I think the monster is the same guy that the main protagonist talks to in that final area. Backrooms has some weird time travel stuff, so basically while the protagonist talks to the other person he is basically talking from the future to the past. We know that someone clipped through in that area (because of the shoe with old blood stains around it) and the shoe is also partially stuck in the floor which makes me believe that the guy we talk through clipped in the past and died because of blood loss from part of his foot missing, then got infested by the fungus, which is what we see running towards our main protagonist. This is further supported by the monster missing a chunk out of one of its feet (if you look real closely at the freeze frame) and I doubt that was accidental because Kane Pixels is very good at what he does.
I kinda wonder if he could escape by breaking that vent he was looking at when he was talking to the father, it seemed to be connecting the two dimensions somewhat, and maybe the person who was talking to the father’s kids was the father, but a different version when he got stuck in the backrooms because time doesn’t make sense in there
