Actually that thing is very close to real one. There's many type of ration and freeze dried one is of them. The one I had in the military was actually that same bibimbap flavor but with grey colored package. By the way, you were right, one we had was not bad at all unlike what you got there.

I hate it, when trying a new food or a new self-creation, that took some time to make and you are reaaaaally hungry and than it does not taste. This mean decision between eating it to stop being hungry, but not getting satisfied or making something else even the stomach hurts already :D
