Back even to howlin wolf , little richard James brown When the guys could sing , but created the screeching we use for extreme stuff . This and Power metal is where you had all the breath support and technique that Phil possess and use even in his departure for his own Thats why , in the more oldschool tricks , you struggle to sing CFH , this Love , and Reinventing the steel stuff . Don't took the hardcore screaming of phil , because hes much more of that . And he took his craft seriously . Very serious

I think Phil has become a very emotional and deep person since he has lost Dimebag. It really shows. Which makes him even more symbolic to me. The guy has seen heartache, sorrow, death, rock bottom. But he is still indestructable.
And I don't care what anyone says, this dude is absolutely high on opiates of some kind in this interview. "Hitting rock bottom" and going through tough times doesn't make a person act and speak this way. I've gone through a hell of a lot in my lifetime too.......including watching friends waste away from being high on heroin and prescription pills. I know exactly what it's like. And I'm telling you, and I hate to do it cause I like Phil, but I'm telling you, I'd bet a lot of money that he was high here in this interview.

He was off heroine before his surgery, that he had in 2005 , because ( maybe because of the type of surgery he had ,or something to do with danger of anesthesia/opiates combined,idk.. the doctors told him they would'nt perform the surgery before he was off heroine. O don't think at this time (2008) he was still a junky. I also think he wasn't on methadone anymore. I can't remember wich exacetly intervieuw or documentaire is saw him telling this story . But it's up here somewhere . I'll think he was stoned of his ass here 😂 .. and i'm from Holland, i can tell . ( joking)

@@darryl163 they're good for being on it for 10 years. You just gotta take extra care of them. Floss, brush, and use mouthwash 3 times a day and also make sure you go to your checkups. My teeth are kind of stained gettin coffee and stuff but they were like that for a while before methadone. Lots of people get on methadone and do other drugs like crack and then don't give a shit about the teeth.

Heroin dries out your mouth and vocal chords and does add a bit of depth to your voice and a bit of that crackiness your hearing. You can mosdef tell he's right ripped in this interview. And with the kind of money he's had access to, if he actually has kicked, it must have been a right fucking miserable one. I've babysat my brother on a few of his many kicks from heroin and it's awful let me tell you.

Probably methadone for pain relief to help recover from the surgery. it's what they give to heroin addicts as a substitute when trying to kick the needle anyway, so he was probably using it for both reasons and the side effects are all he showing here. it's obviously works because he's clean(ish) now especially where that poison h is concerned.
To me, Anselmo has always been an interesting artist. Full of experience and expression, and yes, weed, which actually makes him a more interesting artist...

All you gotta do is watch an interview from 1990-1992 when he was really young and compare it to interviews like this and you can see and hear the differences in him. I know it can (and does) happen to us all. But just to talk specifically about him, it's really too bad.

actually if phil ever gets back to heavy heavy heavy metal, he'll make it as big as pantera, phil was a big part of the integrity of the songs. so stop giving all the goddamn credit to dimebag just because he left us. and stop whinning for fuck's sake, half of you didn't even know pantera before dimebag died.

And now with the surgery it is probably gonna get him hooked on some other opiates which is sad. but i hope he comes through and lives a full life.

Every interview he seems like this. I think he's always like this, it could perminate, I hope for his sake it's not. But I agree if he is on drugs and hes like this all the time I don't think he has many years of him...which is a shame.
