it reached #1 {for 2 weeks} on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart...
Between 1974 and 1980 he had twelve records on the Hot R&B Singles chart, three made the Top 10, besides "Let's Straighten It Out", his other two Top 10 records were "Keep the Home Fires Burnin'" {#5 in 1975} and "Somethin' 'Bout 'Cha" {#7 in 1977}...
Latimore, born Benjamin Latimore, celebrated his 78th birthday two months ago on September 7th {2017}...
