These people that are saying your offer was insulting have obviously never negotiated before. There's some give and take in every negotiation. In my opinion, they are jealous of the success of this channel and want to find anything possible to nitpick what you're doing. These people probably pay sticker price for a car, so they don't insult the car salesman...🙄🙄
Paddy… as a buyer they are probably only worth 50 cents. As a seller, you sell for as much as you can make. It’s a business transaction. You do not pay retail for a bulk collection. And what if the autos are fake? Consider these things in the future. And at the end of the day, the seller said no and Mike found him a buyer.
@@paddyb456 You seem to be missing two very important pieces in this equation. 1 - in the sub $5 card market it's a free for all... if you want to spend the next 4 weeks of your life scanning and listing $2 to $5 cards, go for it. Most people don't want to do that and are okay with selling bulk for 50cents. That's extremely common in the card market and is usually a fair exchange for 'time'... 2 - Values are determined by one thing...what someone is willing to pay you. You can run comps until your fingers bleed, but if someone doesn't bring you money for that card, it's worthless info. If Ricky had 2 months between visits, it's probably fair to assume he tried to sell his collection for 8 weeks. He didn't... because money talks...not "comps"
Jelous of the channel? Oh my god give me a break 😂 the chasing cardboard guys get 2 of these cards graded and sell them for more twice and much as they paid for the whole Lot. Some people should not comment if they don’t know how the business side of cards work.
$2000 was insulting. I buy and sell cards all the time as a dealer and for myself, and that was someone trying to take advantage of a person who openly admitted they didn't keep up with prices.
Lol I love how people forget the buyer and offer you want ever they want to. It's your job as the seller to say yes or no. Dude acts like he has always offered everyone 100 percent of what a card is worth 😂😂😂
@paddyb456 Mike has not lost any credibility. He was saying that is the price he’d buy them for. They are worth more than 50 cents… on a good day. And lately most of these commons are sitting in our eBay stores, not selling. So yeah, we are not paying retail in a common card, nor should you.
That sweet man was too nice to tell you how garbage that 2k offer was lol talking about the costs of grading and shipping after saying half of it was to complete your own sets.
It was an "offer".... part of the process of any of these deals. We make an offer and expect a back and forth. We had ZERO idea what he wanted.... if he would have countered on the spot we would have probably come to a deal.
@@arthurrosen2819 It's a negation.. you do not start with what your break even point would be if it is a dealer. Time is something you do not consider with the 40% as well..
I like the we offer 70% after fees, so basically they offer 55% which is garbage. I offer a straight 70-80% based on liquidity and usually my offers are accepted and we both walk away happy
No one tried to "take advantage" of anyone... we gave a cash offer, expecting a counter, didn't get one... and that was that. We respected Ricky and found a solution via Ben.
Keep in mind, Ben is a collector. We are resellers, so we’re wanting the best deal for us. But we’re also glad we were able to find a buyer that made Ricky happy.
@@CHASINGCARDBOARDyou keep trying to justify this by saying Ben is a collector. But Mike is also a collector, and even said that he would be using some of these in sets that he was building! Perhaps he should have made it clearer which cards he was buying while wearing his collector hat, and which ones he was buying while wearing his Chasing Cardboard hat!
$2000 is completely insulting and disrespectful and I hope he deletes you guys number immediately smh of course we want that best deal but that's just ridiculous, no class at all
Well...as you noticed after watching until the end.... he didn't delete our number...in fact, we worked out a deal that we liked. It was an "offer".... part of the process of any of these deals. We make an offer and expect a back and forth. We had ZERO idea what he wanted.... if he would have countered on the spot we would have probably come to a deal two months earlier.
Mike didn’t do anything wrong. Ricky simply didn’t want to negotiate. Mike made an offer, expecting Ricky to come back with his number. It didn’t happen. So Mike found Ricky a buyer. Go watch the episode again from this perspective.
@@CHASINGCARDBOARD hahaha won’t apologize. we all know Mike is a wonderful person but imo you need to put him up on game on negotiating. hey we learn and move on. no harm done. love the channel!
Not everyone collects commons. And if your smart… you buy for 50 cents each and resell for a $1. It’s called making money. Ben obviously isn’t interested in the commons.
