@@Succulentsandsunshine I know you totally know what you're talking about, so will you give me some advice? My cactus is loosening a bit in it's soil (a baby, about 5-6 inches tall) and leaning slightly. I've tried rotating it to balance the sunlight and I'm following all of your watering advice. Actually the thing about plants getting burned by drops of water is a myth. If it were true, every plant that got rained on followed by bright sun would be burned. It just doesn’t happen.
@DonutCovered Kitty I just got a Kalanchoe Tomentosa myself and from all my research it says that the leaves have a layer to protect them from the sun. that is the fuzz. If they get too much water it won't work as well or get rid of the layer. But I'm not an expert so remember to do some research as well. :)

Greetings from the UK🇬🇧. Thanks for your video, it was really helpful. Used the soak and dry method and one of my cacti almost doubled in size within a few days, a haworthia seedling is now green and healthy. I was worried about giving too much water to a plant in a closed container but having seen positive results on the other two, am now going for it. Thanks very much, only wish I'd found this video sooner and that you were UK based as I can't get the products easily.
I too got bit with the succulent bug. I broke down and bought a good size bag of Bonsai Jack. It is perfect for indoor succulents! I repotted all my indoor ones and crossed my fingers. It’s been 2 months and truly shocked how well they all are growing. I had taken before and today pictures so I was able to compare. Thank you!
chloe5susan That's stuff is good...I make my own soil.. El Nino in the winter time in So Cal gets pounded with lots rain I really thought I was going to lose lots of succulents but because I had fast draining soil of my own 😁 my succulents actually love that winter rain from El nino... Fast draining soil is key... Same goes for our summer heat anytime the heat at night stays above 78 for consecutive nights in so cal it's really not wise to water since the stomata will not open and plant will sit in water again fast draining soil will help.
I bought about 12 of them a couple years ago and have been putting them all in the shower and drenching them then leaving them out in the open sun of a south facing window for like 3-4 months. They seem to love it, all alive and very very big and colourful, even starting to flower this year so will be cool to see.

Thanks for sharing! I’ve learned most plants/houseplants should only be watered if the soil is dry. If they start to yellow or wilt then maybe fertilize with eggshells, coffee grinds, or tea, etc. Learning process!
I water my succulents very minimal. They get a tiny bit of water every Monday. That is a great way of doing it when you are forgetful because if you forget, once or twice, no big deal
Very informative. And to think i was watering my socculents little by little and its been taking them a long time to grow. Now I watered then the way this video said and boom. Roots started to grow.

Your videos are great for the novice succulent grower. I have just begun experimenting with these and so far (with your help) I’ve really enjoyed my new hobby! Thanks!
Exactly how I water my cacti which I've had for years. Literally soak them in water once the soil is dry..after a few weeks I find. This mimicks the natural habitat of drought periods followed by a downpour. Too many people are thinking cacti should be watered minimally...ie..watering them frequently but with the smallest amount of water...this of course means the soil is constantly damp & roots never dry out & therefore develop root rot. Don't be afraid to thoroughly soak them...and let them totally dry out!...as the vid says ;)
This is fantastic, I love you voice and what you have shared will be vital for my small beautiful plant, thanks!! I brought it from the workplace, and given I have been working from home I can now take better care of it. cheers
I've had my succulents for about two month now, and have been using "less is more" for watering. There is no drainage hole, and leaves started falling off after about three weeks, (which I learned is a sign of over-watering) and I freaked out, and barely water them now. This video is really helpful because I now feel like I have a better handle on how to water. Thanks!
Thank you and taking about gritty soil ..Im just new to succulent plants growing them. I struggle with using Catus soil..when I seen this gritty soil just made perfect sense

Thank you! You have the best video for how to water a succulent plant without a drainage hole. I'm excited to take care of my plant my boyfriend gave me for my birthday.
No spray bottle - got it! Drainage holes and the right potting soil. Soak and drain - let it dry out and you get great roots! Good stuff! Measuring water for non-draining pots.
Sounds complicated. I'll just wing it. Only the strong will survive in my household. My sister had succulents on her balcony in a northern country. Just in some regular soil. Got drenched in rain water a lot. Things have been surviving for like 6 years now.
Ricky I stole a leaf from my mom and on a whim put it on a pot of soil and bam I now have a succulent that’s been growing pretty well. I only water it like a shot glass amount like once a week.
I leave my succulents and cacti outside when temperatures are above freezing. They're only houseplants in the winter. I have a big covered patio, so as the shadow moves, the plants receive partial shade so they don't sunburn. Anyway, I put the plants out in the rain when the soil gets dry, which is usually once a week. And they are doing fantastic. Even the ones I bought at Aldi a few years ago. I think rainwater makes a huge difference. Tap water contains all sorts of chemicals, which I'm sure accumulate in the soil.
Hi, I'm going to guess that your day job is not, a used car salesman. Although you did sell me on your video, it was a very well done. I'm in Dallas and I love the fact that you are in Texas. Makes me feel like I'm getting the best advice. Because you know our weather. The others are great and I've learned from them, But their in California, where it seems to have perfect weather all of the time. Not in Texas 😆.
Hi! I'm actually in Arizona :) I'm glad you're enjoying the videos and advice! That's what I love about succulents - I get to teach people how they can grow them anywhere, in their growing environment!
I apologize for thinking you were in Texas. Your videos have been the most helpful to me. They are more informational. For example , the video that spoke of zones. I had never heard of that before, and it excited me, to learn my zone and to find plants that would survive in my environment. Thank you for sharing your videos.
Great advice/ video! Also in Texas...DFW. I recently visited Arizona for the first time. It was very 'Texas-like'. (Well, it was damn hot like Texas.) Lol. & haha...nope... of all the things they say about Texas weather... perfect isn't one of them. Hot? Dry? Bi-polar? Erratic? Unpredictable? Yes. All yeses. Perfect? No. Said no one ever. 😂 I'm used to growing things outdoors here but I've always had 'indoor issues'. This is very helpful! (I also bought a new grow light) 🤞3rd times a charm. Thanks! I wish you both a beautiful day! (& beautiful succulents)
Have you ever grown a euphorbia? I’m growing one right now. It’s called sticks on fire and I love it so much and I love the fact that they protect the self from predators you should try sticks on fire. It’s a beautiful plant.

