Thank you for another great video Laura & Aaron! Succulents are where my love of gardening started and luckily live in a climate where I can just leave them out all year long.
Story time. I went to a wedding in AZ and the wedding gifts to the guests were little succulents from my Mother-in-law's garden. So naturally I grabbed one, I still dont know what kind it is. So, to learn how to take care of it, I found your channel. I have been loving all of the videos, not to mention my surprise that you aren't on HGTV. I now own a bunch of little succulents that decorate my windows and a little planter that I made out of a pot tray. Thank you for all of your teaching moments and videos. I love seeing your garden. #lifegoals
I just got my very 1st succulent plants. 1/2 a doz baby plants. I so appreciate you & at 72 yrs.old Id say it's about time. Never have grown any except for my aloes. Thanks so much.
I just started with succulents. My first two just happen to be the first two recommended in this video. It was just by chance, but I'm happy I chose the Aloe & Zebra.
I'm suffering from PTSD from a tour of duty in Afghanistan in 2009. Well I started growing cannabis to to treat my mental health in a holistic way vice pharma methods. Thank you for teaching the basics of growing plants, which has helped me through the basic learning stages, whether it be for medicinal plants or otherwise. Thank you so much. You're awesome!
Thank you Laura for this video. It has given me the courage to buy succulents after I killed every single one of the succulents that I bought last time. I realized I'm overwatering them. I think i might have more success this time
I also knocked off a couple of succulents myself last year lol. I found that it helps to just mark on a calendar when I water them, rather than trying to schedule the watering outright. It really helped force me to actually check the soil rather than deciding they look "thirsty enough." :p
Thanks Laura! I haven't purchased any succulents in years because I guess my lack of experience. But now, thanks to you, I'm ready to give it another go! Have a beautiful day!
Laura, I enjoy watching all your videos. I have you subscribed under my husbands TV/ UA-cam account so now, we watch together! And btw, Aaron has a twin....our youngest son, Josh. 😊 His gentle demeanor is like him, too! 😊 Laura, I don't comment much but, was very glad to hear you will continue the garden tours this year. Can't wait to see how you decide to landscape / plant that long area you removed the grass from last year by your vegetable garden. It's exciting! Hope you guys have a GREAT year! 😘
Hi Laura 👋. I never really gave succulents a second thought until I watched your videos. I was motivated to try them. For Christmas my niece gave me a small terrarium so I decided it was a good omen and push for me to try my hand at planting it. I am pleased for a first timer.
Somehow I accidentally stumbled on this video while listening to a Nancy Drew audiobook, yet am grateful for that incident since I've always wanted to know more about succulents. 😄😁😃
I have all of these and they've all done really well for me inside. I had them in Florida and now in Wyoming and as long as they get good light, I haven't had a problem with the humidity levels. Thank you for sharing another great video!
Oh how I wish I could have all of these in my house! Alas, I have no useful windowsills ☹️. Our windows have only a 1/4 inch edging. I can’t keep any plants on tabletops due to having 3 cats & 1 dog. I even have my own expert climbing “Russell” who launched himself from the dining room table to throw a vase of fresh cut hydrangea blooms off a shelf that hangs 6ft from the ground! I just love the interesting, beautiful, unique look of succulents! I so want to venture into that plant realm. So, if you ever wanna discuss succulents that can be grown outside in pots or in ground, I’d be thrilled to watch that video! I yearn for this beauty!
Thank you so much Laura for the great information. I love succulents, I have quite a few outside, and I like that they are low maintenance. As I’ve gotten older and I physically cannot always keep up with my garden the way I used to 😞 succulents are the way to go. Thank you again. It’s always a pleasure watching your videos.
Thank you!! I just moved into my own apartment in December and the first thing I bought was a little jewel succulent from our hardware store. I'm gonna get some grow lights and try and expand my collection. I see a ton of jade in my future :D
I think this is a great list and some really good tips on which types of succulents to avoid, I've tried to make most people I know are interested in succulents aware of which plants do well indoors and it's almost the same list!
This is so unforgivably off topic but...would you ever consider doing a hair tutorial?? 😶 I've watched you for years and watched you go from blonde to dark and short to long and it seems like you've found a signature color and style that really suits you. I also have long straight hair and would love to see how you make yours look so polished. Thank you Laura! Much love from Missouri.
