    Back some years ago, I was parked at the TA in Boise, ID just got parked, got out to take my dog for a walk, I got about 100’ from my truck and heard scrapping, and metal noises, so I turn around,, and see the truck that was parked to my left just ripped off my hood, I walk back and the driver told me “I forgot I was pulling a trailer” I’m like WHAT! How in the hell does a truck driver forget he’s pulling a trailer?

    The reserve parking trend is for the steering wheel holders, but it's hard to enforce, drivers still park in them without paying. Some places just completely gave up on the reserve. Employees don't want to be parking police.

    I like the big truck stops for some things but they’re getting carried away with removing the restaurants and putting the fast food garbage in. I would stop at loves for fuel because it was a company truck and I could rack up free points and showers but I tried to find the hole in the wall old school truck stops when it came to food because they had the best little mom and pop restaurants.

    • @neilthomas7606
      @neilthomas7606 7 місяців тому

      It's not 1971 anymore sit down restaurants are money losers! A stand alone Subway will generate more net profit by lunch than a 24hr restaurant. And mom and pop trucks are 99% gone because they can't afford the modern expenses.

    • @truthseeker2321
      @truthseeker2321 7 місяців тому +8

      They are getting rid of the restaurants because they can't keep people working in them.
      There's a couple of restaurants and a car wash that closed in my hometown because nobody wants to work, but they will gladly sit on their asses for an unemployment check that pays less than the jobs they used to have.
      I know a twenty something girl who bitched that her waitress job wasn't feeding her kids, but she didn't let that stop her from getting a dozen tattoos. Funny thing is, my mom managed to raise 3 kids in the 70's on a waitress job, while my dad was a mechanic.

    • @truthseeker2321
      @truthseeker2321 7 місяців тому +5

      The Flying J truckstop in Beaverdam Ohio closed their restaurant 2 years ago for the same reason. I used to stop in there every night while driving a dedicated route from Cincinnati to the Detroit area back when it first opened in 1995, and the restaurant was always busy, even after midnight. There's no way those waitresses and cooks weren't making a decent paycheck.

    • @LifewithJames
      @LifewithJames 7 місяців тому

      @@truthseeker2321 Yes, sadly people don’t want to work for their money and would rather lay around and take bare minimum from the government just as long as they don’t have to lift a finger. As for the tattooed waitress, nothing against spending money on tattoos as long as you have extra after paying all of your important bills but those should come first. If you can’t put groceries in the refrigerator, gas in the car, and pay the mortgage and utilities, then you don’t have $ for them either.
      I’ve invested a fair amount in ink & “toys” but I would always make sure my bills were paid before I spent on anything else and even then I would argue back and forth with myself before I treated myself to whatever it was I wanted to buy. Sadly a lot of people don’t think that way and spend on non important stuff first then stand with their hand out, wanting others to pay their important bills because they can’t afford it now.
      You also have the people on the other hand though that sadly will go to work every day and do their best but just can’t get ahead with the ridiculously inflated prices of things.

    I was parked on an end once and had some one back into me very similar to this angle, but luckily no damage. Was a real head scratcher being that it wasn’t a blind side back and you could see my truck out his window and in his mirror.

    • @truthseeker2321
      @truthseeker2321 7 місяців тому

      I've been in some tight ones, where I had to straighten up at an angle to the spot I wanted to back into and had to slide my tandems to the rear just so I wouldn't have an overhang to hit the truck on the right side. It was much easier to watch out for the front of the tractor until I could get straight enough. Sometimes, it's a good idea to try ,and worry about getting the tandems back in the right spot after you wake up the next morning.

    • @fighter4christ7
      @fighter4christ7 7 місяців тому

      @@truthseeker2321 oh yeah I’ve been there too. It’s tough when you can’t see how close your tail is on the blind side. Might be too late once you get your tractor line up with the trailer to see again.
      Even been in some truck stops where it’s impossible to complete a back once it fills up to a certain amount. A real shame because there’s a few spots available that no one can use because someone didn’t measure the property correctly. Sometimes a daycab can fit but no one is spending the night in that.

These are the ones that think it's good to be bumper to bumper on the highway (speed limiter limits) tailgate going 65 in a snowstorm, cant back up. Cant go forward, cant read signs. I see it everyday. I'm a yard jockey at a large distribution center and I just have to shake my head.

    This particular TA in Greenland NH is 90% reserved parking and they stop selling diesel at 8pm so they can use the fuel island for reserved parking as well, though you will not see anything saying this. I stopped going there and prefer to drive an extra 5 miles to an Irving/Circle K in Kittery ME, even if it means going in the wrong direction. During the day, parking is no usually problem.

    Won’t be long before they let Orwell into the northeast
    Cali won’t let you in now, so west coast will shut you down in less than 20 years
    But, bet you couldn’t get a new truck to go 2 years without a tow in the middle of nowhere
    I know because we have 2 ‘22 Petes that have stayed in the shop over 3 months each for various reasons
    Good thing they’re lease trucks or else we’d be out of business

    This looks like another episode of Bone Head Truckers with the rig backing into the other rig, lol.
    I used to work at a Pilot truck stop, and it seemed to me that like 70% of truckers that came in were foreigners who hardly spoke a word of English and would rely on Google Translate to communicate with me. It was soo frustrating to deal with them. All of them acted like they were cool because they paid with their phone wireless when they bought stuff. I mean, they really thought they were special being able to do that

It was nice but I got into aviation. The drivetrain is exactly how I would do it. Cat makes a good motor. These new trucks you can have them. All this Def crap. This administation has messed everything up. I love that cabover. safe travels over the road.

    I live approximately 15 miles west, northwest of the Pilot Truck Stop in Hesperia California. If the lighting company owned parking areas is anything like what you talked about at that TA in this video, the side street parking areas have less available lighting. To be fair, the street lighting is most likely a Hesperia California thing.

    Totally agree with you about the quality of drivers today... it might be easier these days to get a CDL than a regular license 😢 I wonder if they even give skills test anymore, It seems like you only have to pass the written test and these companies put you in a truck to figure it out on your own...SMFH 😢

      Having worked at a transit system for 37 years things didn't look that good as time went by. They dropped the starting age down to 21 and they made people instructors who barely had five or six years when it used to be 10 to 12. When I started in 1983 we had small classes of eight people 10 at the most and you received a lot more individual instruction. Some of those guys we're old and grouchy and it seemed like they picked on you but I guarantee in the end they pounded into you the safe and correct way of how to do it. All of us went on to have at least 20 years of service where is the new classes of today with 20 people plus the new hires are having a 35% turnover ratio. After 22 years I went on to an office job as the station clerk dispatcher and finished with 37 years. Between the people that really should never have been hired and the heavy layers of management where ignorance was your best ticket to promotion short of a few people I don't miss it

    You used to be able to get a decent meal at Petro truck stops but they changed after Covid and now they stink. The food at truck stops is always fast food or like pilot has their own stuff to go but again it’s not at all good for you. I started buying meals from a service to get good food and have a Coleman plug in fridge with a food warmer. As far as space goes some drivers park where they aren’t supposed to making it hard to get in and out of spaces. If it’s not a parking spot don’t park there!
