The good news is that Mark Drury doesn't try to put whip cream on a pile of crap - he owns up to his bad shots. The bad news is that he seems to make A LOT of bad shots.
Personally....with over 40 years of hunting and 20 years as a guide, I've never seen a broadhead hit the phemal artery, and NOT leave a good blood trail! But I can see how hitting the spinal artery would bleed internally with that particular shot! But a Beautiful Buck again Mark, and huge Kudos to you, your crew, and the extraordinary effort put into recovering that beautiful animal!! Congratulations DOD!! 👍
People crying high fence.....no they manage their property the right way and thats why they can get on big deer....he may be able to afford more land and gear now but lets not forget when he broke into the industry it was very different and the only way to get as big as he has was to be killing big deer yearly before he was famous....Mark Drury prob knows more about hunting than most....listen to his podcast....he knows weather, wind, deer habits like no one else.....
I feel like it might of been a mistake to assume that deer traveled a large distance. As far as teachable moments, start your search from the point of impact! But I'll never have the experience Mark has. Great deer. Congratulations sir.
Definitely an sympathize. I shot one earlier this year, hit a twig and it kicked it to the right and missed every single organ and artery in the chest cavity and severed an artery in its front leg and cut its front leg essentially in half and it ran maybe 50 yards and piled up.
They don't hunt high fence. Fair chase only on well managed properties. Every bow hunter makes a bad shot eventually - just part of it. And yes I always use gutting gloves - keeps you clean.
Sometimes they don't bleed externally. So, to your question, no, there wasn't blood to follow, and yes, sometimes blindly wandering around is the only option.
That artery across the back is lucky but lethal. I've killed a deer that way before. They die quick. I had the same thing on a doe. I hit it high and back. I thought I had a long wait and track job only to find my arrow soaked in blood and I actually saw the white belly from where I found arrow. I was going to find my arrow and leave and wait if not for that. Not preferred but I was happy. I know all broadheads kill but luck favors a wider cut. It's simple stats. A wider cut the better chance you hit something good. Still prefer a double long deflator but not complaining.
I had a doe, turn on me as I shot, hit here in the ham, my arrow went in on the right ham and it came out in front of the left shoulder. I let her set 2 hours, no blood but I herd her go down, she had only gone 30 yards from the point of impact. That was shooting 60lbs at 29inch draw and a 3 blade Wasp head. Glad you were able to find such and awesome buck.
Not too many hunters , too many hunters shooting immature bucks. Same thing in southern Illinois , it's disgusting , everyone wants to shoot a big mature buck, very few ever live that long .
Yeah not subscribing or watching anymore vids....trophy hunting is not my thing all the best to people who do it but I’m in it just for the meat and the spiritual experience of claiming and processing my own meat
This isn’t high fenced or steroid deer this what happens when you let a nice buck turn in to a shooter, then turn into a Haus, then finally Turn into holy Jesus and being able to have the patience and the will power to let these 150 class bucks walk for at least 4-5 years straight and pray to god that they live to see another year now that’s hunting and deer management at its finest
PANFISHPHD I'm one who is allergic. Never was until a few years ago. I break out in hives if I touch deer hair or blood. My eyes water and throat swells almost shut if breathe in air when the fur is being disturbed. Doesn't stop me from hunting or processing my on deer tho! Nothing a few beers and medication can't fix hahah
Yes, it would be a great option.. However, I'm assuming that they don't have a dog. They hunt many different farms and probably don't have time to take care of a one. But definitely a viable option!
I think every bow hunter, or even gun hunter for that matter, knows that there are highs and lows. Sometimes we get in our own head too much, or other variables are at play, or it just seems like everything is working against us at the time. At the end of the day, it's about sticking with it and pushing through the tough times. No one's perfect in this industry! Thanks for watching our channel, and good luck this season!
I have said to friends in the past, what are YOU teaching New,young aspiring hunters??? You go look at the spot of the hit for blood. you don't "look at the footage" you don't go get your drone, get your ATV, etc etc.You are TEACHING people you need to be wealthy and PRIVLEGED to hunt. It's a SHAME you think of "Good TV" instead of bringing along younger generations the proper way by teaching the basics.
Calm down Gary. The only shame here is that your jealousy causes those things to stand out to you, rather than the effort and persistence it took to find the deer.
Gary, I hope you are teaching your youngsters how to cut a limb, grind arrow heads from stones, and avoid treestands. That's way too much modern equipment. You prob ought to think before you speak
These boys spend a ton of time, effort , and cash getting these deer to not only grow these giant racks, but stay on their properties, and feel unpreasured enough to move in daylight. My hats off to the drurys for what they’ve accomplished over the years! True game mangers. They’ve worked hard to get where they are. You don’t just buy a farm and walk in and shoot 5.5yr old deer, and I’ll guarantee there are no fences!
I love how appreciative you are of the opportunity...congratulations!
Anyone that hasn't made a bad shot hasn't bow hunted much. It happens. Congratulations on a great buck.
Everyone makes a bad shot in their life but lots of respect for not giving up on finding it
Nick Anderson the problem is. Its consistently a bad shot.
The good news is that Mark Drury doesn't try to put whip cream on a pile of crap - he owns up to his bad shots. The bad news is that he seems to make A LOT of bad shots.

