Foods to avoid for hypothyroidism: 1. Cassava 2. Lima beans 3. Sorgum 4. Sweet potato 5. Flax seed 6. Cruciferous vegetables 7. Millet 8. Soy products 9. Onions 10. Gluten If you have cruciferous vegetables in very small amounts (less than five ounces), it shouldn’t be a problem. Cooking, steaming, or fermenting cruciferous vegetables also reduces their goitrogenic effect. Having sea kelp as well may also help. You would also want to avoid anything that depletes selenium, iodine, iron, and vitamin A. Good sources of selenium and iodine: • Seafood • Sea kelp • Sea salt Good sources of iron: • Red meat • Animal products Good sources of vitamin A: • Egg yolks • Butter • Cod liver oil • Beef liver
The suggestion to have more kelp is based on the simple fact that thyroid hormone uses iodine rather than any real-life evidence. Iodine is in fact very heavily present in the standard modern diet. If anything we need less of it.
I was a big consumer of wheat products (bread, cookies, cakes, pies) when younger. And like most of my generation, we were brought up on it. When I was in my late 30s, I had an episode where my throat felt like it had come under attack - a very sore throat and ears for several days. Not thinking it was my thyroid, I didn't get it checked out then, but did a year later when I was exhibiting classic low thyroid symptoms, (fatigue, felt cold most of the time, aching joints & generally grumpy and my neck looked swollen). I was put on a low dose of Thyroxin which I took for a few years before I went to see a Nutritional consultant. The resulting diet (no wheat, dairy, yeast or sugars as a leaky gut was also suspected) was a complete change from what I was accustomed to eating, but once I understood that my diet was the reason behind my problems, I stuck with it. That was 1997. By 1999, I decided to quit taking the thyroxin as I wanted to see how I would do without it. And I never went back as my thyroid has continued to improve. Now I do also like that the food industry has also made gluten free products more widely available since I began this journey to better health - it has made me feel like I'm not missing out when I feel the need to have a piece of bread. What has really been a game changer the last few years has been the availability of health information on the internet by caring people like you who are helping to educate us to the importance of our diets and the value of supplements . And done in such a way that we can understand the reasons and processes. Thank you very much.
I did same went on functional medicine in one year great improvement my hair looked lively but only for a day, I was happy that my thyroid is gone, the very next day my hairs and eyebrow hairs started falling and now my hair is very very thin and dull . I want to know if L Reuteri will be good for people with hypothyroid I wasted my $$$$ on this functional medicine treatment.
I had no idea about the flax, sweet potato....and onion. Ughh. Gluten is definitely on my no list. Holy smokes it is awful. Dropped gluten before I even realized I was hypothyroid. Thank you for the heads up ❤ TRULY grateful for all the info! Have a great weekend all!
I’m with ya. I had no idea those 3 were not good for thyroid issues. I have Celiac and my thyroid was flaring up before I went completely off dairy. I put flax seed meal in my smoothies and sometimes it makes me cough and my throat swell. 😬
I had mild symptoms of hypothyroidism for a while, like tiredness and weight gain, though I've never thought that they were serious enough to check with a doctor, so I decided to stick to healthy diet and take supplement instead to treat these probs. The only 2 things that improved how I feel greatly were: fatty fish; like salmon, and fresh ginger. I could understand why salmon would make me feel better (because of the zinc and the iodine obviously) but I couldn't understand why fresh ginger is good too, until I found that it has iron, which as well can help convert T4 to T3. Thanks for your videos Dr Berg 🌸
Sharing Dr Bergs notes on this important episode! Goitrogens are things that cause a goiter. A goiter is an enlarged thyroid gland. Goitrogenic foods interfere with certain enzymes and hormones and can lead to a goiter. Foods to avoid for hypothyroidism: 1. Cassava 2. Lima beans 3. Sorgum 4. Sweet potato 5. Flax seed 6. Cruciferous vegetables 7. Millet 8. Soy products 9. Onions 10. Gluten If you have cruciferous vegetables in very small amounts (less than five ounces), it shouldn’t be a problem. The negative long-term consequences of ketogenic diets may far outweigh any potential short-term benefits, according to a comprehensive new review published in Frontiers in Nutrition. Keto diets have skyrocketed in popularity over the last decade due to their ability to promote quick weight loss. Typically very low in carbohydrates, modest in protein, and high in fats, the aim of keto diets is to push the body into ketosis-the state in which the body uses fat for fuel. Foods like red meat, fish, nuts, cream, eggs, cheese, oil, and non-starchy vegetables are given the green light while starchy vegetables, fruit, whole grains, beans, and lentils are avoided as much as possible. For this latest meta-analysis, a group of physicians, researchers, and registered dietitians analyzed more than 100 peer-reviewed studies on keto diets to identify long-term effects. They found that people who follow such diets have a significantly increased risk of developing heart disease, LDL cholesterol buildup, kidney failure, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, and cancer. They also discovered that keto diets are particularly dangerous for people who are currently pregnant or may become pregnant. Low-carbohydrate diets are linked to birth defects, particularly neural tube defects, and gestational diabetes even if the pregnant person is taking folic acid supplements. Additionally, for those living with chronic kidney disease (CKD), the high amounts of protein consumed on