My mother passed 35 yrs ago when I was 18. She was Jumano / Kiowas. If you believe the history books, she was extinct before she was even born in 1923. She taught me to ride horses, hunt, fish, and farm. To appreciate what the Rio Grande valley, and the world had to offer, what mother nature shared with us - both the beauty and the hard work. Most of all she taught me to have an open mind . To love and respect all peoples. Thank you for this song, is beautiful.
Your mother is my hero with all of those skills. I would have loved to met her. Hopefully in my next life.

My grandfather is 89, he is soon to pass, I have felt it in my bones since 3 months ago, my mother has been so depressed, she does not understand that what she has been feeling is her spirit having to let go of my grandfather. She is his daughter. My mother is an only child. His blood runs through her to this day with the cries of our ancestors, it is such a beautiful experience though, because this love between my grandfather and my mother still holds so strong. ❤ I am grateful that my grandfather is my grandfather for eternity. I am grateful for Great Spirit and All He Has Done.

My baby girl is leaving to college next year and the tears could not stop when I was watching this. This is exactly what I want my daughter to know. I don’t want her to go but she must. This is not my culture but this is the best send off to any love one who’s about to embark on a long Journey or rite of passage. Absolutely, magically, beautiful.

One of the women that helped me get through and to learn to stand on my own, is my Native mom. We aren't related but she stepped up and took me in as a teenager. Taught me her culture and so much more. She brought out the best of me even for a little while. She visited me today. She traveled so far to come see my grandmother and I after my grandfather passed away in this January.💖 I love my moms, my birth mother, my grandma, and my Navajo mom. 💖

The tradition, clothes and mother and daughter are really beautiful:) OMG, I just thought that in my country thousands of people roam in tundra herding reindeer, and young teens of the girl's age already put up chums, make a fire, cook, sew fur coats for the family, put reindeer into a team, know how to manage them during roaming... and, of course they study all the 14 mandatory subjects at school, from native language to astronomy and higher mathematics... Heroic people, really!

Take her to the annual powwow if possible......once there a reunion will happen. She'll be amongst her people.
