The curved edge of the ice scraper is just to break through a thicker layer of ice. Once you can get under the ice, flip the back boy round and use that flat black edge. It’s the best ice scraper I’ve ever had, providing you know how it use it…

The blank screen is a known issue for the VW group. Happens in my Arteon all the time and the dealership doesn't want to acknowledge the issue. Carplay also disconnects frequently. I have a workaround that doesn't envolve turning the car off and back on: press and hold the power off button on the infotainment for 10 seconds. Not until it shows the clock. No. Just press and hold depressed and after some 20 seconds, the entire unit reboots and it is back in action. At least until it happens again.

It appears to be a VW problem, not a Skoda problem. Never had the issue myself. Don't know why that is but it's one reason I got the Enyaq instead of an ID. Better interior and pretty much everything else. After nearly 40 cars (from Austin 1100 to Porsche 911) I can say it's up there in my top 3.

Hello from Norway! Rory you are the autoking of the motor journalists. Bought the Skoda Citigo 18 months ago as a cheap runaround, we live on a mountain farm 23 km from the nearest shops and the missus had a 60 km working commute. My good lady has astonishingly covered nearly 20 K km, the wee Skoda has saved us a bunch of krona, now we are both pensioners we are looking to swap the Citigo for an Enyaq, after they have fixed that screen and we need the AWD for winter. Most impressed with the Citigo, a fantastic little electric that gives us 270 km per charge in summer. Keep up the great reporting Rory, you are always worth it! PS when the going gets rough we have an old Toyota pickup, and for long journeys my 1991 200D Mercedes gets us, slowly, to our destinations. Keeping it simple! Cheers, Alex.

I can't believe Rory couldn't work out how to use the ice scraper! Use the black edge Rory, it's actually really good! Other Skodas store it in the fuel flap but obviously that would just get nicked whilst charging on the Enyaq, so they've moved it to the boot lid. It's also got a tyre tread depth guage on one corner. Simply clever!

Never learn about the screen blackout issue? I’ve just taken delivery of an Enyaq and absolutely love it, styling, quality and practicality are spot on. I love the ambient lighting inside which you can personalise including ‘Skoda’ puddle lights. Mine is on the 21in wheels too and I agree ride quality is remarkable. It also handles really well thanks to its very low centre of gravity and good weight distribution. I like how configurable it is with a great range of options that ensures you can have exactly the features you want, but not the ones you don’t want!
The ice scraper doubles as a magnifying glass and you’re using the wrong edge of it, the others are square! You might need it on an icy day, not everyone will charge their car every night so might not want to wake the car up before they’re planning to use it.

We've had this car for a year, having come from a 335d I've not missed the performance. What I've gained is size with the same quality, the screen froze sometimes in the BMW too, when it's hot inside it's likely to freeze. I've had over 4Kwh just about every time I drive it between Apr-Oct yes in the cold it's more like 3kwh.
Not fussed about public charge costs so long as you're not doing over 250 miles a day. I've heard people say when we go to France or when we go to Devon.... That's not every day is it? I'd recommend an EV and this car particularly especially if you have off-street parking if you are reliant on public charging and do distances then perhaps EVs are not for you right now that said you can charge often over 100kw now so again but an issue.
The main thing is that Skoda have got it right, he's right you get in it and it's easy to drive and like you've been driving it for years.
I'm looking to change cars and take advantage of salary sacrifice with my new job and I don't think for the money I can get anything better. Perhaps the EV6.

My 2016 Zoe does about 70 miles of range in Winter and 90 in Summer, so I can't use it to visit my parents who are a 1.5hr motorway drive away but I can commute to work on the daily and do all my local runabout shopping etc without a worry here in South Manchester. I also recharge it on my driveway and that's usually every other day.
I DREAM of a car which does 215 miles at WORST. Most people focus too much on range when they will rarely need to drive 200 miles on the daily anyway. Of course, value for money is the actual factor. If you can get more range in a comparable EV for a similar price then the Enyaq isn't good value even if 200 miles is more than enough.

Worth buying? After 14 months and over 14k miles with a 60 I would thoroughly recommend it. We got 3.1 m/kWh on the coldest winter days (max potential range 180 miles) and a steady 4.0 m/kWh in the months June to end September (232 miles). Yes the charging infrastructure is expensive but we’ve only needed it twice and for minimal top ups. Octopus energy Go tariff 5p /kWh (7.5p for new joiners) for four hours during the night means we’re paying between 1.25 and 1.7p/ mile. It’s saving us over £2k a year and, due to the shortage of even second hand electric cars, is probably worth at least what we paid for it (£35.5k after £3k gov grant) even with 14k miles on the clock. And everything Rory said about how great it is to drive is true. We’ve had no software issues. Just a reversing camera that is useless at night - common problem.

I am glad you liked it, but I see those cars pretty much everywhere around here and considering the VW quality of infotainment I would not have nerves to deal with it every day - like for some reason Google Maps voice navigation just stopped working and only Apple Maps works. Even with their, not yet released, new version it still fairly bad + the efficiency is mediocre, everything you want in a car is extra (like a heat pump) and it's incredibly heavy.
But I really dig the design of the front grille - the LED version, that was a nice touch to otherwise boring version of ID.4/Cupra Born.
I hope VW introduces new or improve ID.4 platform significantly in future. But I would personally love to see a new version of EV Golf, that was an interesting concept ... and not just another SUV.

The thing about big wheels is they do help straddle the pot holes and sunken drains which in the UK is a big necessity nowadays. I feel much safer with them myself especially when driving in the dark. This seems very like the Kamiq which I own which is a brilliant car in most ways. The hatch pull is awkward and the only other problem is the awful video screen even when working if you want to adjust ventilation and I find I need my wife as a co-pilot to navigate around it whilst I concentrate on the road. It is odd how they will pull you over for taking a swig from a water bottle on the move but nose down playing a computer game to spot the control which used to be a physical button is OK. I also switch off eco start which I would not need to in electric. Works fine in a manual but in an automatic the engine starting and the car engaging gear simultaneously is alarming to say the least when moving on to a road in terms of delay and transmission durability. The satellite navigation is poor also constantly telling me to do u turns or go down single track roads yet when I go down my chosen route travel time decreases. I would love this car but way out of reach in price. I think electric makes sense as a small basic car in a 2 car family but not yet as a main means of transport on a budget.