the keto diet can place excess stress on the kidneys and worsen the long-term internal damage of CKD. So why does this diet have such negative side effects? The study’s authors suggest that it has to do with the nutrient quality of the food being eaten. “The foods that are emphasized on a keto diet are the very products that cause colon cancer, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s disease,” says study co-author Neal Barnard, MD, FACC, president of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine and an adjunct professor of medicine at George Washington University School of Medicine. “New research also shows that these same foods raise the risk for severe COVID-19.” This sentiment is echoed by lead review author Lee Crosby, RD. “The typical keto diet is a disease-promoting disaster,” says Crosby. “Loading up on red meat, processed meat, and saturated fat and restricting carbohydrate-rich vegetables, fruits, legumes, and whole grains is a recipe for bad health.” Originally developed in the 1920s as a treatment for patients with severe drug-resistant epilepsy, the keto diet has been shown to be effective for reducing seizures in extreme cases. Scientists believe the diet decreases seizures by making less glucose available to fuel neurons. And although the study authors concluded that eating keto could be beneficial for seizure management, they say the risks far outweigh the rewards for most people. Instead of going keto, Barnard suggests a whole food, plant-based diet: “On a low-calorie diet, people might lose weight, but they have to go hungry to do it. On a keto diet, they might lose weight but they feel guilty if they have an apple, banana, slice of bread, or a cookie. On a plant-based diet, you get the best of all worlds: weight loss, delicious food, better overall health, and you’re never hungry.”
I have a hypothyroid. I don't eat a lot of onions, but I do take the supplement Quercetin/Bromelain. I also have had IBS w/diarrhea and no doctor has ever suggested to avoid gluten, nor have I ever been tested. It annoys me, that when I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, no doctor ever mentioned to avoid certain foods. Just like when I had my gallbladder removed I wasn't given any dietary advice. I really appreciate any advice Dr Berg.
I have Hypothyroid for 10 years now and i am managing it pretty well to normal blood levels with selenium, low gluten/low carb, lots of sea salt (athlete who sweats a lot), lots of dairy like cheese and butter. No thyroid medication(never had any benefit from them only the side effects). I do have hay fever this year and just ordered some Quercetin/Bromelain for it as well, curious if it affects the thyroid if i take it some days in the summer
Doctors prescribe meds. They won't tell you about how you can avoid the meds by fixing your diet. (Unless you ask) I'm unmedicated now after trying for 2 1/2 years to get the right dosage of Levothyroxine. It was a rollercoaster of hypo/hyperthyroid symptoms. I changed my diet significantly and feel SO much better. My hair and nails are growing, my skin looks better. Overall I feel great. My Doctor has me written as an uncooperative patient because I won't take the meds. So I just don't go now, which sucks because I really liked her before that. I may end up having to be on meds later in life, but for now I really feel this is the best for me. I know how I'm feeling after all. (I'm 55, btw)
@@chrisparkerbella4543 Have u tried cutting down on the #9 Goitrogenic foods he lists in this video? I have probably Hyper thyroid so Idk if I need to do the opposite of what this video says. I feel like my Thyroid Nodules are growing! 😪😐😐 I understand your concern 🙏
Wow! Thank you Doc. Eric for this video! I have low thyroid since last year. My metabolism has slowed down because of my thyroid and been gaining weight.🌹
Fascinating information I am traveling in Italy and finding their foods do not have the GMOs that we have in the US! I have had no trouble eating pasta or pizza and desserts❤
I have been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism (age 63). I don't have and never had symptoms. I have high energy, gym, bike, run, (always had), no hair loss etc. Eat well. I was shocked at my lab results showing high cholesterol. My doctor gave me good advice on what to eat - dried seaweed and brazil nuts, berberine, bergamot before every going on meds. 2 years and 4 lab tests later, my results consistently improved. NO MEDS. I just ordered Dr. Bergs Thyroid package. Now I am following more carefully on what foods not to eat - I eat some listed, sometimes. Onion, ouch, I have onion daily in my salad.
You need cholesterol for your brain and for hormones. Especially post menopause. The test is if there is plaque in your arteries. Do you have arterial stenosis? If you feel great then you don't have symptoms that need treating.
I always thought goiter is the result of having not enough iodine in your diet. I come from a region where there used to be at least one person in each family with a goiter and almost everybody had thyroid problems. With the adding of iodine to salt the goiters became rare but I now realize cabbage, onions and gluten products were stable foods too.
Stay away from iodized salt. It's not a natural salt. Use Celtic salt or Himalayan salt because they have the highest amounts of minerals that your body needs. Sipplement your body with iodine such as Iodoral.
Thank you so much Dr Berg mate!!!! I’m so stoked. This is what I was requesting hoping you would do a video on. I’m a Melanoma and Thyroid Cancer survivor. Losing my whole Thyroid was the worst thing that has ever happened to me. It has totally changed my life. For the worst. We don’t realise how important your thyroid gland is, until it’s gone. I’m writing these tips down in my “Thyroid Book”. What’s that you say? 🧐 the TP is a little notebook that I write any good tips or anything I think I’d try, or things I’ve read. I like a hard copy over a computer file, I take it with me everywhere. I loaned it twice now that the 2 ladies copied. It’s just an idea I like to share, as someone else might try it. There is a lot hits of yours DR Berg, regarding all cancer type hints and tricks. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