I don't get why people who buy cards are so villainized. It's just business dudes. Y'all get real high on your horse real quick when you know you'd buy cards for $100 and sell them for $1,000,000 if you could. What's the problem?
@@ScottEOsSportsballCards because this hobby used to be filled with collectors. Now it's nothing but money hungry conmen looking to lowball their way to a lottery ticket.
Even if he would not come off of $4,000.... I am still a buyer. Great for a collector building set. But those EX to EXMT commons are WAY more than 50 cents.
The 50 cent price is what a reseller would buy them for, and then resell for $1 or more. Bulk purchases always should be discounted for the sake of the work that goes into it.
$2k-$3800. At first glance, yikes, not a good look because are you not THE guy who gives your partner value advice? Unless... the $2k offer was without a bunch of stuff or same deal? Just trying to think about why you knocked yourself down a few pegs in terms of respect.

It boggles my mind in 2023, people still negotiate like this. High ball offer, low ball offer, meet in the middle. It’s insulting on both sides. When I buy a car, or negotiate anything, I’m actually pretty honest. This is my price, can you meet it? If you can’t, that’s cool and we walk away. But the back and forth offers and playing poker face just never sits well with me.
Not everyone negotiates the same way. Ricky was not willing to with Mike, and there’s nothing wrong with his approach. At the end of the day, Mike actually helped Ricky get a buyer.
he had no counter offer because $2000 was a super low ball offer, those players and autos worth a lot more than $2K - you could nickel and dime those commons and make 2K - I would have done the same or I would have been firm with 4K counter
Thanks for watching! As a reseller you have to factor in the time it takes to list thousands of cards. What is your time worth? Also what if the autos are fake? Are you willing to pay that price? Never negotiate on the “possibilities” of getting your money back. Make sure you are spending wisely and with caution.
It’s called negotiating. You give someone a lowball offer, they give you a higher offer, eventually, you meet somewhere in the middle, and both parties are happy. :)
@buffalobraves9 No. We do not buy with the dream of a card grading high. We buy based on its raw condition and hope it grades high enough to make a bigger profit. That is how we are able to produce these episodes. How much do you think it costs for our travel, flights, lodging, food, camera crew, editing, etc. there’s a lot of money put into each episode. Hope your enjoying them.
@@CHASINGCARDBOARD Oh yes, because the collector selling his collection should make allowances for your camera crew's travel. That is total BS. YOU choose to drag around cameras that is on you.
Mike. When you said. “Advice to a seller”. To be fair…. Your offer was very low. When offers are a lot less then what the value is. A lot of ppl won’t even counter. Also a lesson to buyers. Ppl might say they don’t have a clue in what values are… that’s not always true. Sometimes ppl want to see who there dealing with when negotiating etc.
Nobody should pay sticker prices for cards. Especially in todays market. You out an offer out there, a low offer, and the seller should comeback with his offer. It’s called negotiating. Ha
Hate when sellers incorporate time of selling and grading into vintage cards where they make a killing if authentic. Heres an idea if you go to offer bring a person with you who can authenticate and make an offer and deduct shipping to level the price if need be. Otherwise buy autos authenticated if you cant do the latter scenario.
Easier said than done. We’ve picked up some amazing looking vintage only to get rejected by a grader because they were trimmed or colored. You can’t catch everything by holding them. So looking at a card and guessing, “it might be a 6”, is dangerous. You have to buy under comps.
@@CHASINGCARDBOARD $3800 is nowhere near comps. Making the old guy think $30k worth of cards is only worth $3800 is taking advantage of the elderly and inexperienced. Let’s be real, people like that old man are the easiest to take advantage of and that’s exactly what happened. You gathered that info, that he is clueless, when you initially started the conversation with him to see how much he knows
@@JamesWoo-o7m yeah, its EXTREMELY close to comps….in fact, after two months of trying to sell those cards it was the best offer he received. (He had it publicly listed)
So sick of the negativity in this world and people acting holier than thou when no one is perfect. Love the channel! Your negotiation is YOUR negotiation, and I respect that. Everyone who loves to support each other in life, is the side I’m on.
