Falafel usually are dry by themselves so you should dip them in some hummus both the Falafel and hummus are made from chickpeas and some other ingredients and spices. Btw Falafel can taste different from country to country the one that we have in my home country Iraq/Baghdad tastes different from the one for example in Syria, Jordan, etc. Egypt have their own version of Falafel that is made from fava beans. We in Iraq use different spices in the falafel and we eat it in iraqi bread that is called ( Samon ) and we have a special sauce called ( Amba ) it's a yellow delicious sauce made from bunch of spices and we sometimes put either tomatoes or pickles in it and it tastes insanely good
I stayed in Seoul for 3 months back in 2018-2019 and I'm not gonna lie, I found it nearly impossible to maintain my vegan lifestyle over there. I ate a whole lot of veggie delite's from subway or vegetable-only gimbap. The main issue is what you pointed out near the end of your video, everything contains some kind of animal based ingredient, even if it seems vegetarian-friendly at first glance. Even stuff like Nong Shim Shin Ramyun isn't vegan in Korea, to my memory, unlike the export version of the product which is. I got saved by my Goshiwon's communal rice many times lol.
It got much better nowadays. Going complete vegan would still be hard, but recently there's some vegan places popping up, which is a welcome improvement. Just stay away from mom and pop restaurants. Even if you tell them you are a vegetarian, they would still likely give you a non-veg option(bone broth, beef stock etc). Because they think it's not a big deal. Btw, I'm not a vegan but my friend is, so I kinda know the struggle.
wow i always thought korean was one of the more vegan friendly cuisines. for example japchae and bibimbap can be easily made vegan in any restaurant no? compared to other cuisines like japanese, malaysian or basically every european cuisine, it seems much easier but maybe not...
@JJ-tc5tt interesting. You weren't replying to me but I still want to reply. Just knowing people in other countries try to cover things up (like non veg ingredients, etc.) ... what if someone is allergic??
@@pugas587 Because it wasn’t a thing until recently. They are not trying to cover that it’s non veg, they just don’t think it’s a problem. Same thing applied to allergy, because in here, we don’t get to encounter people with severe allergies or vegetarian that much.
I first tried falafel in 1980 when I was in California and had gone vegan. It was a box mix by Fantastic Foods. I think it's still in existence. I was living in Northern California in Rohnert Park having moved there from Boston. I loved the falafel. All you did was add water to the entire dry mix and stir and let it sit 15 minutes and form into oval balls and fry. We ate the falafel in a whole wheat pita bread pocket with sliced cucumber, tomato and vegan sour cream. I love hummus too. Ate that with Stacy's pita chips.
Ive been sharing meals with Ben since 2015. Theres just smth ab your content man, makes me eat faster and more than i normally do, which really helps with bulking 😂. Keep up the great content 👍
In New York some places have a schwafel platter which is chicken or whatever meat plus falafel, over rice. Halal guys falafel is a little on the dry side (at least in NY).
When u get any food that comes in containers from takeout places or etc, and u wanna put sauces on to mix it in, just put the sauces in per usual and then cover it with the lid and then shake it up, perfectly mixed in everytime!
Glad to see you trying vegetarian dishes, but those falafel balls for sure looked like hockey pucks. LOL. I like to eat falafel paired with the water-rich veggies like cucumber, lettuce or cabbage, and tomatoes. Balances out the dryness. Also, a drizzle of tzatziki (a yogurt and dill sauce) on top of the falafel and possibly some feta, if I'm in the mood for cheese. As for hummus, my preference is a less thick version mixed with tahini (ground up sesame) and olive oil...Looking forward to watching your other veggie videos.
Hello there😍 this is heba from Egypt 🇪🇬 how are you Ben you know The falafel 🧆 ,and hummus are both an Egyptian foods and I’m so happy 😀 that you like it because I am following you before along time, but this is my first time to write ✍️ a comment in your channel but actually I like your content ❤much love
i haven't had halal guys in awhile and this is a good reminder to get some. i love getting the beef gyros with a side of falafel. their white sauce is deadly!
The first few times I tried falafel, they were very dry and bland. I was never planning on trying them again, but a gyro place gave away 1pc for free in a combo and it was delicious. I sometimes get sides of them now, but I’m waiting for that time I try a new place and they have sucky ones again. :-(
As someone who grew up eating everything, with no allergies, going vegetarian was super easy and enjoyable. It helps that I absolutely hate the smell of uncooked meat/flesh. Overall it’s so easy to eat everything I used to because there are so many great alternatives and many vegetable based dishes taste great when seasoned well.
as a middle eastern i will tell you we don't eat falafel with rice. so i don't blame you if you didn't like it. usually we eat falafel alone or with bread or dipping it with hummus or tahini.
This will be a disappointment for most places i assume. I'm vegan and i tried some fast food like McDonalds and Burgerking and so on but obviously the meat versions are better most of the time. The only veggie Thing i prefer over the meat version is the McNuggets from McDonalds
You r doing great! Hang in there! Planning your meat meal yet? Enjoythese variations to your normal diet. I do envy your ability to enjoy a variety of seafood. Here, not so fortunate. Maybe Banquet. 👍🏿😀
Maybe if you're hitting a writers block, try filming yourself cook more foods and tackle cooking itself. Or maybe a gaming channel, or even vlogging. Something new for both you and the audiences to enjoy, that being said, I still love your original content regardless 🙏💖
Try getting something from a 100% vegetarian place. Normally 100% vegetarian places have more variety of ingredients and flavors. (tip from a vegetarian :) )
Because MOST vegans and vegetarians are only allowed to choose that diet because we have an abundance of food. Try being a veggie snob when food supplies are short
halal guys aren't really a good representation of middle easter cuisine, honestly i would say it's a good western version of it lmao. don't know if falafel would be great on rice but i know that the best form of falafel is a wrap sandwich like a burrito "which is actually what burritos were inspired by lmao" where you have your falafel broken up on top of humus and french fries pickeled turnips and then slathered with tahini sauce and ketchup and maybe hot sauce and there you have it, the perfect form of falafel
I eat meat every day because of my protein goals. But if I didn't really have any macro goals, I could honestly eat unhealthy vegetarian foods like this for the rest of my life with little problem.
If you hadn’t said I would not have thought it was Gordon Ramsey and I wonder if Gordon Ramsey was sitting in front of that what would of he said about it 😬😬🤬🤣🤣🤣