I had a coworker whose thyroid was removed so she had to take Synthroid. I told her about coconut oil and she started taking 1 spoonful every day. Her Synthroid dose had to be reduced, so coconut oil did something to help. In her case, anyway. Just sharing so you can learn more about it if you choose.
@@w1975bthank you very much for your reply. I do the Indian “Pulling” with coconut oil everyday for teeth health and they believe it also removes bad bacteria in the mouth. I do sometimes eat some too which I’ve heard was good for other health benefits. But I will now definitely try what your work mate does. Thanks again
@@JustaKarenDiscoveredTheIntrnet gday mate Gday mate, well there has been quite a few problems since having a full thyroidectomy some are also from the radiation therapy etc. Weight gain was expected but not as much as I have. I was quite fit before, surfing, skating, hiking, helped coach sons AFL footy team, singing in a band for years etc. Im just about to turn 51 and still try to keep fit, but it’s really hard to lose the weight, I put on nearly 20kgs! But the exhaustion I feel everyday! Is really bad. I’ve had my Thyroxine (synthetic thyroid medication) increased, lowered, up and down like a yo-yo, but it didn’t help. I’ve really got to force myself to get out of bed to do stuff, I broke up with my partner at the time as she thought I was now lazy as before I was so active. I had to give up my job as a tattoo artist as my hands had become to shaky. My beard when I grew back was no where near as thick as it was, it’s dumb but I used to enter “beard competitions” and often win, I don’t know, my hair is super dry, brittle and falls out badly. It stuffed up my testosterone badly so I had to go on Testosterone replacement at 40, it wasn’t a age thing as that was all tested before. The radiation therapy caused some of the lubricantion glands in my eye lids to stop working, I was then also diagnosed with Glaucoma (not sure if it’s related, but it was 4 months after it started to cause problems) so there is quite a few. I’m not sure if men are affected in the same way as women? I know the percentage of the population who get it are women are more likely to have thyroid problems over men? Anyway thanks for the question. Cheers
🍃🌤Good Morning, Queensland Australia. 7:00am I'm sorry to hear of all the complications with your health. The overall tone I heard that sounded in your message was... "She'll be right mate, gotta hang in there." Thank you for your courage. Keep up the Aussie spirit. We're proud of you. 🤗 🍃💛🍃
Omg, these foods to avoid are mostly the foods I consumed on regular basis, I have enlarge thyroid gland at the lower right of my throat, supposedly goiter, is it same as hashimoto ? one doc suggest I removed it thru surgery though I'm having second thoughts and thinking if there's other option to consider in the form of natural foods or vitamins to reduce or get rid of the swelling
You recently put out a video about drinking cabbage juice daily to fight intestinal inflammation. I bought a juicer the second after that video. Now I see this video and realize I can’t have cabbage juice with hypothyroidism. I can’t keep up. I would love an alternative anti inflammatory list of produce for the pricey juicer that I just invested in to fight gut inflammation that won’t wreck my already damaged thyroid
Sometimes I feel like I’m going around in circles…… Was thrilled yesterday, to find out flaxseed oil is improving my eyesight…. Just found out, not to take because of my thyroid. Hashimoto’s Frustration building here….
A good thing to do for your eyes is to put castor oil on your eyelids before you go to sleep. It helps with wrinkles too. Castor oil is one of the best oils because it absorbs deep into the skin. It helps get rid of floaters & improves general eyesight, it also helps with dry eye too!! I use it every night. I also put it on my lashes too to make them grow thick and strong!!
Someone I know who thought she was dealing with a thyroid issue several years back entirely eliminated goitrogens from her diet, and the result was permanent elimination of hot flashes. Anyone else?
Hello Dr. Berg, In most of your videos about diet and fasting, you recommend cruciferous vegetables and recommending 7 cups per day. but if I can only eat 5oz of cruciferous vegetables because of thyroid issues, what other vegetables can I eat to follow your recommended diet plan? Thank you.
Cruciferous vegetables are the only ones on that list that I eat as he recommends. Not quite 7 cups a day but a heaping salad. I’m going to continue eating my salad because I’m also taking sea kelp. I think I’ll be OK. I enjoy yourself and I’m not gonna cut that out.
@@chanwmalichani also have hypothyroidism and i looked for the strategies to deal with it in short you can either consume 7 - 10 cups of leafy greens or 4-5 cups of cruseferous veggies and you can take sea kelp at the same time one capsule a day to get your rda of iodine and compensate the slight deficiency that caused by the crusefrous veggies . 1 capsule of now kelp supplement contains 325mg wich equals more than double of the rda of iodine and it's pretty cheap
Small amounts of broccoli, cauliflower, onions, and brussels sprouts? Are you trying to kill me? 😭 Those are some of my favorites, especially broccoli and onions!! And no cassava flour? I changed to that because I was trying to drop gluten. 😬 It's like a minefield out there!
Hi Doc, first I wanna thank you for heliping me and thousands of people to get healthier. Dr. Berg, what if you are hypothyroid due to ablation of thyroid, due to Graves … is it recommended to avoid same foods you describe on this video, or not? Thank you for your help!