I thought the offer was insultingly low and I honestly think Mike knew it , you can see it in his face. As far as Ty answering every negative comment with a condescending one , seems about right from what I have seen from him lately. I said this to you during the Rock auto incident , less is more. But you tend to have to defend yourself a lot less when you’re doing things honorably.
Hey Michael, not sure what comments you’re referring to, but Ty rarely reads the comments nor replies. Thanks for watching and supporting the show. Our team works hard to put out FREE content, and we are not going to stand down on the insults and haters. Mikes offer was an offer. He was willing to spend $3k+. Mike is a business man and was trying to see where Ricky’s mind was. Mike was being cautious as those autos could be fake. Ricky didn’t know his price, so we brought Ricky a buyer to pay his price.
I appreciate that you guys went and found a collector who was willing to pay closer to retail. You didn’t have to do that. Guy probably would have taken less. The $4k counter was smart on his part but I doubt he knew the true value.
I'm catching up on videos and this is the first video I've watched that I felt the need to cringe when watching. Comments below are pretty critical of this video (which is not the norm on this channel) - I thought the first offer was weak and good on Ricky for not really entertaining it, but also good on Mike for finding a buyer for Ricky. I wish the Chasing team would be less combative in responses to people in this specific video, but it is what it is.
I deal in art and people often ask me how I get certain pieces......and some of them I obtain from collectors. What makes a collector sell? I call it " DDD" with a happy "R". Let me define it: Divorce Death Devastation (this could be medical or your car broke down) The happy "R" ? Retirement
An offer of $2000 was low...too low, especially if some were planned for PC. I am happy to see Ricky received $3800, although that might have been a stretch - $3,000 might have been the sweet spot if some were going to the PC. The title and image "HE REFUSED TO SELL" also seemed a bit click baity, based on what was filmed (maybe he refused to sell and we didn't see that)." He said he needed to talk with his son before he could give you a response. The fact that it took two months was likely indicative of his emotional connection to the cards and less so about him stunning you by "refusing" to sell.
Well he did refuse to sell. And Mikes offer was AN OFFER. it was not his last offer. Ricky didn’t come back to him with a price until two months later. Plus, what if the autos were fake? How would you feel about paying $4k for fake autos?! ummmmm…. Gulp!!!
@@CHASINGCARDBOARD The video did not show multiple offers that were refused, at least from what I saw. Maybe I missed that? Ricky did take two months to respond, which is pretty ridiculous if, in fact, his rationale for not accepting the original offer of $2,000 was that he had to "check in with his son." I feel badly for his son if it takes two months to check in on something like that! To be clear: I don't think Mike's offer was ridiculously low. In fact, I probably would have offered less than that as I am not into autos for my PC, like Mike is. My questioning of the offer was more about the delta between what was going to be going into Mike's PC vs. what was going into the online store for resale. If I am buying for my PC, I tend to offer a bit more than if I am buying for resale if the purchase is from a collector. But, I suppose each of us are different in that regard. I thought $3800 was high, for me, but if the autos are what you're into, then there were some nice ones there. In terms of autos being real or fake, that's not really my steez as I don't acquire autos for PC or resale. It's not a lake I choose to swim in but I can appreciate the appeal. I agree, paying $4,000 for fake autos would not have been high on my priority list either. Even paying $2,000 for fake autos would not have been my cup of tea. All in all, the episode ending made it right. Ricky got what he wanted for the cards and the other fella got some nice vintage cards with autos. Overall, solid episode despite the title which did, IMO, feel a bit on the click baity side. This show is so well done, even the semblance of a click bait-ish title is not needed IMO. The show quality speaks for itself and I appreciate the work that goes into them - keep chasing:)

Selling all of these cards (even if some of them are PC Cards) is A LOT of work, people saying this was a lowball offer simply don’t understand the value of time nor do they understand how negotiating works. Apparently neither does the seller.
Id love to see what my dads collection would be valued at. Hes in his mid 60s and has baseball cards mint he got when he was 6 or 7yo. Most from the 50s and 60s.
I recently bought a brand new car and one of the dealerships was pretty upset that I wasn't willing to give them a counter offer, it was because they tried to sell me the car for 8k above other written offers and went 1200$ under other offers for my tradein. I'm guessing no counter offer here for the same reason.
