No rivalry, no gangsters, no drug dealers, no fake life, no cocaine, no bullshit. just pure quality musicians that are so happy singing and showing brotherly love.
@1:35 when Levi said "Shut up Melvin!" I almost died!!! :-) They did so well on their collaboration in 1983 that 2 years later they decided to do it again. I'm glad I was able to witness their greatness! Sad to say but everyone you see here with the exception of two people are gone :'-( But they left behind music that will last until the end of time.
Obrigado senhores por vocês terem existidos que tanto nós encantaram com suas músicas talentos coreografias coisa rara de se vê hoje em dia vocês serão sempre lembrados porque são lendas
I remember watching this live when I was 6 years old. My whole family sat glued to the screen. I am showing it to my children now so they can appreciate it.
Heart-breaking to realize that most of these great R&B performers on this Apollo Theatre stage are no longer with us, and this great music is not being carried on by our Black youth.
SAME! I’m only 19 but have been raised on The Temptations and Elvis Presley. I even treated my grandmother to a concert put on by a group called The Shadows of the 60s. One of the guys in the group is actually one of the guys in this video! Such beautiful music 🎶 If only I lived then to experience everything for myself, first-hand
Can't stop watching 4 Tops'Levi Stubbs going @ The Temptations' Melvin Franklin while doing their opening medley!!! Their respect & love is PRICELESS!!!! I "Can't Help Myself," from CONSTANTLY watching these beautiful working MEN DOING WHAT THEY LOVED 2 DO!!!!! deBorah Bridges from 1978 The Wiz in B'way. Love that music!!!!!
ENTERTAINMENT WITH A CAPITAL E pure gold and made poignant with so many of these great artists gone. Whilst music is played these groups will NEVER be forgotten.
I saw them, the 4 tops and the Temptations.in 2007 in London in the the Royal Albert Hall, never tire for the Motown performing. So thrilled to see them live.
I saw this lineup of The Temptations and Four Tops in Boston the same year this was broadcast. Then, a couple years later, I saw them both AGAIN. How lucky am l?...
The Four Tops put on the best show, that night!!! It had to have been rare, but the Temps weren't tight as far as the dancing went; yet the Tops were on POINT.
Motown wow amazing love these groups, I grew up listening to this music, I'm 60 now still have fond memories of this beautiful music, I wish it would rain temptations, still waters run deep, this kinda music still runs deep.
I had the good fortune to see them together in the 80s at the Pacific Amphitheater in California. That was one of the best nights of music I have ever witnessed.
Danced to all of their sounds. My wife and I in our 20's in the late 60's in Okinawa. We just loved this music. Still dancing in our 70's - this is the greatest sounds for sure.
So much can be learned from these guys. The Temptations were the Prototype for every Male Singing Group or Boy Band US/UK that came after them. They are still legends in The UK and Australia. The Four Tops stayed together longer than any Male Group and Abdul "Duke" Fakir was in a UK Documentary called "I'm In A Boy Band" where they also Interviewed Tito Jackson of The Jackson Five.
I WISH I could have seen this live! Thankfully, while I was a kid growing up in the 90's, I had a mother who always listened to oldies on 101.1 WCBS FM. Happy Mother's Day Mom and to all the mothers out there!
The 4 Tops SMOKED The Temptations !!!! And they DRESSED BETTER TOO !!! (The Temps outfits looked like they bought them at K-MART!) And Earl Carroll of The Cadillacs was great TOO !!!
"Hey cut that out" No don't ever do this please! 😅 Melvin cracks me up & Obie's enthusiasm & smile are electric, he's my fave. Ron & Richard were fantastic, those high notes Ali-Ollie reaches woh, amazing. I like many of their songs but for me, Levi Stubbs was absolutely sensational. I love The Four Tops! Nice they did a take on Your Love Keeps Lifting Me - Jackie Wilson & Levi's cousin.
Levi Stubbs is one of the goats of modern rock n roll, one of the greats since end of WW2 last 70-odd years. If not the GOAT, he destroys Elvis or John Lennon in goals or stage prescence, michael jordan of rock n roll what a star. Levi Stubbs/and his cousin Jackie Wilson are superstars, who never got the same acclaim as Elvis/John Lennon/Michael Jackson/Bob Marley etc.
The way entertainers used to perform was done out of love for each group talent and not about all the division and young folks killing going on what happened to the love and respect for ones talent. DPitts. The way the Temptations and the Spinners came together in concert is the good old days of performing DPitts 🙏🙏🙏✋💖😀
No rivalry, no gangsters, no drug dealers, no fake life, no cocaine, no bullshit. just pure quality musicians that are so happy singing and showing brotherly love.
They were all on cocaine
No cocaine 😂
Kmsl you most don't know this era of music
Definitely cocaine! Maybe rivalry within, Slightly gangster, always some bullshit- but yes pure quality music!
@1:35 when Levi said "Shut up Melvin!" I almost died!!! :-) They did so well on their collaboration in 1983 that 2 years later they decided to do it again. Three, Ron Otis and Duke
Just look at Melvin dance!!! Consider the pain that man was in and he kept on moving with that big smile on his face...he's amazing!!
Mel was a true showman
@LenaHorneFan he had arthritis or something like that
Obrigado senhores por vocês terem existidos que tanto nós encantaram com suas músicas talentos coreografias coisa rara de se vê hoje em dia vocês serão sempre lembrados porque são lendas
Too bad Celebrex wasn't available until 1998.
@@joejaydee I don't know that it would have helped him. I wish there was something that would have.
This show is 32 years old - and still rocks!! -KTF

What the promoters want to promote might change, but the fundamentals are still the same.
TRUE MUSIC NEVER DIES

Mase_Boyy Quis Jackie Wilson was actually Levi Stubbs cousin. I didn't know that till the other day.
The GREATEST groups of all times, still love their music today and I'm 66 years old so I grew up with this kind of music

The motown sound the greatest sound in every town i grew up listening to this music from 1965 to the 1990's and still going strong
Prolly one of the few videos that will make me smile and cry at the same time. Truly a priceless moment.
ENTERTAINMENT WITH A CAPITAL E pure gold and made poignant with so many of these great artists gone. Whilst music is played these groups will NEVER be forgotten.
Two of the best groups to ever do it!!! Superb and the suits on stage is how ya do it my man!!! Yessah....
These bands and thier music are so smooth. Fantastic voices and classy entertainment. Truly the golden age of music that will never be equaled.
I saw them, the 4 tops and the Temptations.in 2007 in London in the the Royal Albert Hall, never tire for the Motown performing. So thrilled to see them live.
Temps & 4 tops were SPECTACULAR!!!! Their respect 4 each other is SOOOOO enlightening & great 2 C. deBora Bridges from The Wiz 1978 cast.
No tempo que tinha uma porrada de grupos vocais que não caberia todos no palco faltou vários aí ainda esses representaram todos
Feeling happy, here in Japan in 2015, just listening to this
I saw this lineup of The Temptations and Four Tops in Boston the same year this was broadcast. Then, a couple years later, I saw them both AGAIN. How lucky am l?...

Motown wow amazing love these groups, I grew up listening to this music, I'm 60 now still have fond memories of this beautiful music, I wish it would rain temptations, still waters run deep, this kinda music still runs deep.

The Four Tops can never be topped!! Obie Benson was the best dancer of all the Tops! Loved this!!