James Watschke. Did you mean femoral artery?

Glad you put in the effort to find him... Whether he's a beast or a button buck.
Definitely an sympathize. I shot one earlier this year, hit a twig and it kicked it to the right and missed every single organ and artery in the chest cavity and severed an artery in its front leg and cut its front leg essentially in half and it ran maybe 50 yards and piled up.
Nice work fellas! Teaching us to never give up.
" i had to hit that artery for him to be this dead" now thats funny.
Would you shoot a 8pointer with a 28inch spread
who wouldn't
I guess he’s a walker on your plot. You asshelmet
Love the videos and DeerCast
Man that was awesome!
everyone makes a bad shot bud every now and then its part of hunting and the adrenaline... Glad you found the deer its a nice one

No video of the hunt
How does he get two buck tags?
Google is your friend. You are allowed two bucks in MO as long as the second is after Nov 10
Just shows that your human .we all make a bad shot every now and then . Nice buck
Was there no blood trail to follow? One does not usually stumble blindly looking for game.
jason l It looked like the arrow entered high on the deer and there wasn't an exit wound. I bet there was little to no blood.
Sometimes they don't bleed externally. So, to your question, no, there wasn't blood to follow, and yes, sometimes blindly wandering around is the only option.
Why no video of shot
It's called respect 👌for that kill
Epic intro
Why would you start searching across the farm?

Another awesome video
my very first deer ever (last year) i hit in the butt artery..i couldn't believe i got her! she ran maybe 120 yards and was down.
Sometimes it just pays to be lucky nice 👍 one

Here in pa we Don,t see deer like that.they don't live long enough. To many hunters
Same here
Not too many hunters , too many hunters shooting immature bucks.
Same thing in southern Illinois , it's disgusting , everyone wants to shoot a big mature buck, very few ever live that long .
You should use cow breeding gloves to gut deer. I do it and I don’t have to wash my hands 7 times when I’m done
What the? I thought You Said Zero the dot, pert fact the shot? IQ Pro.sight.
Great vids
Do you guys eat all your kills
I know the drone covers alot of ground but why not have a scent dog? Are they legal to find a deer that is down? That was a nice buck.
Peter Burroughs they aren’t legal in Minnesota
Timothy Feltner I’m just saying that they aren’t
Yeah not subscribing or watching anymore vids....trophy hunting is not my thing all the best to people who do it but I’m in it just for the meat and the spiritual experience of claiming and processing my own meat
I guess Wade is Part 107 Certified to pilot the drone in support of a business? ite woody
That’s why we use rage son
They definitely do some damage!
Did yall eat him
If its hit in the guts he won't be far away. Get on that track.

who uses gloves to gut a deer?
Garrett Colglazier people that don't want infections
waaaaaa
Garrett Colglazier $1 worth of gloves is well worth the prevention of medical bills to treat an infection
In addition to what deerslayer said, there are lots of people who are allergic to deer hair and cannot gut one without them.
PANFISHPHD I'm one who is allergic. Never was until a few years ago. I break out in hives if I touch deer hair or blood. And is it just me? But I find Matt very annoying and a little too dramatic...
It's all the hand waving. He thinks he's in a rap video.
He seems like the kind of guy that digs Luke Bryan, drinks Zima's and gets "lit" at the "club".
What about a dog?
Yes, it would be a great option.. However, I'm assuming that they don't have a dog. They hunt many different farms and probably don't have time to take care of a one. But definitely a viable option!
Happens but I swear this is the 4th video of you making a bad bow shot ? Come on 🤷🏼♂️ stick to rifle ! 😂

DruryOutdoors no doubt about it, I’m no different and I should get the bow out and practice as much as I can. Good lick to y’all 🤞💯

Gary Keen they are teaching you put everything you have into action and don’t give up, so just shut your mouth you probably don’t even hunt
They are just Head Hunters Takes the hunting out of hunting
Weezy 816 and your a bitch they grow there deer free range
@@markschaefer726 She (or he) didn't say the deer weren't free range. She said the Drurys are head hunters. You know, trophy?
Put me on tv, i can shoot plenty of high fence deer way more ethical than that
everyone makes bad shots

You're an idiot! It's not high fence. They do more for the deer than you likely do for family.