Lowball offer. And saying they need to be graded is BS, just another way to undercut the owner. Did you happen to find a couple Rock autos in there 😂😂😂😂
This buyer made himself look so bad in this video. You tell the guy that you're looking to fill your collection and three minutes later you try to explain that the cost of grading everything is going to affect your offer amount. Sleazy.
Everyone loves sausage but not many like seeing how the sausage is made. This was a great episode, it’s unfortunate that Mikes starting offer is what alot of people are glued on. No one wants to see a seller get taken advantage of but the cold hard truth is- buyers are trying to make money, and 20-30% isn’t enough to pay the bills. Glad to see Mike brought in Ben to make a deal and this awesome collection, with the provenance of Ricky’s stories, is now curated!
Mike was waiting for an rebuttal offer from Ricky. Didn’t happen. Mike would have paid more. But, he has to be cautious with those autos. What if they’re fake.
Running a business cost time and money. Grading cost, rent, taxes, utilities, gas etc etc. Collectors want full price for stuff but wont tbe 100s of hours selling them on ebay etc. Because its hard to do
Let me first say that I am a collector not a dealer. Card dealers are worse than car salesmen and insurance salesmen on the theives totem pole! Morgan RC, Clemente, Rose, Mays, Aarons, Yaz, Robinson RC signed, Perry RC signed and many more signed cards and all the other 50's and 60's cards right out of the packs!. The signed Aaron alone is was worth $2k! Yeah, yeah, yeah, you have costs like shipping, grading, time, sort through them, sell them and "all the things that go into the business part" bullshit. If I was offerred $2K for that collectioin I first would have laughed in nhis face and then tell hiom to start running while I get my shotgun! On a $2,500 Aaron card it's costing him $1,000 to do all the shit he's describing? I would sell the cards on eBay, or FB (14% fee) and shipping is $5 with tracking. Dealers are simply lying sacks of s*^t!
Thanks for watching. Yeah we get it, some folks don’t like the negotiating. Sounds Ike you like to pay eBay comps. We don’t. We’re trying to fund the next episodes (which are expensive). For you to watch these episodes, we have to play for flights, rental car, gas, food, lodging, and then the other expenses. So hopefully you don’t qualify those costs into your “bull$h1t” category. Oh… and we have to pay the film crew and editor. You think we do this for free? Can’t. Our team has families and bills to pay. *Most sellers reach out to us, knowing we DO NOT pay retail prices. Are the autos real? Not sure. Definitely shouldn’t pay that price on the possibility of them being fake. The $2k offer was Mike’s opening offer. Next step should have been Ricky naming his price. Then go from there. Mike was ready to pay $3k-ish. But Ricky didn’t go there. So, we brought Ricky as “collector” that was willing to pay closer to Ricky’s asking price. So, having heard that, we’d love for you to hang around and keep watching. But we ask that you keep your comments family friendly, as a lot of kids watch and read the comments.
You guys do an awesome job of showing the process and being pretty transparent. I understand that you have to start somewhere in a negotiation but I think in a video like this where you guys have the knowledge and seller does not, then it is simply not about getting it for the lowest price. I think taking a picture of what was there and coming back to him with a price would have made sense. When he mentioned he wanted to talk to his son and he couldn’t get him on the phone, no need to get frustrated. It made Mike look like that used car salesman trying to get a deal right now. I just think that isn’t who Mike is and maybe would reconsider the next time. I am happy abdeal was made and that both parties are happy. Keep up the great videos!!!
He wanted those cards pretty bad. When the man said " I'll have to talk to my son he said "can you call him now". Come on man, you know those cards are worth more than 2500 hundred dollars. They always come up with that excuse, " well I'll have to get them graded and althenticated, there's got to be a little meat on the bone for me". Just give the cards to your grandchildren and a little knowledge of their true worth.
Keep in mind, Ben is a collector. We are resellers, so we’re wanting the best deal for us. But we’re also glad we were able to find a buyer that made Ricky happy.
@@CHASINGCARDBOARD I think overall for sure $3800 ain't bad on the collector side but even as a collector you want to be a little lower as a whole BUT the $3800 is much more in line with value than the $2K offer no doubt about it. Still think the DOG needs his own card show channel, some of the dog b roll looks were hilarious.
