I feel the same about doing my nails, it's my "gift to me" time. Every Sunday, I look at my scheduled events, check the weather forecast, and choose my outfits of the week. Based on my clothes, I select a complementary nail polish. I give myself a mani-pedi (yes, I do my toes even if I'm not wearing open shoes) while I drink tea and listen to an audio book or podcast. It's 100% me time, and I look forward to it all week long. PS--I wait much longer between coats, probably 5 minutes or so. I think allowing the polish to dry a bit more helps the manicure last. I redo mine weekly, as I mentioned, but I can go to 10 days with no chips and just a little bit of tip wear. Also, I reapply top coat around day 3 or 4 in order to extend the longevity of my work.
@@arshiamoorjani It's Sunday, and I am, as usual, doing my nails and enjoying my "me" time! This week, I'm wearing Zoya's "Rekha", a beautiful medium red that is neither too orange nor too blue. It's vivid without being "too much" for the workplace. Days are starting to warm up, so I felt it was time to retire the burgundies and mauves I have been wearing in favor of something lighter and less moody. Thank you for the nice comment. Have a great week!
Oh my word your routine sounds identical to mine and I also look forward to it soooo much - mine is on a Friday and I always drink tea whilst doing them. I also do my feet even if I'm not wearing sandals ( I need to know they're done :) ). I wait 10-12 mins between each coat and can go 7-10 days but I like to do them every Friday. I also like to colour co-ord based on my rings and clothing !
I love doing my nails. I'm completely nail obsessed and my nail routine is my weekly Friday ritual. I soak them in olive oil, exfoliate with sugar, apply hand mask gloves and then start my new nail colour and design for the week. I used to do gel nails for 15 years and eventually I got an allergic reaction to the glue and ABS tips, so I just decided to start caring for my own nails and now they grow super long, longer than the tips I used to apply. Love your video, its very similar to mine :)
Interesting idea on the water with salt, and towel underneath. One thing I do very different from you is file the nails with the old polish still on. This way, I can create exactly what I want to see when they are polished again :)
I do my own mani/pedis most of the time and it is so relaxing! Just a quick tip: use a Q-tip with some nail polish remover on it to easily wipe away any excess polish around the edges of your nails 🙂
This was a great mani tutorial! I find a liquid/gel cuticle remover to be essential. The cuticle is very sticky and hard to remove, so using just a cuticle pusher dry may not get rid of all that dead skin, and while you may think you’re being gentle, it’s very easy to “dent” the nail because you’re not working with any slip. Also, people often confuse the cuticle with the area that’s actually living tissue. Using a remover will really ensure all the dead skin is removed, so there’s no over cutting in the cuticle area. I also like to use a crystal file, and make sure to file in one direction only so my nails don’t split or peel.
I always put cuticle oil and then a nail and hand cream after buffing and before applying the base coat. This just keeps the nails healthy and give an extra layer of protection from the nail polish.
On some people, oily nails is why their manicure chips and doesn't last, it's usually recommended to have dry nails if you want your manicure to last long
This was a very cute video! Some times I will wait an hour after drying without touching anything and then go to sleep and there will be imprints in my nails! Any advice?
The best tip is to wait for each layer to dry to the touch before applying the next one. If you’re applying polish on top of a layer that hasn’t dried yet, it’s going to “trap” that wet polish and only the very top layer will feel dry (but somewhat squishy) to you. Another thing I use once I’m done is an aerosol nail polish dryer spray, I know you can find it at Sally’s or probably any beauty supply. Hope that helps!
I found if you dry out the nails with polish remover before painting your nails, it smudges much less. I used to have exactly the same issue.

Use a quick-dry topcoat 😊 My favorite is INM Out The Door Topcoat but many people like Seche Vite Dry Fast Topcoat too. Also, CND Vinylux Weekly Topcoat and CND Air Dry Topcoat and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri are great too! 😊 I've also heard good things about Essie Gel Setter/Essie Speed Setter, however, I haven't tried them yet.
I have been painting my own nails for many years (maybe 44 years now) but have discovered a few years ago about fast drying top coats. I started with seche vite then found Glisten & Glow fast drying top coat. It's the very best!
Loving this video even before watching! You definitely give the people what they want. I've said it before and I'll say it again your nails are perfection 😍😍😍
I literally just finished doing my Mani, I am watching this while it dries. If I had opened UA-cam earlier I wld have been doing it with you..I love doing my nails, so this is my kinda vid 🙂
I’m binge watching old videos Hahahaha I absolutely loved this tutorial. I’m trying learn how to paint my own nails and slowly getting better at it. Will definitely try using a base coat because I wasn’t doing that first
oh no! the water is going to cause chipping of the nails! 😭 the water gets in your nail bed and then causes chipping! you should check out olive and june’s tips!
I think its funny how many women have bought into "self-care" and the examples are always focused on the exterior and beauty routine. "FOR YOURSELF" ....um no, not unless you look in the mirror 24-7. Self care is not a manicure, a diet , a workout , a face mask, a tan , a bikini wax, or makeup. That is "appearance upkeep" for the benefit of those who look at you. Self care is not overextending yourself, journaling, reading, removing some toxins from your life, taking a nap, going to therapy to heal past abuse.
While I agree with you about journaling, reading, therapy etc. about being self care (and I do all of those), taking care of yourself physically is also a form of self care :) Its not about looking at yourself 24/7, my idea with this video is to encourage others to do something small for themselves. xo
Wow you go all out on your nails! Enjoyed watching was relaxing. Got some ideas great job. M lucky just to get some polish on my nails lol! Still waiting on the plant one 💚👍
Hello Arshia! What polish were you wearing during the introduction? It's beautiful. You and I have similar skin color, so if you made a video of your favorite shades, it'd be so helpful and appreciated!
@@arshiamoorjani You are so kind, writing back to give me the shade name! I have Fiji, and I love it, but it looks a lot less pink on your video/against your skin than IRL/against mine. I have a similar Essie color, Romper Room, that is ever so slightly whiter and more neutral. If you like Fiji, you might like that one too. Much appreciated!
Your nails are so pretty. Started following you on insta and I would have totally guessed you get professional manicures. I can’t deal with pushing back cuticles...looks so painful
Arshia Moorjani I skip it altogether. Last time I got a manicure I was like don’t do anything to my cuticles. Why do they push it back? It’s not suppose to be good for the nail bed I thought and in my experience leads to discoloration especially when done harshly. Btw love your content! Started following for the p&l giveaway and stayed because I love everything you share. I love your surprise giveaways but hate tagging people 🙈 lol I wanna win not decrease my chances 😂
Nice nails and video!! I always have a problem drying my nail polish... Even though I wait for each coat to dry up about 30minutes, they won't dry properly. After a night's my nails are messed up.. Do you have any tips to prevent this?
M Chauhan hi mom! So am I... it’s the best but hardest role in the 🌍. DO try and find time for yourself.. it’s an investment. X my friend just launched her channel brushed momma do check her out x

Beautiful hands!😊
Love the color. Its my staple
Gel polish is specifically designed to wear without a base coat. That’s the whole point of it. Also, it’s better to polish your dominant hand first.
Thanks for the tips now I feel like doing my nails lol just be careful when filing you need to go in one direction helps keep the nail from breaking

Does buffing remove the ridges on your nails?
It does but removes layer of your nail which will make them thin and brittle. :( please invest in a ridge filling base coat if you have an issues. :>
