The escape with Lisa is one of my favourite moment in games. It feels like satire against all the murder rampages “normal” characters like Nathan Drake go on, and how the side characters around them just act fine instead of being freaked out and terrified of the experience like they should be.
it's great because it's like an action movie if the main characters were real people instead of action heroes.
This is one of the reason i think FC 3 has one of the best stories from any Ubisoft game. The writing team went above and beyond writing a good morality tale and deep characters that have interesting personalities. As Jason kills more and more people and lets chaos rule his heart, the only people showing him this dark path are his friends. Lisa is the mirror of consciousness that reflect all the chaos back at him by showing how concerned she is at what he is becoming.
And even though Jason leaves with his friends on that boat, part of him remains behind on the island and he will never be the same again. His love story with Lisa will probably fail and he will need many years of therapy if he wants to heal from all the trauma.
This is probably going to be the best written Far Cry game ever made and that is a sad fact, looking at how the gaming industry is going nowadays...
The thing is Lazarovic acknowledged this and criticises Nathan drake for being a hypocrite, calling lazarovic a monster when he himself went and killed hundreds of his men that probably had families and ambitions

In origins the ending is basically “you tried to get revenge against a large organisation when you’re only one man, obviously it was an impossible and unrealistic task and you did not succeed, wasting your life for a pointless endeavour and losing your only living family in the process of failing to move on with your loss” you even meet others in the story who are coping with the same situation in different ways. Some clinging to impossibilities like resurrection, others becoming religious fanatics or becoming exactly what they hated in some desperate attempt to get the power necessary to avenge a lost loved one. But in the end they all end up dead or like your character bayek, an empty husk who realised he wasted his life too late and lives the rest of his life having failed to accept reality and it’s too late to regret it. Worn and emotionally exhausting by the time of the dlc’s.

I’m kinda glad that Vaas is alive in his DLC, it shows how fucked the whole island is and how he wanted to escape it. He genuinely loved his sister but she only did traditions and even wanted him to bang her, which he didn’t want to. It’s also an amazing look into his psyche, and the ending is the cherry on top for Vass.
Vaas is a fractured hero. He’s not evil, just incredibly manipulated. Before the fight with Jason he was even considering aligning with the Rakyat once more and starting a war with Hoyt.
Vaas was not a psychopath, he was a product of trauma. The real psychopath is Citra, who singlehandedly has the whole island dancing on the palm of her hand, doing anything she wants without suspecting her. She was the one who degraded Vaas, she is indirectly responsible for every victim of Vaas Montenegro.
Idk, I never liked that he was alive all along. I think that it undermines Jason's character arc.

Killing Vaas was a huge moment to Jason, specially since killing him means that Vaas is reborn in him.
Vaas surviving that event makes that moment less powerfull to me. Also it doesn't make sense, how did he survive?? I get that Jason was drugged but come on, he was stabbed multiple times. Are you telling me that Jason never even got close to him? That's lame in my opinion.
But what is done is done. If he is gonna live, I would like to see him reunite with Jason, to see how they deal with each other now that the actual villian, Citra, is dead.
I absolutely love the fact that he talked for 2 hours straight about far cry 3 and youtube classified it as a far cry 4 video.

i actually like to imagine the southern island being so barren is more so due to Hoyt's influence over there, seeing that him and his private army have occupied there more than the northern island. They're much more tactical with the jungle setting: knowing that they won't operate as well in foilage and any other natural source that isn't the solid ground underneath their feet. so they adapted by clearing the trees so that it's definitely much more accessible to them. it goes to show how much more bigger of a threat they were than the Pirates: making you so vulnerable out the open

I kinda enjoyed the video... But I honestly don't know why they felt it was necessary to go over the story of the game point-by-point from start to finish. For people who know the game it's unnecessary - For people who have yet to play the game it's just spoiling the story. And just retelling the main story in this "book review" form serves no purpose other than proving that you have played the story and know it - And nobody cares.

To be fair the repetiveness of some missions goes with what Vaas tells you. "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting things to change." So by this metric Jason is delving more into insanity.

Don't forget that Jason will always be reminded of the island because of the Tattoo. It's a permanent stain on who he really is.

It’s pretty jarring how he’s making a serious commentary about the fear and guilt after killing someone while the looney tunes running sound effect plays
Honestly the edits themselves are too jarring. Like a 2 hour video is fine and I'm actually interested in watching him go through the game. But the amount of memes is making it hard for me to keep watching. I don't need all these memes to keep my attention, it actually does the opposite because it takes me out of the video.

I was interested in the discussion about the game and I like what he's highlighting about it. I'm just getting whiplash from being invested in him going through the game/what he liked and then some meme or reference that he stops for.
@erin That's a really fair reason for this type of video format. I probably wouldn't pay too much attention if it was a plain video over an hour. I wasn't trying to bash on pyro as much as just saying what didn't work for me and hurt my experience watching. Someone to compare him to is NakeyJakey who does have a fast editing style and jokes thrown in a lot, but his feel more connected to the video than some of the jokes I saw in this.
@erin yeah as someone over the age of 12, pyro's crackhead editing is pretty obnoxious, but he has some interesting points about both the mechanical aspects of the gameplay as well as the philosophical aspect of the storyline and the growth of brody & co, but the video feels at odds with itself. it's jarring when he's trying to present a genuine analysis of a work of media while playing the funny bruh sound clip over and over on top of it

I upload podcasts in 4k sometimes, which are about an hour and a half, and it takes about 18 hours to upload.
This is one of the videos i rewatch all the time and it still never gets boring.

@@P0Pdart I think his point was probably mostly that, whether they're jokes or not, it would be pretty disappointing if a hefty amount of people made a baby brain joke when blood and tears went into something (not literally; I mean, I hope not) Personally I can understand if he felt that way, a friend of mine asked for an in depth analysis of the Star Wars movie timeline and when I sent him all of it he replied with just an angry react (what we do to end a conversation)
I just kinda sat there and thought "well I'll go fuck myself then"
well not fully understand, a lot more time and effort went into this video than my analysis of the Star Wars movies, but I can understand to an extent

Watched this video back in the day and just came back and see it has over 20M views holy shit! I just beat the game and totally loved it, what I hate about these games is that I think they barely give any screen time to characters to develop, even Vaas.

it honestly sucks that Vas wasn’t in the game for longer, but it just shows how effective of a character he really is, especially considering how much of a fan favorite he is with the little amount of screen time he was given.

I think Vaas opening his eyes after you kill him symbolises how Vaas and Jason's experiences on the island will now forever irreversably stay with Jason for the rest of his life
I played far cry 3 for like 2 years straight and I still never realized how deep the story was. awesome video!
One subtle detail I like, is how Jason operates guns throughout the game. The first guns have pretty standard reload animations, but towards the end of the game, new guns will have animations where he flamboyantly flips the magazine and such.

Feels like Vaas was always a monster, but never had a way to express it. He never got the way to express his rage and exert power, and Hoyt was the only channel he had for that.
I was going into this movie like: Eh, I won’t watch it all, like five minutes and then I’m out - but damn, I stayed to the end and it was worth