So helpful! I recently realized I've been under-watering one of my succulents and this video definitely confirmed that. Thank you Cassidy!! I was also wondering - does anyone know the name of the succulent at 5:57?
I’ve been so obsessed with house plants but I’m awful at looking after them!! I got a new succulent baby as a house warming gift and I have been so nervous I’m going to kill it :( people have told me not to water my succulents for months at a time and I had started doing that till some of the bottom leaves had started to turn yellow. I’m so glad I found this video to help me revive and look after Winsley and make him look and feel his best 😇😍😍
@@jmartellus I had to mix it half-and-half with regular soil and it seemed to help with plant growth. I wouldn't do just the Bonsai Jack. It seemed to drain/dry from the top, but stay soaked at the bottom of the pot. I no longer use Bonsai Jack soil, just regular soil and they seem to be ok. The key is not to overwater. I know some people are successful with watering till the plant drains and leaving it alone for weeks, I wasn't. They would die from rot and it didn't matter of the soil. Moderately water, give it 2 weeks. Watch the leaves (shriveling, using its water source) and they'll usually show you need to increase your frequency of watering. If they swell and fall off by themselves or easily, it's usually overwatered and I would check for rot.
Great news for me - I am 74 yrs old and am starting a succulent garden business in Spring...Thank You!
Super exciting!

Im with u on this. you´re position sounds a lot more relaxed :)
Ricky I stole a leaf from my mom and on a whim put it on a pot of soil and bam I now have a succulent that’s been growing pretty well. I only water it like a shot glass amount like once a week.
Yep lol. Succulents are so hard to Kill. This girl is making it sound hard to have them.

Then what am I doing wrong ! ? 🥴
::: Shakes fist at the sky :::
I leave my succulents and cacti outside when temperatures are above freezing. They're only houseplants in the winter. I have a big covered patio, so as the shadow moves, the plants receive partial shade so they don't sunburn. Anyway, I put the plants out in the rain when the soil gets dry, which is usually once a week. And they are doing fantastic. Even the ones I bought at Aldi a few years ago. I think rainwater makes a huge difference. Tap water contains all sorts of chemicals, which I'm sure accumulate in the soil.
Great Instructor supplying super succulents watering instructions!!!!
Useful info, friendly voices and a sweet smile, tq so much Dear, good day and success to us all 😘
I have learned everything I know about succulents. Drawn to Cassidys simple understandable videos. I’m actually getting pretty good at it. Thanks
Hi, I'm going to guess that your day job is not, a used car salesman. Although you did sell me on your video, it was a very well done. I do not have a green thumb whatsoever, but I think I can do it now. Your video is done right in so many ways, speech- nice and clear, I could understand everything you said. Lighting- I could see everything clearly. Instructions as well as problem solving, all make sense. 👏👏👏👍👍
Glad I could help!
Thank you! Clear, concise and my succulents are very grateful
Great Advise...
Here in the AZ desert a good soaking goes a long way!
Really enjoy your wisdom about succulents! I now have more respect for them and have gotten more involved with the ones I have. Thank you!
Makes perfect sense
You should post more I think this channel could become popular you just need to post more. 😀
I love succulents. Thank you for all the tips.
Thank youuu so muchhh for this!
I'm so excited to take care of my new baby and I'm busy checking the internet for tips hahaha
I love your website too!
You're welcome! :) So glad the tips have helped! :)
Very informative! just got mine today and wanna take care of it well. Thank you!
You're so welcome! Knowing your growing zone makes such a big difference in caring for your succulents!
This was a great video! It taught me how to water my succulents correctly with the soak and dry method.
FINALLY taking your advice & ordering succulent mix from Bonsai Jack. Why must I be so stubborn??!!
Thanks you saved me and my plant 😪🌿😊
Fabulously informative video. Thank you
Really nice tips for watering our succulents. Thank million!!
You care very welcome!
Have you ever grown a euphorbia? I’m growing one right now. It’s called sticks on fire and I love it so much and I love the fact that they protect the self from predators you should try sticks on fire. It’s a beautiful plant.
Chloe and Cory Yes! It's a fun one. I currently have some in my garden 😊
I read that euphorbia plants are poison. So do check this out and be careful planting it if you have small children or pets.
That's true! You can read more about it on my post:

Very obsolutely true the tips and method your sharing mam, i will try the other tips to my garden, and ill try demo to my next video thank you and God bless🙏😇
It sounds like Winsley is in good hands! 😊
Love the Susan Aach planter. :)
Of all the succulent videos, yours is the best! Thank you for the info!
Thank you so much! Glad they have been helpful for you 🙂

Thank you for the info! New subscriber! 🖤
How'd it go with the soil?
I use a squeeze bottle for most all of my plants. It really ensures I use as little of water as I can, especially for succies
Finally found a good video about watering succulents! Thanks!
