Thank you Cassidy. This video is a jewel. I save it for future reference and to share with friends in Argentina and Brazil. It addresses all the possible issues we may (or will) find during winter that we bring the succulents indoors. Thank you again for such a great work!!! 🌱🌵🪴
Thank you for the great information, just started succulents last year, it all new, we just moved to the Southwest from Pennsylvania. It’s so different. We lost some plants in the heat this summer. Glad I brought my pots in, we had a lot of frost this year. I now know the hardy plants. Can’t wait to try some new plants this doring
Our winter this year was soooo dreary and rainy. My plants have struggled even being right in the window. One in particular is in pretty rough condition, but I don't want to cut it back and reroot it until the weather breaks and I can put it outside for the season. I do believe I'll have to invest in a couple of grow lights for next winter, because this year was rough. I don't want to put them through that again.

Thank you for your videos, they are so informative and helpful. I am new to growing succulents and live in a four season climate so my plants are indoors for another month or so. My biggest hurdle seems to be how often to water. I know I should be waiting until the soils dries, but I can’t really tell when that is as I am using the Bonsai Jack which seems to always look dry to me, lol. Any suggestions on how to determine how dry this type of soil is?
Succulents always always always will tell you if they need water you just have to know what to look for. One look and feel for dry soil. Now in your case its different so your next best option is to look for dryness in the plants. Plants will show dryness typically if they shrivel or wrinkle so if you see that just water them. When you water also you don't need to drown them so keep that in mind. 😃🌵
Thanks for the tips on prepping our succulents for wintering indoors. You recommend LED lights, but are the T5 or T8 fluorescents good as well? Thanks, Cassidy!
Either will work. They're really the same lights, just a different size. The T8s are bigger but not necessarily brighter. I would go with whichever ones you can find easily :)
Is it okay to move your succulents around? I keep them on my desk but there is no sunlight reaching over to my desk, so when I wake up I place them in front of my window, would that be fine ? Thank you 😊
I'm new to succulents and I'm planting a teeny tiny black prince succulents tomorrow, but we don't have any special succulent soil in Sweden, or that peble or large particle soil you have. So I'm using my cuttings soil which have like bark and sand and stuff in it. Do you think that's Okey? I'm a bit worried that I'm going to ruin this little guy.
@@Succulentsandsunshine great. I have planted it in the soil I found att my local gardening store (there's only one in a small town like this in Sweden), but I'm gonna keep on looking for a more suitable soil with bigger particles for so I can repot it in a better way. Thanks so much for the help. And love your video.
Help! I’m experiencing major stretching in my large succulents (echivera.. (?) type plant) I haven’t watered them in at least 2 1/2-3 weeks and I have a growing light on them for 12 hrs a day that give them both blue and red lights.. I can’t have them against a window for natural light cuz my cat will get to them.. what do I do?!
Stretching can be a major issue for succulents that don't do well indoors. It's possible they need more time under the grow light, but you could also be using the wrong grow light as well. I cover this in detail in my All About Grow Lights class in the Succulent Lovers Club. Learn more about that here: succulentsandsunshine.com/yt-club
I am a new plant owner. I just found out that my plants are all potted in the wrong soil. It's causing them stress. I really think that I need to repot. I know you are really not supposed to in the winter. But what if it is unavoidable? Help please. Suggestions? Tips?
Yes you are fine to replant them in new soil. Just make sure to use the soak and dry method for watering. Also don't water for a few days after replanting them to allow time for the roots to heal.
I've found that indoor succulents are really easy to care for in the winter. Typically you'll water less frequently and just make sure they're getting plenty of light. My plants grow indoors year round (and have been for 4+ years) and are doing great!
I just wait till they get pruny. Bad succulent mom. 😂. On the other hand my hairy's are getting bigger and more hairy. They shot up over night. They already outgrew one pot!

The succulent video I've been searching weeks for! This is fantastic! Thank you so much!
So glad it helped! :)
Prepping for transition from outside to inside would have been more helpful in October. I'll have to keep it in mind for next year.
Great advice! Thank you so much. I live down in Tucson, so I am always eager to hear your advice for our Arizona weather💜🏵🌿🌵🌿🌵
I recently bought a panda plant and this video really helped me thank you so much.
Thank you !!!! This covers everything I was needing for my Succulents.
I have been waiting for this video so I can be prepared for our upcoming winter

do u use the bonsai jack gritty mix by itself?
Yes :) Also usually a top dressing to lock everything in place
@@Succulentsandsunshine thank u for responding love ur stuff :)
You are very welcome! Glad you have enjoyed it :)
I want to take my succs and cuttings outside this summer, but I'm very worried about bringing bugs back in in the winter, any de-bugging tips?
Keep them quarantined for about a week -- in a garage or somewhere similar -- so you can watch for signs of bug infestations. Good luck! :)

I use an LED light and it has blue and red light. I keep mine on blue
If I had my succulents indoors during the summer months would they need new soil for winter? Or just water less
If they're dormant in the winter, they'll just need less water. :) Learn more about succulent dormancy here:

The most important thing is to have a large particle size (about 6mm), so bark is just great!

What about central heating inside homes? Can that not effect their dormancy?
Succulents that are grown indoors won't experience a "true dormancy." You can learn more about that here:
