This is the new Skoda Enyaq!
It’s fair to say that in 2021 electric SUVs are a bit like small, crossover SUVs have been for the past few years… They’re everywhere!! Almost every major manufacturer has an EV SUV available to buy, so does the Enyaq offer enough to stand out from the crowd?
Well when it comes to performance, there are two options to choose from - the entry level ’60’, or the ’80’. They both come with RWD, and the 60 provides 180hp from a single electric motor along with a claimed range of 256 miles from a 62kWh battery pack.
As for the 80, it’s also powered by a single electric motor, although this one offers 204hp, while the larger 82kWh battery pack will apparently provide you with 333 miles of range!
As for the interior, it’s certainly more than impressive, and your focus will be immediately drawn to the 13-inch infotainment screen which comes with all models. You'll also find smart digital driving display dials, and good quality materials throughout the majority of the cabin.
But is it enough? You’ll have to keep watching to find out!

@@matemayer4850 Agreed. I was actually considering the Enyaq but the plastic grill looks horrible to me. The top trim with the illuminated grill is even worse. Why would anyone want to draw attention to a grill that has no function whatsoever? I'm glad there are so many alternatives to electric cars these day though
Parents with (smaller) children are glad the backdoorpanels don't have the same soft materials as the frontdoorpanels. Skoda also understands the doorgrip shouldn't have it either. Simply Clever.
So true
Or maybe ”Simply Cheap”
@@affordsled or maybe "Simply Troll"
@@lecsu131 if you pay 50 000 Euros for a car you deserve to get soft touch materials on the back door panels too. Everything else is cutting corners. Surely is a decent EV, but far from that premium price tag build wise.
@@affordsled I have a 34k Euro Skoda Octavia 3 combi 4x4 diesel. I got this car to haul around my family, dog, trailer and quite often building materials and all sorts of cargo (for my house). I am a typical Skoda client imo. I don't want anything soft anywhere except the chairs. I bought this car for its reliability, mileage and capabilities. It has 200k km on it and i have only changed oils and filters so far. If i wanted soft stuff all over, for the same amount i could've gotten an Audi. I went to ikea yesterday and got a garden bench and i hated the fact that it was touching the roofliner and was leaving marks on it because it is soft. And I also got a couple of wooden posts and it was touching the bach of the folded down bench and was leaving sawdust on that (soft). That's why it's Simply Clever - it is clever for its intended target. Instead of soft all over i prefer my factory webasto heating, factory hitch, factory hooks and anchor points, 2000kg towing capacity, amazing mileage, almost no maintenance costs, etc.
Why TF we have cars in 2021 with laggy display?
I can’t work this out either. It’s pretty stupid!
Cause Skoda (which belongs to VAG VW Audi Group) wanted to develop the software in house. And that backfired hard cause they had no expirience in Software development. Also their Infotainment was garbage in the first years.
Welcome at VW 😂
I have Cupra and infotainment sucks.
I think this looks so much smarter than the VW EVs!

Much better looking both inside and outside than an ID.4
Really not hard to look better than any of those ID cars. They look terrible
True
It is so difficult to tell which one is uglier. Am I the only one who wants to remain in the past regarding cars?🤔
I thought so too, but then I actually saw the ID.4 in the showroom - It looks much better in the flesh (or metal) ...Still I suppose the Skoda could too so we'd be back to square one again. ID.4 1st edition is cheaper than the Enyaq 80 though (kit for kit) but lack some of the Skoda details - It's a tougher choice than I thought.
@@garyallsopp6369 And the other thing to take note on is the Touch sensitive buttons on the ID 3 & 4, they're not fun to use as all reviewers have said. By the looks of it, Volkswagen decided it was better to put physical, clicky buttons on the "Cheaper" Skoda which ironically is gonna make them sell more of the Skoda than the two Volkswagens coming for sale
15:18 The ice scraper is now on the inside of the boot lid (you can kinda see it at 16:14 above Mat’s head).

