Hey Ty, First time that I have commented, but have been watching you for a good year or more. You give great advice here, and your Chasing Cardboard show is truly awesome!! Will definitely subscribe, and thanks again for the great advice and videos!!
Stumbled across your vid about insider secrets. Just want to simply say, THANK YOU! I came across a number of great tips throughout its entirety. Subscribed and looking forward to watching others!
Great content. I have wasted waayyy too much money chasing breaks to be disappointed and out of money. That strategy causes you to want to sell what you can and walk away completely. Great job!
Really great video. No BS. Grounded advices. Not minimizing work ahead. I feel maybe one aspect may be missing? Empathy / understanding seller’s motivation when working on a deal which you really seem to deploy when buying collections. Building a relationship even a short one.
Looks like I'm your 1,000 sub! Thanks for your thought leadership in the hobby. I really enjoy your videos. Do you have the link to your calculator? I'm subscribed to your email list as well but can't seem to find it. Thanks 🎉
The collectibles category is also balloon because people with a starter store on eBay at 10,000 free listings to certain categories and collectibles is one of them so things don’t really belong collectibles but generally can fit in one of the collectibles categories get put in there
Is there a specific transparency with each set released that tells me printing runs? If there’s some card that is a 1of 1 but the entire printing run is extremely high, the odds are stacked against the consumer.
Hmmmm. I’d say, focus on being consistent and engaging with the audience. It’s a labor of love during the beginning… but keep at it and if you stick to it, you’ll leave others behind
Listening to other UA-camrs talk about this 1) pick a release schedule and be consistent with it. Frankston a reaction channel that I sometimes watch had a death in the family when she was on the last part of a popular series she said she would be back in a month and people grumbled, but understood that month came and went she put up one video for something else, said the final installment would be in a week she got a little bit more pushback than the first time but 10 days later when they’re hadn’t been a listing she’s got a lot of pushback now. 2) Don’t be afraid of negative comments. Every UA-camr gets them. The commenters don’t realize they are helping your stream by adding something for watchers to engage with. You can choose to read the comments or not. But plan on brushing most of the negative comments away . If they know how to do a great channel, then they can film thier own videos. Don’t be super defensive in replies, all it takes is someone to feel offended knce to unsubscribe. At the same time don’t let Negative comments force changes on your channel. 3)Burnout is a thing so you want to be doing a channel that you are excited to make videos for. 4) it’s a good idea before you start to have a bank of several episodes. You sacrifice not being able to reply on current events, but depending on your content, it allows Ty to show how some of the bigger cards in a collection have sold at the end of an episode. It allows you to go on a family vacation for 2 weeks, it lets you take a mental health break from editing. 5)know your goal. Are you just putting your thoughts and experiences out there? Are you trying to monies via ads? Are you trying to get Sponcers? Once you start getting emails of people trying to sponsor the page, what type of product do you want to support? Is there a dollar amount that will cause you to widen your threshold? (This should be re-evaluated semi regularly, but not so often that you have regret for sponsorship deals you agreed to.)
I had a house fire when I was in my 30’s that took most of my childhood collection. When I decided to start collecting again, I only wasted time buying exactly what I wanted. I haven’t ripped a pack in decades. I’d never waste my time with that. I buy the cards I want at premiums and most go down in value over time but I don’t care because I have exactly what I want. I have laid into seller who send junk cards along with my purchase, lol. I only want what I want, I’m not looking for shit to fill up my closet faster and pretend I’m a big shot. I loos a small fortune but it could be worse, I could a spent my money on drugs and liquor, lol.😊
Hi Ty I Love your content especially chasing cardboard. I’ve just recently got back into the collecting since the teenage years in the 90s. What is your eBay page. Chris Sydney Australia
Yeah and eBay still charges a ridiculous fee if they went down to 5% seller fee they would triple their sales guaranteed. Most people stay away from eBay to sell their cards because of the 12-13% fees and taxes.
Also why don’t you ever talk about your faith instead it always seem like it’s uncomfortable for you… I ask because of your hate… every think God gave you this platform for a reason?
Prices of wax are rapidly making it to where smaller sellers cant hang. Example: 2024 Update Blasters at $40 and Hangers at $30. 2023 Topps Chrome Platinum Anniversary Hobby Case at $2800 and blasters at $80, even tho the set sells for $100. The get rich quick flippers and breakers and driving the collectors away. June NET: $4800 July NET: $3200 August NET: $1200 September NET: $743 October NET: TBD. Its going downhill quickly
Don't blame the breakers blame the idiots who continue to flood the market with their money. Fair is fair if people are willing to pay it..never understand this attitude.
@CHASINGTYWILSON Well I've heard they also take A Cut/Percent of each individual $ell. And the fact you have to go through the Hassle of properly Packing/Shipping it off sounds Ridiculous. 👎 I've heard So many Horror stories about FEEBAY I stay completely Away from both Buying/Selling on there. I do just fine $elling at My Local CardShows & even the lower end stuff at Swapmeets/FleeMarkets. But hey 2 Each There own right....

Most people do NOT stay away from eBay...it's the largest sports card marketplace in the world.

FEEBAY REALLY, REALLY SUCKS!!!
VERY FOOLISH & LAZY WAY TO SELL CARDS.
NOT 2 MENTION U HAVE 2 PACK/SHIP EVERYTHING OUT. 👎
13% fees to sell on the largest marketplace in the world… that’s a heck of a deal.
@CHASINGTYWILSON Well I've heard they also take A Cut/Percent of each individual $ell.
