How to clean a shark duoclean roller anti hair wrap cordless vacuum (IZ201UK)

- How to clean shark vacuum with duoclean rollers and anti hair wrap technology. In America this this model is also known as the vertex.
The shark cordless vacuum im using here is the shark iz201uk with the duoclean two rollers.
See my other video for the review on this.
How to clean your shark vacuum is very easy if you follow the how to steps.
The shark Duoclean doesnt allow the main roller to be removed for cleaning the front roller can be removed.
I had noticed that in other groups and social media that the plastic casing was hard to clean and people were struggling to clean this.
I made this video as the anti hair wrap roller as far as I am aware doesn't come out.
I use just normal household items including a cleaning cloth (thin) 2 pence piece, towel and a paintbrush.
Feel free to use my hints and tips to get your vacuum looking nice.
PLEASE BE CAREFUL FOLLOWING THIS VIDEO USE A THIN CLOTH AND PUSH THROUGH SLOWLY IF NOT THIS COULD DAMAGE YOUR VACUUM

Thank you, this was a lifesaver today when it accidentally sucked up something sticky. Worked like a charm! If you have unused straw-cleaning brushes lying around, they are brilliant too. I used some 70% alcohol solution to disinfect and also ran through a strong tissue paper in the end to wipe it dry.

Thanks for this. Solved the pick up and turning off issues as there was a wad of dirt stuck in the flexi tube at the bottom that connects to the cleaner all working now!
That’s great news that it is all used I always recommend listening to the machine id it’s sounds like air coming out that is the air release mechanism this means a a blockage. Thank you for sharing your issue and thank you for your support.
Cheers mate. It was pissing me off because I could remove the plastic cover on my older Shark model. Using your method of pulling the cloth through worked a treat 👍🏻

Genius!!! My kids have just hoovered up damp bicarbonate of soda (don't ask) and it's smeared all over the inside of the top lid. I was frustrated because other Shark models allow you to remove the lid and this one doesn't - you've just given me the answer!!! Cheers!

OMG, mine is filthy with 4 dogs, and it's the first time I've tried to clean it. I'm shocked the roller doesn't come out and I'm going to try your method. Thank you. The roller looks like it should be removable, but I couldn't work out how.
Yes it’s not a good design not sure why even just the plastic top isn’t removable even to clean that
Thank you very much for this, I am usually extremely sceptical pulling things apart but your tutorial step by step was very good and my Shark model which is identical to the one shown on the video was blocked and not performing as well as it should be in fact at times the power was turning off probably be because of it. Thank you for a very useful and informative video. It could be worthwhile mentioning checking the long tube between the two ends. My Shark wasn't picking up very well and on checking this tube found it was blocked with fluff

Glad to find this. I just cleaned enough hair to create a new dog out of the foamy “anti wrap” roller thing of my shark vertex. A LOT of hair. But what I couldn’t get out was the hair around the two tiny wheels, wrapped up tight, plus around the hidden wheel at the end of the roller. Not sure how to get that out. I didn’t expect this thing to collect hair like that, but at least it was on that front roll and not the vacuum roll, I guess.
Thank you for the support and comment, I will have another video coming soon with how to Clean the really small wheels however if you us a normal knife you can lever them out I noticed too mine used to get loads of hair around them also if you find the roller getting full the Main one then run it on hard floor for a bit again I have another video on that one too

Afraid not a not so good design flaw I’m sure it did on other models but annoyingly not on this one the videos I have done have been the only way I can clean it

Belter mate. Was bored and decided to clean the manky shark. Was bordering on just forcing the anti hair wrap roller thing out and thankfully found this.

Thank you so much for this video. This machine is great but looks awful after a while as you just cant clean it properly! Your suggestions worked a treat! Also good call on the 'only mildly damp' cloth suggestion, I ruined a hardfloor cleaner by getting the roller mechanism wet whilst cleaning it and the bolt rusted rendering it useless! (which is weird since it was designed to suck up water!)

You can wash the front roller. You can easily remove the rear roller and clean the window that way. You will need to do that if the belt snaps anyway. Simply running a cloth around the main roller does not clean the area properly.
Thank you yes I was aware the front roller can be cleaned but the second roller looked a bit more complicated to remove and then put back due to the belt, thank you for your help

Is it possible to remove the small wheels near the teeth? I assume they just clip in / out but don't want to damage them.
Yes they do they get hair stuck in them they are hard to push back in but give it a bit of force I did do a video however haven’t had time to upload at the moment. Thank you for watching and commenting

@@decisionsdecisions8906 tbh I'm kinda glad it doesn't as mrs says can you clean it out it needs doing and I was watching the video and was like oh that bit doesn't come out... what a shame 😂 but it is loads better and even though it's "anti-hair wrap" it doesn't like my mrs hair as it's down to her bum very long 😂 so it's all unwrapped now anyway! It’s so annoying that the top lid doesn’t come off, I’ve found that using a little baby bottle cleaning brush also works well with cleaning the inside as it’s wire and you can bend it in 👍🏻👍🏻

itslulu yes I believe it’s pretty much the same check out my other videos as then you can see the full vacuum to compare to yours I’m not sure if your version was the pet version if it help you please be sure to give it a thumbs up
Wish I had seen this before I bought this model. What a deign flaw!. Stuffing damp cloths behind the roller with a pencil is very poor solution. I would expect it is to stop you replacing the parts yourself so that you have to pay for any repairs. But cleannig is blocked in doing so. Thanks for the informative video. No more Shark products for me!
I totally agree the design in this doesn’t have the end user in mind and o hope that shark see this and change the design

Hi I have a shark ion and the brush roller is not spinning cleaned it and removed any blockages and still not working any help?
Sounds like the motor or belt has an issue I would contact shark and I’m sure they would advise and replace
Use a compressor to blow the head clean and then clean the filters with air as well. I have a different model, but it's the same methodology, 10 minutes max you're done. Do it outside, very dusty.

I haven’t tried and would always recommend speaking to shark themselves but I wouldn’t see any reason why not aslong as it’s fully dried and not cleaned with anything harsh
I’ve just got the machine today, and within 5 minutes the little roller wheels underneath have clogged with hair. Much the same as I’ve found with Dyson’s. Do you know if they pop out or is there a quick way to clear? I notice you don’t seem to have this issue.
Barry Munckton Hi mate yes I just cleared mine out now I used a normal knife not sharp I levered it to one side and it popped out to put back again put on one side and push on the other hope this helps you I might in the future do a video for this if there’s anything else you think might help people let me know

James Willcocks I didn’t get chance I am afraid use a small blunt knife and ease it out they have 2 lugs which when inserting these back in make sure these click back in

Shannon Lowe hi I have another video on my channel with how to clean the filter which shows you which to clean and which not aslong as it’s not any electric components and it’s totally dry before use then your fine
Hi i have the same hoover you can look up cleaning instructions online but it does state you remive the filters and give it a rinse under the tap it is safe to get in gaps i usually use a toothbrush or cloth and poke it in with a pencil or something narrow. Results are great just make sure you lay it on its side for 24 hours to completely dry

By top you mean the clear bit then no the only way to clean is the way shown on the video such a shame they didn’t make it like that the older ones did have that

Do you know how to get the main roller out, our power nozzle jammed, a new one is on the way, however I'd like to take this out and see why its jammed ?
Afraid not it doesn’t come out without dismantling it all I would remove the back piece where it sucks up the tube as seen in this video and see if it’s stuck in there
@@decisionsdecisions8906 after a lot of effort I managed to get it out, the sides around the top of the frame come off revealing a few more screws.

You can get the front roller off but not the other easy I would contact shark and see if they can replace the unit

Depends what model you have but the nv801ukt has 2 buttons on the top which release the cover if not let me know and I will find out more for you
I also think if it has anti hair wrap then yes it’s pretty much the same as my version I know that the front roller will come off exactly the same just look at my video once you open it with the coin should be straight forward
Hang on, I can’t figure out how to take the head of the vacuum off the hoover pip 🧐