Found the start of goiter formation at 47. My PCP and endocrinologist never mentioned foods to stay away from. Just said to monitor it. Took the left lobe of the throid 3 yrs later as the nodules starting growing and I had became hypo. About 6mos after the surgery I was eating cashew chicken which I didn't eat very often. Started going anaphylactic, went to the Dr to get tested. Allergic to Soy and chicken 😮 Everything is loaded with soy it's been a drag ever since not being able to eat chicken 😟
I have hypothyroidism. But I have taken your recommendation to eat once a day a huge salad of cruciferous vegetables. But I’m also taking your seek help and I am also taking thyroid aid. I can’t think of the name of it right now do I want to continue eating my big salad?
First of all I'd like to thank you for all these precious advice that you're giving. Could you please make a video about what to eat after a stroke (brain hemorrhage with after effects like foot paralyzed and spasticity ) and thanks again

Same for my elderly mother and she always feels cold, is tired and doesn’t feel well within herself. I’m still not convinced she needed to get them removed and her doctor managed to frighten her into taking them out.
I’ve been taking your sea kelp for about a year now and now my thyroid levels are more stable and in fact every time I go to the thyroid Dr they lessen the amount of synthroid needed to maintain good level. Remember as well every time loose weight , amount of meds needed have to change as well!
What kind of millet are you talking about in particular? Or we just have to avoid all kind of millets? In India we have a variety- pearl millet, finger millet, foxtail millet, Barnyard millet, and many more.
I had over achieve thyroid, really bad lost 3 stone in a month, with tones of symptoms went from 9stone to 7stone was really ill, I had to beg for a blood test as doctors wouldn’t do any sort of tests, just send me on ma way, I went vegan to see if it helped, when i did get help the tablets was what made things go worse too heavy a dose and I went to being nearly 12stone in weight which I had never been that sort of weight, I then got the enlarged thyroid, which made breathing hard, I was told it would never go down in size and I needed my thyroid cut-taking out and be on tablets for rest of life, I didn’t get it cut out as it’s important part of my body, it ends up I had also started early menopause, but I really don’t like meat and never did eat much of any meat all my life, so now this video is saying all the stuff i eat I shouldn’t eat, I’m lost and want to be healthy, just thinking that I need to eat meat makes me want to be sick. What else can I do, my thyroid has come down in size, when they said it never will, I’ve put on weight again and they now wouldn’t help me with my menopause, they can’t get the tablets thats to be taken with the gel for HRT, so now I’m on nothing and I really don’t want to get depressed again and feel like ending my life again this has been all going on from 2014
I have been taking DIM 200mg per day for 2 months, my random thyroid test last week shows 5.4 which should be considered as hypothyroidism, I am 27 years old, have no history or symptoms of Thyroid issues, could it be the DIM that has made it go above the normal level?
My most recent Thyroid profile shows an extremely high TSH with normal (within range) T3 and T4. I used to be on Thyroxin (for Hypothyrodism) for years and then doctor got me off that 4 years earlier because my Thyroid profile was normal. I am overweight (sedentary lifestyle because of demanding work) and have vertical ridges on my nails which appeared in last 1 year or so. I am tired most of the times even after waking up after full night sleep and I feel sleepy all the time. My mood is usually towards the gloomy or anxious side. I am more careful about my diet though. I would be really thankful for any specific recommendations Dr. Berg!
i have been dealing with thyroid issues over 20 years i had the radioactive iodine over 10 years using meds to try to manage now at 51 i have early menopause everything has exploded and i feel beyond tired fatigue is it now for me the itching dry skin its alot but keep trying
These are all the highly recommended foods to to eat daily and in abundance of to avoid a cancer recurrence, and now I can't eat them because they might make my hypothyroid worse. Don't eat meat, carbs, fruit because it contains fructose, and now cruciferous vegetables. What's left?
I know you asked Dr. Berg, but I will give my 2 cents. If you're going to eat fruit, stay away from high carb fruit. Fructose is harmful for humans, damaging to our livers, even the fructose from fruit (doesn't have to be high fructose corn syrup). Plus everything high carb (fruit, grains, etc) is high deuterium, which damages the mitochondria of our cells....BAD.
@@Peridot07 i have a big garden full of mini apples, strawberry, cranberry, rasberry, grapes, peaches, cherry, etc. i feel so bad they aren't as healthy as thought, i understand they are high in sugar, and that's what i want to avoid... imagine if all fruits had 0 sugar :DDD wouldn't that be perfect ?
The difference is that coconut is actually a fruit, while almonds are a nut. Coconut milk is probably the safer route to go if you suffer from autoimmune issues or have allergies to nuts. Just make sure it's really clean coconut milk not with all the additives like gums and seed oils.
Sadly, I love onions, cassava, sweet potato, broccoli and cauliflower. Even with intermittent fasting and a good amount of vitamin A , iodine and iron I should avoid those? I've had onions with every lunch and almost every dinner for years.