Good that they found a place for it, but I haven't used an ice scraper since I got an electric car. Just turn on the demist from the phone app and there's no ice when you get to the car 😎
What a way to put it into words what I've been thinking lately when switching to VW Passat GTE and shuffling between D and B modes (coasting and regen). Well said!
Didn't saw no pop up banners. 😑
Liked the video though.
In my country that Skoda won't be less than 35k €. Just guessing...
Keep up the good work Matt and have fun for us also! 😉
Matt,
The ice scraper is in the Boot lid, because if you Charge the car somebody could steal it!
Great Review!
And as ever on a Skoda, the ice scraper is also both a magnifying glass as well as a tyre tread depth guage as well as just something to scrape the windows with!
Ah! I wondered why they had moved it. 👍
@@colinduncan1530 and for watching a solar eclipse 🤣
Aah... simply clever ;).
Watched a Whatcar video about longevity of batteries with several EV's. The had two VWs with the only difference between them was one had a heatpump. Their test (a late winter range test) if the heatpump is optional it isn't worth the cost for what you will get back from energy savings - even if you are charging with expensive public chargers.
That's a pretty nice interior for the entry level model. I love the fabric materials in the dash and arm rest too.
This definitely gives the id.4 a run for it's money - the Enyaq is top of my list for my first EV.
Mine is probably going to be IONIQ 5
@@JTordur good shout! looks lovely and with Korean tech plus 5 year warranty, it's got to right up there 👍
I mean it is an id.4 underneath, so it should
Boo EV get a sports car. When you drive an EV, you will get instant regret because there is no exhaust note, and you can’t shift gears. EVs are pointless
@Alpha Bravo what. Electric cars are great! Because of all the space from no engine, transmission, and driveshaft, they can be very practical and spacious inside. I like all cars, and I don’t understand why electric cars get hated.
Awesome video.I love all your vids mat! Me and my Dad used to watch your videos every day! We preferred the drag races and especially the Porsche 911 which I always begged him to get one. 19/20 inch wheels are great until you need a new tyre and they cost more than the monthly for the car 😅

the sizes are big 235/55 on r19 and 235/50 on r20 which is big and comfy , they only loose on price , the wheels on electric cars need to be big cause they at like a gear for the cars , and big and thin is efficient and not more noisy than small and wide

I’m Impressed, Well done Skoda
Škoda
Skoda’s first electric SUV has a charging port that hides behind a cover, much like a fuel filler flap.
When charging, the cover has to remain open, meaning the prized ice scraper could be easily stolen.
The Simply Clever solution is, unsurprisingly, rather simple. Skoda has moved the ice scraper to a special compartment inside the tailgate, keeping it safe but still accessible.
Its called research Matt!!!
Adrian, the news about that Skoda actually moved the ice scraper to that special compartment area, was first hand news here in Sweden. Last week Swedish Television had a special Skoda ice scraper theme the whole evening. In the studio was special guests invited like motor journalists, some Skoda representivs, the Nobel winner in the "Ice Scraper Premium Development" category; Miss Coldy Skrapersdottir from Iceland. A lot of people in the audience became very agressive during the evening, with many questions to the Skoda people. One woman was crying the whole time, repeting loudly "Skoda what have you done, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE????" And one elderly man said "Please Skoda, that original place for the ice scraper was a HOLY and sacred place for many of us". The evening suddenly ended when the Skoda representives had to leave thru the back door escorted by the security guards. And the next day the Czech Republic ambassador in Stockholm was told to "Immediate go back home".
What a mess, OMG...
Thank you Matt for this review. I must say, I was a little bit surprised too, about the missing ice scrapper since that is indeed one of the "Simply Clever" additions vs. it's brotherhood from VW, thus I'm glad that you found one being hidden in an unexpected place.
Skoda is definetly my favorite car from now and beyond!!!
Great vid 👍🏼 I really like the styling, well proportioned and gives the car good road presence.
Glad you found the ice scraper 👍🏼 There’s also a funnel built into the screenwash reservoir to stop the water from going everywhere when you fill it 😉

The Enyaq EV was in my short list. This is a very practical car. The problem, as you described, there are so may optional extras. Every time I start with the base version and start adding the extras the price climbs to 50k. Skoda should have fewer variations like ID.4 to make the choice simple. At the moment I cannot justify £50K on this car.

Interesting how the interior is so much better than the iD4 despite being the same company. Would much rather have this
Id4 is swinging for the fences to try and wow people. This is more conventional. After id4 they will switch up and get in line. I think the id4 is overambitious and a miss, but I commend the attempt to differentiate. The ioniq 5 looks fantastic.