I buy old toys, sports cards, and other collections all the time. I try to pay 50-60% of possible value for items. Even if you plan on keeping some or most of the items, its factored in when you think of all the time and energy it takes to sell off what you dont keep.
Oh my! That was.... uh... out there lol. Gotta love the chicken train song at the end haha! It was also good to see Ben make a reappearance. He was super cool in the episode you had with him earlier. I wish Mike could've got the cards he wanted but maybe next time!
Not sure what all the fuss is about, ungraded and unauthenticated doesn't garner 70 percent of comps offers? I took my son to a card shop recently with his graded card with recent comps around 700, they offered 220, we politely declined and moved on, sold it at a card show last weekend, took the best offer he received, 350. The other thing to consider is this isnt the same market as it was in 2020, i dont think 2000 was a bad starting point, there was no counter which meant Mike wasnt where the seller wanted to be, everybody needs to be comfortable in the negotiations, jmo.
I think when making an offer that would be considered low you need to gauge the actual seller's motivation/emotion of why they are selling. I don't see anything necessarily wrong with a 50% offer but if the seller is somewhat tied to the cards you may lose a deal by going this path. Its just a reality that some sellers may be rigid in negotiations while others are pretty liberal and like the back and forth. A lower offer could insult the seller (whether intentional or not). I can see playing this game with another dealer who may be motivated to move inventory, but i feel collectors are more emotional about their collections and what they think they are worth. A buyer must also be willing to walk away if the pricing doesn't work for you either.
We’ve walked away many times. We always look up the cops, and we’ve done this enough to know what things sell for, and what most cards are worth. We have sold hundreds of thousands of cards over the last couple of years, the market is rocky. Plus whenever buying Raul autographs, You should never pay retail price, they could be fake.
I’m not going to bash about a low number but a lot of people buy large lots on eBay for really good money and that is even if they are in Very Good condition. Based on the eye appeal these cards looked to be better than very good and a lot of bidders are like Mike, looking to buy bulk to start or finish a set and bulk for each of these years rarely come up. People will over pay to get what they need and then offset that buy selling the lower grade cards they already have for sets and upgrading with cards that this guy had. Obviously don’t sell the star cards with the lots but with as many cards from all different series that he had each of the lots bulked by each year would get this guys thousands per lot. Add in the star cards even in raw condition individually and he could have made a fortune.
So bringing ben got you the cards but cost you 1800.00 more and if cardsgrade authentic as believed at 2,000 you would have doubled your profit and at your price yes it was a low ball offer at 2,000 kudos to ricky for renegotiating deal.
Ben is a collector. Collector often pay more. Mikes intention was to keep couple and sell the rest. Can’t make money real king when you pay full price. And for Ben’s sake… we hope those autos are real! 😬
Why should buyers like yourselves have the mindset of buying cards as cheap as they can when these people are happy to let you in their house. Maybe, the right mindset should be wow. I will never find these old cards again and offer a good price where the seller would maybe be overpaid and happy with the offer instead of buyers buying something where you know you lowballed someone? I love how you give your side of it and give a sentimental story after. Oh how heartfelt. Thank you so much. 😂
I'd rather watch Chumlee on Pawn Stars fumble around the shop than see this Mike guy complain about someone not countering his ridiculous offer? Who says someone has to counter any offer?? Quit your whining and allow people to do as they please, when they please with their cards!
Another great episode. From watching Mike's videos over the years, he knows how to get good deals, but appeared to have met his match. I'm surprised the two didn't meet in the middle at $3k, but it was cool to see Ben get a shot and Ricky to get an added bump for some rare vintage autos. I was surprised by the continuity error with the Larry Doby card. Clearly the card shop stop happened before going to Ricky's house. I know Ricky asked Mike if he knew the significance of Doby, but the edit could have had him answer yes without him showing off the card. A rare nitpick, as I really do enjoy the series of episodes!
Yeah, we had to adjust the timeline for the sake of the viewing experience. Thanks for the comment though...and yeah, I think if Ricky would have countered they would have got the deal done on the spot.
Personally, I think the $2000 starting offer was on the low side, but fair. There actually was a fair amount of risk in the deal. Although I believed the seller's story of how he got the autos, for them to have any real value most collectors will want authentication. And that will require time, work, and more money to get them authenticated. And what if they didn't come back as authentic?
