As far as your storage problem, Steve, you can get a hold of a portable SSD raid external drive that has 2 SSDs in it and set up a RAID 1 so that any file you write to it, it one drive fails, you have a backup. I would go for about 4 to 8 TB in size, so you can edit off of it. Just an idea.

@@jasonbabila6006 I remember JB got the contract to deliver corvettes out of Bowling Green but he didn’t buy specialized trailers for them. using regular dry van the cars would bottom out every time the driver would unload one & the trailer didn’t have dedicated tye downs in the floor. so if the wooden blocks came loose the car could slide around in the trailer. this part I’m not sure about but I heard a lot of times they would end up using what ever JB hunt trailer was available.

The busses very well could have been taxis for a corporate party or something along those lines. The company I used to work for would throw a big party for the holidays in December. The sort of thing where you bring the wife for a night away, get a really nice dinner with an open bar kind of thing. They'd get you a 4-star hotel room for the night and hire a couple busses like that to taxi us back and forth from the venue and the hotel. They'd even give you half a day off paid to go get cleaned up and get to the hotel. On the flip side if you didn't go you didn't get any time off and missed out on everything. Sucked for me since I hate being around drunk people, I always ended up working overtime to cover for anyone that went.
Your laptop problem doesn't sound like a motherboard/cpu problem, it sounds like a damaged hard drive. The fact that a factory reset on the laptop cleared up the problem tells me there were damaged spots on the drive and when you did the reset it found and closed off the damaged areas. Either way the easiest solution is just to replace the laptop.
What happened to JB Hunt seems to be they decided to focus on brokering. Instead of skimming off the top of their own freight it's far more profitable to skim off of everyone else's. I'd go through their brokerage all the time but it would always be an independent showing up to haul the cargo. At least they hire proper trucks with the decency to not show up to a dedicated load with their trailer half full. Had to stop using Panther II over that.

That happened on I-71 about 30 miles north of Cincinnati. It was in either 2007 or '08. I used to run a dedicated route from Cincinnati to Pittsburgh and I actually saw the driver's legs sticking out from under his overturned trailer. I went past right before the state police got there, and there was only one local cop making everyone merge into the left lane. The truck was about 10 or 15 feet from the shoulder and laying on it's left side in the dirt. There was another truck parked on the shoulder about 100 feet north of the cop, and that guy was the one who told the dead driver about his storage door being open. What kind of total idiot tries standing on the running board of his truck while it's moving, to try and kick the door shut?

Don’t get me started on 4 wheelers that are too ‘pussified’ to accelerate proficiently from the entrance ramps in the far right lanes. Doesn’t make any sense to have to slow down a 40 ton truck every mile or two going through a shitty metro area (like St. Louis) when the extra wear and tear on your brakes is prevented, your load doesn’t shift, plus your time on the clock saved by keeping your momentum going in the center lane. Another thing, Not every “steering wheel holder” from a legitimately good trucking company has an ‘Auto Restrict’ on their license, It was the motor carrier’s decision to have Autos over manuals, because fleet insurance companies charge more for manual equipped trucks, including higher rates if the truck is not governed at 65 mph (speed limiters are garbage in my opinion). Never ever let your guard down going through St. Louis on I-270, I-70, I-44, and I-64 during the commuting hours of 4:30 am to 10:00 PM. You always have to plan ahead to stay on or exit on the correct interchanges you have to go through to get going to your destination safely and efficiently. Sure, go ahead and haggle in disagreement, because one wrong decision can put you and/or someone else 6 feet under.

Those RV's could have been leased for corporate events. Possibly they where going to be renovated for costumer's personal design. Maybe being delivered to 3 different costumer's or dealer's (used or like new). Tour's for band's will have 2-3 buses or RV's each for different use, 1 for the band, 1 for the producer/corporate and one for the stage crew (some tour's don't use buses or will only have 1 for the crew). The band bus will have a entertainment room in the front and 4-5 large sleeping room's. The producer's bus will have a couple rooms for business use and 1 or 2 rooms for sleeping. The crew bus will have 9-15 bunk's (floor to ceiling) and a couple entertainment room's, of course all will have several bathroom's and kitchenettes.

Can’t say about other companies, but back in the late 90’s had a buddy that was a trainer at England, not an OTR driver, worked at the terminal in SLC, he to,d me they taught new drivers to be the pebble in the stream, meaning let traffic flow around you, this just might be what you are seeing why some drivers just sit there in the middle of the

I ran across Randy Travis’s equipment 1 time. it was 1 bus for the roadies & 2 semi trucks for the stage equipment. I know it was Randy Travis because he had his picture down the side of each semi trailer. I know it wasn’t Randy Travis himself because he was big enough to fly between shows. I know Reba had a whole fleet of bus & trucks to move her show around but she also always flew between shows to have home time during her tours

Yep, it takes a lot of crew for some of those shows. Drum tech, guitar tech, lighting director, A1 audio engineer, A2 audio engineer, systems engineer, video playback, tour manager, production manager… it adds up really quickly, and that’s a modest group. The biggest pop stars would be many many more all traveling with them.

what instrument do you play ?? just like the guys who drive the transporters for NASCAR I heard the entertainers want a driver who can do more than drive ?? if need be a driver can fill in playing a instrument if a regular band member can’t go on stage. & the NASCAR transporters want a driver who can work on the car in a pinch if need be.
when I was driving a truck I thought about applying for the coach company that was in Nashville ( not sure if they are still in business) but I can’t play music & sing & definitely never had professional mechanic schooling to work on race cars

I first started my truck career with JB in the mid ‘90s. They were hell bent for bankruptcy then. They fired the top tier. They went to another top company and drove them into bankruptcy. JB straightened up. Last I heard they had well over 50%of the freight nationwide tied up, either brokerage or with their fleet. They have so many trucks on the road, the profit margin is low. Anyway you look at it they are too big.

They're pretty garbage now my dude. 9/10 of my drivers can't or won't back the truck up to the dock because "I don't want to hit something and lose my license." I'm talking full on blocking the exit to the parking lot, parking in front of handicapped areas or even next to the curb by the post office on the other side of the street. Two weeks ago I had a guy park in the street in the pouring ass rain and roll pallets off the liftgate to the dock because he was too afraid to back in.
Older experienced drivers like Steve I have absolutely no problem with. They get the truck exactly where I need it, unload with no problems and get right back out without hitting a damn thing. I get along great with all the older dudes but all the younger drivers seem to have a chip on their shoulder and a rockstar attitude.
I know it's not easy driving a truck but goddamn man you went to school and got a CDL.