Right! But it may be also her hair type. I have friends who "style" their hair everyday but, their hair is naturally lustrous and thick and it takes them no time at all for big pay off. I could be styling my hair for hours, to shiny perfection, just for it to frizz up and oddly kink again in way less time than it took me to style it. For my hair it isn't worth it, it ends up in a bushy, frizzy ponytail every day.
She has addressed before that she doesn’t think it would be well received on a gardening channel, unless she did something on twitter or Instagram, but I doubt she is going to do it on this channel
yup. I've an aloe vera in a small pot that I may need to swap up come spring time. I also have the Gasteria succulent. two beauties that don't require a lot of maintenance.
This is a great list. I find these the easiest as well but I still get the rosettes because I can’t help myself! I do have some grow lights which help but they do still stretch. When they stretch can they just be planted deeper? I just repotted a ton of babies that I have so I’m experimenting and did just that with some taller ones that I had. I was able to refresh some planters with just the babies I had from leaves! That was exciting!
Thanks - great advice. Donkeys tail is an interesting choice, I think you nailed it when you said "plant it and leave it". I find even bumping this plant causes leaves to drop. If I am careful and ignore it, it is lovely.
I agree leaving the Eches alone is hard. But do it for your pants budget. Every summer I get a few of them and they do amazing over the summer. Then they fall apart over the winter and four of one variety become one sprouted leaf that made it to spring.
After watching this I have decided that I'm that person who gave my succulents "to much love" and killed them with kindness... I guess I'll try planting them again but this time around I won't be so overzealous about watering them. Thanks for this very helpful video Laura. I loved your comment about Russell pruning the Donkey's Tail Sedum.
Great video, as always. I’d classify myself as a succulents intermediate - relatively good luck (good processes) indoors but I have no luck with Rainbow Elephant Bush. Not sure why. I’ve admired your use in planters. Inspired to try again. Thanks. 🙏
I have a all of these varieties growing at home currently except the donkey’s tail which I have never seen in garden centres here. Thanks for sharing great video😃
Im in z7 and my aloe tripled or more in size in less than a year, but it has slowed down a tiny bit since being brought inside last fall. Super happy still though! Went from a maybe 7 inch wide leaf spread to probably 2 feet now
Love this! I had a zebra plant indoors for a bit but mine curled up. (East window with a big tree across the way) I keep my succulents outside but I'm tempted to experiment with gasteria now.. Especially seeing how nice the ones in the video were! I only knew about the ox tongue kind and I didnt know if I liked or not but this video makes me want to dive into more species.
Bee watching several of your succulent videos and have been inspired to put together a succulent pot! I just placed my first order at leaf & clay!! Very excited!
I'm good with growing aloe, jade and harworthia. Every other succulent meh. Must also keep my hubbie away from the watering can ... he loves to flood them! Thanks for the tips.
Thank you, I am seriously thinking of venturing out into this new world of succulents. I have tried Aloe but didn't know it neede a special potting soil, it lived but never thrived.
Thank you Laura, I love succulents, and have been trying my hand on them and having pretty good success, I want to get a few of the varieties you suggested as the lighting conditions where I have my succulents now are okay but not really sunny all the time. Love your videos so much they are so full of great information. Have a great day and see you in the next one.
That Gasteria is impossible to kill! LOL!! It's an awesome plant for a beginner, but it does get large over time. My aloe also got so massive I couldn't bring it in for winter anymore and had to get rid of it. Which was really sad. I love your beautiful arrangements and your clear instructions. I thought my Gasteria was a Haworthia all this time.🌵
Cat Lockhart nobody wanted it! It was not a great time in life then, and I didn’t have the time or energy to split it up and save some of it. I’ve learned to limit my plants because I’m in a very small house with limited space and light and I have to bring everything back in over the winter. That aloe got so big and spiked it wasn’t a great choice for an indoor plant anymore. You can’t give something away if no one wants it. 😭😭😭
great video... I have some succulents on the way for a planting project I am thinking about and now I want to go out and order some more stuff and add to what I have coming. Great inspiration.
Great video Laura! Will you ever do a how-to video on Lithops? They are such odd, interesting looking plants that it would be cool to see what you'd do with them on an arrangement.