How is someones opinion at psa any better than someone saying they got it in person? All you're getting from psa is a holder and an opinion and I've seen plenty of cards slabbed by psa with obviously fake autos.
@@johnwayne9828 I agree, PSA is just someone's opinion. But right or wrong, collector's will almost always pay more for an autograph that has been authenticated.
I love when buyers consider the cost of selling again by adding THEIR costs of grading and ebay costs. That is not relevant for the sellers.Just you are buying the cards raw so too can the seller without needing to reduce is ask by some stupid " buyer costs" The whole market is a total and utter ripoff for long time collectors.
I'm going back and watching all the episodes I missed..my work season starts in April and I can't wait to buy a hat to show my support. Hold on a minute. You showed Ricky the Doby card saying you just bought it, then went to PlayBall to clear your head and purchase the same Doby card. Something is odd here 😂
$2,000 was a safe starting point of negotiating. Even though Ricky has stories behind the autos, that alone does not authenticate them. I have looked atcollections with lots of stories behind them. It only takes getting burned once to teach you that you have to be careful when spending thousands of dollars. For a reseller, you have to leave room for fakes. Same with condition. You can make your best estimate on condition/grade, but opinions vary. At least graded cards are done by a third party with no vested interest in the individual card. Perhaps a better offer on this collection would have been a contingency on authentic autos and conditions. Like, if these come back as authentic and these come back above a certain grade I will give you an additional amount.
@@johnwayne9828 Plenty? I personally would not be qualified enough to make that call (no background in validating autographs). But if I want an opinion on authenticity, yes, I would certainly want to get an opinion from a reputable company that publicly has a lot to lose from being wrong. How else should someone attempt to validate a signature? If your argument here is that errors do get made, then I agree. People can be fooled and some fakes are better than others. So, there are no fool proof ways to authenticate autographs. You are only encapsulating a card with the opinion of someone with more knowledge on the subject and a lot more resources to make that opinion than me.
These people that are saying your offer was insulting have obviously never negotiated before. There's some give and take in every negotiation. That sweet man was too nice to tell you how garbage that 2k offer was lol talking about the costs of grading and shipping after saying half of it was to complete your own sets.

The auto could be fake. He didn’t accept the offer. In the end, Mike found him a buyer. Why are you complaining.

They were far from ex to ex-my condition
The 50 cent price is what a reseller would buy them for, and then resell for $1 or more. Bulk purchases always should be discounted for the sake of the work that goes into it.
Ricky knew what he wanted. Good for him not even budging on the first offer. Without seeing all the conditions 4k looks like it's close to fair.
Ricky definitely had some conviction. If he would have countered I think we'd have likely got a deal done... but mad respect for Ricky.

When I buy a car, or negotiate anything, I’m actually pretty honest. This is my price, can you meet it? If you can’t, that’s cool and we walk away. But the back and forth offers and playing poker face just never sits well with me.

As a reseller you have to factor in the time it takes to list thousands of cards. What is your time worth?
Also what if the autos are fake? Are you willing to pay that price?

Fair enough.
Absolutely 100% TRUE
If Mike is keeping a lot of the cards for his collection then he should get the cards closer to comps. Cool stories from this gentleman.
Nobody should pay sticker prices for cards. Especially in todays market. You out an offer out there, a low offer, and the seller should comeback with his offer. It’s called negotiating. Ha
@@thepullsportscards, agree. If you’re selling cards, know the price you want to sell them.
Mike brought a buyer to him, so it all worked out.
Wrong. I’d rather hook up a collector than a reseller any day!

You can resell all those cards for over $30,000.
No... you can't. If you watched until the end, it was sold to a buyer who paid "comps" for the collection.
@@CHASINGCARDBOARD $3800 is nowhere near comps. Making the old guy think $30k worth of cards is only worth $3800 is taking advantage of the elderly and inexperienced.
I deal in art and people often ask me how I get certain pieces......and some of them I obtain from collectors. What makes a collector sell? I call it " DDD" with a happy "R". Let me define it:
Divorce
Death
Devastation (this could be medical or your car broke down)
The happy "R" ?
Retirement
Black border cards in SGC holders hurt my eyes.
Absolutely NOT a waste of money....especially vintage.

I think the DOG really knew the value of everything in the room, I think fair price would've been $3,250.00 but $3800 ain't bad.

@@CHASINGCARDBOARD I think overall for sure $3800 ain't bad on the collector side but even as a collector you want to be a little lower as a whole BUT the $3800 is much more in line with value than the $2K offer no doubt about it. A buyer could verify in advance that all the decisionmakers will be present and ready to sell.
Not that easy. Most sellers are ambiguous.
So true. Your thoughts are very accurate. This market is crazy! eBay comps are like a roller coasters.
I like Ricky’s style - straight free balling
For sure!
Thanks for the feedback.
I would have paid 4 k personally but im a set builder
That’s why we brought Ben back. He’s a set builder too.
So bringing ben got you the cards but cost you 1800.00 more and if cardsgrade authentic as believed at 2,000 you would have doubled your profit and at your price yes it was a low ball offer at 2,000 kudos to ricky for renegotiating deal.

@CHASINGCARDBOARD wow, you need a new day job pal....I love the content but if this is Mike commenting here, you are doing the channel a disservice.
@@templebird Thanks for tuning in. Appreciate the support
@templebird … so you can confirm the autos are real?
@@thepullsportscards no, but I have a friend who specializes in guaranteeing The Rock autos.
@@templebird so does CC… and they got it right.
Dont blame the failed negotiations on the seller. Thats on you. Disrespect is a real thing......
The autos came back from psa fake.
Its very difficult when people dont have a price. I am not sure if they do have a price but they dont way to say
Not sure Ricky did. And Mike was 100% ready to come up on his price. Hard to negotiate when only one person is doing the work.
I'd pay 3200, good episode so far
👍
Ricky is a smooth business man that is for sure
👌
Personally, I think the $2000 starting offer was on the low side, but fair. There actually was a fair amount of risk in the deal. Although I believed the seller's story of how he got the autos, for them to have any real value most collectors will want authentication. And that will require time, work, and more money to get them authenticated. And what if they didn't come back as authentic?
Glad you see things the way Mike did. Thanks for watching.
Fair? How is that anywhere close to fair? He could sell the signed Aaron for over $2k! The remainder would be pure profit!
What if the autos are fake? That is a risk we are not taking. So we have to make our estimates in a safe place.
The price depends on how many cards are from the high number series. Those can fetch some significantly higher prices.
👍
You were trying to negotiate and start with a lower offer with someone who was not use to that. Know your audience
Nope not the case. Off camera, he knew what he was doing. Thanks for watching.
In the couple months I've been on UA-cam your channel is #1 for me, helping me learn a lot since I've been out of the hobby for the last 15 years ...Thank you and keep chasing ❤
We’ll have some hats at the Dallas card show in a couple of weeks.
@@CHASINGCARDBOARD I'm in Massachusetts..lol
Hold on a minute. You showed Ricky the Doby card saying you just bought it, then went to PlayBall to clear your head and purchase the same Doby card. Something is odd here 😂
Watch again.
@@CHASINGCARDBOARD I imagine you worked some editing magic! I enjoy the videos, but I am not watching again. 😂
Shhhhh
Selling to anyone other than a fellow collector requires taking wholesale pricing.
What’s so wrong with a buyer trying to get a deal?
It’s not allowed. You have to pay full price. 🤣
2000 was very low, glad you came up some.
It was low on purpose. If Ricky came back with $4k, Mike was ready to raise his offer. It’s negotiating 101.
I picked the Big Train too.
Haha
Have we not yet learned to quit letting Mike go on adventures by himself. Lol
Haha!
Another banger episode! Good job, Mike & Ben! ⚾️🔥
Thanks Gary!
This!!!
Good points.
But you'll trust someones opinion on authenticity from psa? I've seen plenty of "autographs" in slabs that are obvious fakes.
Insulting offer with signed Mays....ofcourse was gonna be crickets
Guess what.... it was a fake auto.
Was that gentlemen a former Marine ? Semper Fi

I sold 200 1959 Topps baseball Commons on eBay and they only bring,50 cents and they where in very good to excellent condition