Falafel is originally from Israel. They have the best one..
@@nighthawk0077 Cap, Jordan got the best falafel.
@@Hamillie_ Jordan's in the conversation, I'll give you that. But so is Israel.
I'm a meat eater, and Ive had falafel wraps many times, they're quite good with the different sauces vegetables and hummus. Definitely flavourful.

it wasn't a weird video Ben. Loved every single minute of those falafel bites.
eating the houmous with the rice and falafel would help to moisten that as well
Falafel is best in a gyro or wrap with lettuce, tomato, and garlic or tzatziki sauce, maybe some feta.
And a side of fries!

Falafel’s are one of those foods that you NEED to eat soon after leaving the fryer.
You could eat "mirza ghasemi" or sth.
Persian food based on eggplant
dude good falafel is it!
Next week he should do a carnivore diet. Also love the videos!

Good video, food looked good too. No weirdness.
I've never seen falafel shaped like that. It's usually shaped like a small ball.
i never eat or see falafel with rice in my country it always serve as a sandwich or just falafel with hummus & chips
I wish people would make falafel the Egyptian way in pita bread with the salad, another level, also the type of beans used differ from each culture.
Omg im love ur videos falafel is good

No need to talk about anything, just enjoy your meal and that right there is enjoyable to watch.

love me some falafels, I prefer them with potatoes if am having them without meat
you could have broke up the big chunks into little chunks....... then it woulod have mixed well lol

In jordan falafel is eaten with humus as a wrap
Falafel!
The fact that my boy payed 25 bones for a plate of falafels is damn criminal. Where am from 10 bucks worth of falafel easily feeds 3 people.
you should do a video after the week is over eating all the cravings you've had all in one video
Bro just smash the falafel and mix it in....
As an Arab person, we do not eat falafel with rice. We make a delicious sandwich with it
Falafel is crushed chickpeas and spices deep fried
No meat, no problem. Can you imagine no carbs?!!! 😟

bro cravin the meat
One meal a day that's like how an alcoholic lives and it generally consists of poor man's food in other words Italian cuisine.

I'm from the middle east but never seen falafels being served with rice.
BBQ tofu and collard greens filled roti (i had it at a vegan Jamaican place before, loved it) you can make it into a burrito kind of thing as well

When I order this , I break up the pieces of falafel and mix the pieces in the rice.
Problem with this diet is its too much carbs
I literally had a Falafel plate from Halal Guys today. Love them!
can u do pork bone soup
The farts after that much hummus
try vegan meat items....... that would be fun.😉
