What I love the most about your channel is the candid nature of how you do business. You are open and honest and understand what being a collector is as well as being a seller.
Most card stores ive been to dont offer such fair buying prices. They try to do in the 50% range. Which is why i dont bother bringing in cards anymore. Rather just do ebay.
Very fair offers on the collections. The guy that didn't sell kept bringing up how much he spent on the boxes to pull the cards has to understand 90% of the time you're not gonna get back what you spent to rip. He should actually feel good that he spent $500 on a Gold Standard box and pulled an auto worth $350,to me that's a win when ripping.
GREAT episode & I'll say, w/o a doubt the best part of being a LCS owner is you NEVER know what's going to walk thru that door! And as a die-hard Pats fan, we're all too familiar w the greatness of Allen. QB before him was Tyrod Taylor. And regards to Jake Fromm, he didnt even take a single snap in the NFL, was drafted 2 yrs after Allen in 2020 by the Bills, then released the next year.
Too bad the seller didn’t know that either. It upsets me that people buy sports they have no idea about just to open products to do something and pull bangers that I rarely pull even buying a case.

Despite this, it is incredibly fun to follow your episodes, the people you meet and the collections you buy. You are a great ambassador for the hobby 😃👍
Cool episode, of pivoting when buying a collection falls through. The Awesome card shop looks awesome and will stop by there next time I’m in Vegas. I bet that Josh Allen collection was amazing to see. So much shine! That kid is going to get hooked up with those cards. Way to go dad! I understand as a seller that you (Ty) prefer 10’s, but 9’s are fine for collecting. With the naked eye a person can’t really see the difference between a 9 and 10 on a modern card. So, as a collector, why pay the 10 tax? Well produced show as always.
Great show! sick Allens those will sell well Im sure. Always cool to see an Allen PC hes got some nice cards . allen has a nice sig too. Hopefully the team helps him out this year he cant do it all.
The problem a lot of new collectors have is they expect the value of a particular card to be 10x what you tell them because of what they are spending to rip the products.. They dont realize that the cost of the boxes is driven by whatever the chase of the product is, not so much the players in the set. I think that sauce was priced about right, even though the box prices don't justify the value.
Taking my entire modern collection (81% baseball) all PSA 10's and 9"s to the National, about 240 cards. Retail is in the neighborhood of 24K. Will I have a hard time selling? What percent should I expect to get, 70?
Might hit up some of those trade nights? Might do better with other collectors than with dealers. Could be hard to sell it all but might get a higher pct with what you do sell.
@@rockcundiff1761 From videos from past years, any hotel near the Convention Center will have people trading after hours, mostly in modern cards it seems. CardCollector2 has had super huge trade nights the last several years, just not sure if that's on Thursday or Friday night.

Can someone please answer this, as I'm not a high end Ultra Modern collector. Those #/5 Selects, are all of those from some other jersey, not Allen? There's a K patch in there, what looks like an O....if that's the case, can't Panini find a way to get an authentic Allen jersey? I know how they operate on the low end, but those could be very unique and valuable cards. But to use someone else's jersey? I just can't see the appeal. Please educate me if I'm wrong here.
99% of all jersey cards inserted into packs now are player worn, meaning either another player wore them and not even in a game, they are worn by the player pictured and are rookie premier photo shoot jerseys or the player put the jersey on for 5 seconds and took it off technically meaning that it was player worn. The patch cards are usually not even worn by the player as the companies will use the number 88 jersey as it makes more and desirability patches than say a jersey with the #1. The laundry tag one of ones are a definite clue as well as the jersey size won’t match up with the players height. For example, I have a Jordy Nelson laundry tag one of one from a jersey size 58. That’s an offensive lineman’s size as Jordy used to wear a size 48 jersey. The letter patches are a dead giveaway too as, like you said, the letters don’t match up with the players. The worst offenders are the National Treasures Collegiate with tons of bowl patches that either were swiped from another player on the team or stitched to a generic jersey and then cut up and placed on the card. I get what Panini tries to do because it’s not that they’re trying to be cheap but they are highly limited in what they can acquire. A lot of the players keep their jerseys especially from big games or they are in the Hall of Fame. Or many are bought by high dollar private collectors and never see the light of day. Even more are jersey swapped by the opposing players at the end of games and never make it to the market. It’s why actual game jersey cards bring a slight premium and a lot from the late 90’s and early 2000’s sell for more than autographed cards because people know they were actually game worn and photo matched.
I watch stuff like this and it just furthers my desire to open my own shop as well. I have 15 acres in middle TN with a 1500 sq ft building. I think I’m going to wall off 1/3 of it and open a shop. Low overhead, I won’t go broke if it’s slow at first, and there is no competition around here. All my ebay regulars from TN ask me if I have one. Yeah I think I’m going to do it.

I don’t understand why they wouldn’t just sell those small of collections on their own online to maximize profits
Some see it as a hassle or "hard" learning curve. Most just need $$$ fast.
Conservatively, selling online would be 85% of comps after costs. Getting 70% hassle free and instantly is sometimes worth it.