I want 1 cactus
I work in a succulent nursery and these are the EXACT succulents I recommend for beginners/indoor plants!
Mariah Ortiz i wanna work in a succulent nursery 🥺

She is spot on! I kill all succulents. I have NOT killed my haworthia or gasteria - BOTH Laura recommends.
GOOD JOB LAURA!🌸
Enjoyed your video.
Haven't waterd my zebra plant in months and it's making me believe it's not real at this point
Is it growing?
The audio and video quality alone make your videos amazing, then you add your sweet personality and tons of knowledge. Favorite UA-camr for sure.
I agree, she does have such a sweet personality and of course, lots of knowledge!
Yes, it feels like chatting with a friend, I’ve never seen another youtuber do a tutorial that has this relaxed and friendly vibe to it
The Haworthia F. (zebra) is beautiful!
Miguel195211 they’re amazing! Of all my succulents, that one is indestructible 😉✨
Thanks Laura! I haven't purchased any succulents in years because I guess my lack of experience. But now, thanks to you, I'm ready to give it another go! Have a beautiful day!

Great video! I love succulents, but they don't always love me. They tend to do best when I forget about them!
Jill Maurer same here! 🌵

Thank you for another lovely coffee and gardening with Laura video!!! I am actually trying to save some succulents at work and this will really help!
Those are some of my favorite succulents. Have a blessed Sunday! 💜
Your channel made me fall in love with succulents. From their I have plants in every room of my house. Now I’m a crazy plant lady lol
Somehow I accidentally stumbled on this video while listening to a Nancy Drew audiobook, yet am grateful for that incident since I've always wanted to know more about succulents. 😄😁😃
I just got a zebra plant. She's so small and gorgeous. I love her color and markings!
I have all of these and they've all done really well for me inside. I had them in Florida and now in Wyoming and as long as they get good light, I haven't had a problem with the humidity levels. Thank you for sharing another great video!
So helpful!! And now I know I have a Gasteria! It is the more compact version you showed. Almost round, ball shaped leaves. So cute. Thanks Laura

Always helpful and delightful! Happy Saturday to you all.
I just got my very first Haworthia. I love it so much. Such an informational video. Thank you for this!❤️

She has said in the past that she actually has wavy/curly hair, so she has to style it every day to get this look.

I love them all there all so unique I am thinking about putting a Succulents garden together this spring thanks for all the tips
I FINALLY learned the name of the plants I have!! Thank you!! I have the zebra one that keeps being a pain but now I know what I've done wrong.

Thank you... that is really informative 👏
that head planter is so lovely! the outer right gasteria the short stumpy one is actually a haworthia. gasterias leaves are never 'windowed'.
where did you get your head planter I LOVE IT
Lisa Norman Laura’s looks like one I saw on Wayfair, but you can Google head planter and find LOTS of options.
Amazon as well
Thanks you for all the information
I would love the exact same system as yours! I also live in Zone 5 and need more space to keep my succulents healthy over the winter.
I only trust Garden Answer when it comes to secculent 😘😘
Nice to see you with another video those are all beautiful! Its amazing how you make everything enjoyable to watch!

How's your bunny doing did you have to move it indoors for the winter or is it still out in the open? Thank You
Great video Laura, now with this my succulents will hopefully survive lol.; happy 1st birthday to Benjamin! Love from the Philippines.
I really appreciate videos like this 💜 I learn a lot as I love plants mainly for terrariums, so I'm always wanting to learn more. Thank you ❤️

Thank u for sharing all ur knowledge. I’ve learned so much from u!!
You are AMAZING !! TY👍🏻😇🙏🏻
Thank you for this video. Very helpful as I am very interested in learning more about indoor plants and their care. Regarding the Aloe plant, will the part of the digit you cut off regenerate? Do they just keep sprouting new digits/leaves so they get wider and wider?
Great advice. Thanks
I love and admire you. Plants are everything ❤
Hello! I have a succulent that someone gave to me, so I'm not sure what the name is, but it looks like a flower with some very cool tones, some greens, blues, and purples. It's grown and grown but the taller it gets the more leaves it drops! I figure it needs pruning or something but I don't know what to do. Do you have a video on how to keep succulents from growing out of control? Thanks!
Love the planeter
We have a question for you about grow lights. I have a 75W LED light with a clamp on it so I can put them on my stand. How close do I put it above my succulents. I have it about 18 inches away, & I will gradually add more time. I have the timer on for just 25 min right now.
Thanks for this video
YES YES YES THANK YOU THANK YOU THANKYOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO MANY THANKYOUS!!!1
In my area in Canada it's really hard to get succulents in the winter😪.....and I can't wait until spring🌿😊
Love your videos! Succulents are expensive in Ontario, Canada. What you’ve shown here is about $100 worth. Is there a way I can get into growing succulents, so that I can have a great variety to make fairy gardens, driftwood ensembles, and other mixtures of different varieties in one display, without breaking the bank? I’ve seen propagating single leaves from jade or stone, but what about all the other varieties, like the zebra, or the sunflower looking ones, etc?
Hey Laura 👋 I actually received clippings of these plants and would like to learn more about propagation. Is this something you can do a video on with these specific plants? Thanks for this video. See you in the next one😁
Ashley N she has tons of videos where she addresses what she does with cuttings, some succulent unboxing videos she mentions it and in some arrangement videos she talks about cuttings but almost all succulent cuttings can be treated the same way, allow the cut to callous over and dry, plant in soil and keep well watered until it forms a strong root system, then you can gradually back off on the water. Which type of cuttings specifically do you have?
@@Jack-oc2xq yes I watch all of her videos. Id like a little more in depth of these specific plants. I have cuttings of the following that she has mentioned and more.
Haworthia/ Gasteria hybrid ( shape mimics haworthia but looks like Gasteria flow) , kalanchoe- chocolate soldier, crassula - lemon lime, portulacaria variegata- rainbow elephant bush. I'll go back and rewatch.
What’s the succulent called right from the Gasteria? Light green? I think I’ve seen different colours of it? Thanks x
Great Tips! Thanks 😉
How do you water your donkey's tail? I just got one and it is pretty dry but the leaves are still plump and not shriveling!