It sounds like Cruciferous veg if more than 5 0z is risky for Hyperthyroidism as well as hypothyroidism. Do u have a video on foods to avoid if you have HypErthyroidism? Ty
Dr. Berg you never talk about the parathyroid. I was diagnosed with this condition a while ago. I was doing keto just fine and one day I woke up so sick. I could feel my thyroid in my throat and intense tingling inside. I went to the doc to draw some labs and my numbers were so bad. I started incorporating carbs with intermittent fasting……I did put back half the weight I lost but I am feeling a lot better. I wouldn’t do keto if I have any kind of thyroid issues.
Professor Bart Kay has spoken about keto and that people should eat enough protein in ONE sitting to take you out of keto daily (by starting the process of gluconeogenesis), so you don't develop issues such as with thyroid.
Prof Kay is a nutritionist and promotes carnivore way of eating (very few or even zero plants). In most of his videos he portrays a character with an attitude, that is *not* really his personality. He also does consults, he is qualified to help people with their diets and health related issues.

I was hyperthyroid, medication was not able to control. I was told I needed to do the radiation coctail, first time 2 days before the drink, my thyroid just quit (so I was poisoning myself (still taking PTU at the time). I really believed that I was so scard to take the radiation that my mind made my body to quit the thyroid overtime. Time frame from 1989 - 2005-ish, My thyroid came roaring back, I ended up doing the cocktail. After that I was put on Levothyroxine Sodium, so I am hypothyroid.
Dr. Berg could you make a video on female hormones (estradiol, progesteron, testosterone, prolactin, DHEA, FSH, LH, cortisol) in her 40's and 50's? Specifically what ranges, numbers, avg. and ratios should we be looking for. Everywhere I look I read about dominance or low level but no specifics.
Hi Dr. Berg can you please make videos and research for hyperthyroidism? I had taken carbimazole for 1.5 yrs and stopped taking it for 5 months but my TSH went down again so I think I have to take medication again.
I’m hyperthyroidism with graves with a goiter! I take 5mg methimazole for 6 years now and my numbers finally are almost normal! I still have a goiter, now I know that onions are a culprit. I use onions on almost every dinner. I am leaning towards animal based diet (more beef!). It’s hard to be consistent but I’m going to try harder! Good luck to you! Oh! My endocrinologist wants to remove my thyroid!! I said absolutely not! (And he still pressures me!) 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I also got this terrible dis ease after getting numerous flu shots (before I researched). There is a GMO enzyme that they put in these flu shots that are KNOWN to give people autoimmune thyroid disease! BigP is terrible!! They absolutely don’t care about the general population! God bless! 🙏🏼

Dr erig. I have a doubt.. How to remove wax from berries just can wash in paip water and eat it straight away or need to soak in baking soda before eat
Foods to avoid for hypothyroidism:
1. Cassava
2. Lima beans
3. Sorgum
4. Sweet potato
5. Flax seed
6. Cruciferous vegetables
7. Millet
8. Soy products
9. Onions
10. Gluten
If you have cruciferous vegetables in very small amounts (less than five ounces), it shouldn’t be a problem.
Cooking, steaming, or fermenting cruciferous vegetables also reduces their goitrogenic effect. Having sea kelp as well may also help.
You would also want to avoid anything that depletes selenium, iodine, iron, and vitamin A.
Good sources of selenium and iodine:
• Seafood
• Sea kelp
• Sea salt
Good sources of iron:
• Red meat
• Animal products
Good sources of vitamin A:
• Egg yolks
• Butter
• Cod liver oil
• Beef liver
The suggestion to have more kelp is based on the simple fact that thyroid hormone uses iodine rather than any real-life evidence.
Iodine is in fact very heavily present in the standard modern diet. If anything we need less of it.
Thank you 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
Merci beaucoup !

@@ianstuart5660 Yes, that is a huge factor. It's also now very common to have seafood or fish relatively frequently even in inland areas.
So happy to hear about your progress. Can you please tell alternatives to wheat which you have use
Thanks for sharing. That too was helpful. Wish there were support groups to help one stay on track.
I was just diagnosed with Hashimotos so I’ve been avoiding gluten as well.
There are 3 tests to let you know if you have a thyroid problem. Most doctors only do the most useless of the bunch.
Dr. Berg specifically said red meat should be the source for iron.

Yes, do you know why? I'd lay money that it was the iodine in your new diet. I'd make sure that it's verified as wild caught and not farm raised.

Goitrogens are things that cause a goiter. A goiter is an enlarged thyroid gland. Goitrogenic foods interfere with certain enzymes and hormones and can lead to a goiter.

“New research also shows that these same foods raise the risk for severe COVID-19.”
This sentiment is echoed by lead review author Lee Crosby, RD. “The typical keto diet is a disease-promoting disaster,” says Crosby. “Loading up on red meat, processed meat, and saturated fat and restricting carbohydrate-rich vegetables, fruits, legumes, and whole grains is a recipe for bad health.”
Originally developed in the 1920s as a treatment for patients with severe drug-resistant epilepsy, the keto diet has been shown to be effective for reducing seizures in extreme cases.
(Unless you ask)
I'm unmedicated now after trying for 2 1/2 years to get the right dosage of Levothyroxine.
Allopathic doctors are not trained in nutrition so will never suggest any healing to do with diet unfortunately

Fascinating information I am traveling in Italy and finding their foods do not have the GMOs that we have in the US! I have had no trouble eating pasta or pizza and desserts❤
I have no problems with gluten in France or Italy etc in EU...
I have hypothyroid too, I am taking levothyroxin , is it still ok to take the thyroid package from Dr Berg .
Yes, iodine deficiency is a main factor in goiter.
Stay away from iodized salt. It's not a natural salt. Use Celtic salt or Himalayan salt because they have the highest amounts of minerals that your body needs. Sipplement your body with iodine such as Iodoral.
You are correct.

Gday mate, well there has been quite a few problems since having a full thyroidectomy some are also from the radiation therapy etc. Cheers

Thanks sir you’re the best ❤❤❤❤❤
Glad to help!
Sir if we have thyroid nodule shall we still avoid this thing❤️
Hi Dr Berg !
I was wondering if we can have a video about the healthiest fruits to consume and which to avoid
That's an easy one.. Avocados are the best! :D
He's done that before. He doesn't recommend very much fruit except for a small amount of berries occasionally!
Avoid all fruits except for berries
@@Peridot07 i have a big garden full of mini apples, strawberry, cranberry, rasberry, grapes, peaches, cherry, etc. i feel so bad they aren't as healthy as thought, i understand they are high in sugar, and that's what i want to avoid... imagine if all fruits had 0 sugar :DDD wouldn't that be perfect ?
Good morning Dr.Berg
I really appreciate for sharing this video amazing and informative thank you for all you do dear doctor 🌺🙏🇨🇦
My pleasure!
Dr, what the the difference between Coconut milk and almond milk and what is the best? can you make video about this please
Coconut milk is vastly superior. Almonds are high in oxalate, phytates and lectins, all possible problems for nutrients absorption!
What about goat and sheep cheese for hypotiroidism?❤
Anyone care to share an acceptable list of veggies for hypothyroid patients, I have a histamine intolerance too.
You are a very good UA-camr and Dr. ❤
Thank you for your support!
Ty Dr. Berg for being a health promoter. I have complex Thyroid Nodules 😮💨 but despite many blood tests & ultrasound scans no Dr has told me if I have HypErthyroidism. I am medically Anorexic! ( (the older I get the harder it is to gain weight), am Nervous/Anxious/Depressed 247! , Chronic Insomnia, chronic hair loss, Chronic Sensitive to cold. As some of the symptoms of Hyper & hypothyroidism ovrlap I'm Confused; Does it sound like I have HypErthyroidism?*** I've viewed videos of Dr's saying to avoid Cruciferous vegetables if youre Hyper w/Thyroid Nodules* so I have been on an Anti-cruciferous diet & Anti-gluten diet since 2018 but Idk if its Shrunk my Nodules any***.

@@lilydauber3147 most studies published on ANY type of diet are very poorly done. Usually questionnaires, which people can lie about their answers, and no controls. Professor Bart Kay knows how to analyze studies and has done so for many on his channel, pointing out all the mistakes, intentional "adjustments", etc. I wouldn't be surprised if the review you shared is no exception. I'd trust Prof Kay's analysis of the review, but not the review itself because too much science these days is corrupt.
Thank you❤
My pleasure!
but onions were suggested for selenium in your one of videos also cabbage and broccoli too
How much sea kelp?
God bless! 🙏🏼

If I drink a green powder that has a lot of these "goitrogens" in them, would that count as not good? Especially if I drink it right before going to bed
Asian diets are high in iodine. They are not proned to thyroid problems because of their diet. I don't like seaweed. So I added a kelp tablet to my daily supplements. My doctor has never had a issue with my blood work since.
