This man is THE best example of a guy who loves shooting and wants to help people learn without shilling some product because he's paid to. I'm fairly new to working with handguns (maybe 10 years or so of hobby shooting them), but can't say enough of how much Hickock45's reviews and guidance have influenced my purchase decisions and reinforced my safety practices along the way.

I prefer the smallness of the stock sights, but all in all, I guess I'd just as soon have the TRUGLO sights on all my carry Glocks. They give good visibility in both daylight and dark, unlike most night sights, which are horrible in daylight as compared with the stock Glock sights.

That guy at Gripforce Adapters is a class act. I emailed him a request for adapters with a flat backing that don't have the ridges, this was before he released them for sale, I complained that the ridges hurt my oversized girly hands and he sent me for free a brand new set of his flat back Gripforce adapters with the only request was that I tell people about them. He is awesome and I really with the best for Gripforce Products inc.

Besides reducing the bottom of the trigger guard at the base, I also removed material from the finger grooves on a Gen 3 Glock 19 to get a higher hand hold and wrap the fingers more tightly around the grip. Have also acquired a Lone Wolf "TimberWolf" that comes stock with most aftermarket alterations.

Just came across this! It's nice that you tell people that mods won't help if you don't know how to shoot.
Practice, practice, practice is Number One!
I used my handy-dandy Dremel to round off the front of the trigger guard on my G30SF so it resembles the 1911 shape. I never needed/used that finger hook, and IMHO, it's just ugly!
Another mod I personally find very useful was installing a trapezoid takedown latch from Brass Stacker. It's much easier to grab and manipulate than the factory Glock takedown latch, but again ........... that's just me.

Love my G27 Gen3 baby-G, and really enjoy your posts on the range. I was concerned you might be stroking out there when your hand flopped down - glad you're alright. I just switched out my trigger connector to 3.5 lb and the action is much smoother, but I guess its what you're comfortable with. Also can't shoot a lick without the mag pinky extensions - I lose up to 30% of my grip without them! But as you say, range time and good ammo accounts for 90% of it.

You talk about getting rid of that hump on the back-strap. When I heard that Glock was coming out with a multiple back-strap I thought that they would be more like the 1911 in that you could have a straight back strap or an arched one. No such luck. I'm totally with you on the part about the hump not being a problem at all on the baby glock. For some reason, the grip angle on the model 17 is off for me. The model 19 is not off at all. And surprisingly the 17L is also a natural pointer for me.

  • @brian-8674
    @brian-8674 6 років тому +1

I do think that ammo for practice is very important however when it comes to the "ammo or upgrades" arguement this is how i feel. If you have a ton to spend then go for everything you want. If your like me though you have to save a little for some of these upgrades. There are a number of reasons to replace the barrel but for most owners its not a big deal. Slide cuts are stupid if you ask me, the only thing they even remotely do for your gun is keep it cool but its not a big difference. If you do it your self or have money to spend go for it but otherwise theyre just a waste. I dont think people should really spending money on replacing the trigger unless theyre using it for competition. A new connector is cheap ($25 ish) and helps a good bit. Sights are a good upgrade, a lot of people wont carry a pistol without night sights. Sadly night sights cost quite a bit so maybe its not important for you. The gen 4 glocks come with back straps and beaver tail back straps, great change if your gun isnt comfortable. Talon or similar grip products are good because glocks have never had aggressive textures. Glocks dont have a big slide stop lever, if you use it as a release like most people do then maybe an extended slide stop lever. A change thats almost necessary for some people is an extended mag release. The under cut trigger guard is uncomfortable so if you want to keep your gun for ever and take good care of it then do this. However sanding it will remove the finish and make it potentially vulnerable to rust.

I have finally found the holster that worked best for me (and I am not trying to spam here, just passing along info) was the Nate Squared Professional. Its very comfortable. Just recently took some round files to a G27 gen 2.5. A trigger guard undercut makes it much more ergonomic and comfortable as does Pearce PG-2733 pinky extensions with the top lip shaved off to stop pinching. Also, a threaded G23 barrel gives 100 more fps to Underwood 200gr Hard Cast. All that, plus a 9/16-24 compensator gives faster follow-up shots against lions, and tigers, and bears, oh my! Woods carry ready!

i finally worked up the courage to dremel my glock 19 and i love it! the problem i was having is that it was hurting my middle finger when i gripped the gun because the joint of my finger was pressed up against the edge. i didn't shave off as much as you did but enough to lower the hump a little bit and round off the edges.

I had to do the same to notch out the ends of the "proprietary" rail on my full size HK USP to be able to slide on 1913 Picatinny accessories on their rail. Now I love that thing since I was able to slide a light on it.

Forgive me if someone already said this, but the grip-mounted Crimson Trace for Glocks does what you are asking for quite well when it comes to filling in that dip. I could have sworn you'd spoken of them before but if not, it is worth looking at. It would obviously serve more than one purpose and be much better suited for carry than out in the yard. The battery compartment does sit on both sides of the grip which I find slightly annoying, even with large hands, but it also fills some width.

I like stock. I find when you venture into the world of modification and performance you tend to sometimes (not always) give up some reliability. Only modifications I think are good on a glock are the addition of night-sights and I am also a fan of the EXO finish

I know this is an older vid, but I just got around to watching it. I like the idea behind the Grip Force Adapter. If I had known about them (if they were even around), I wouldn't have sold my gen 3 G17 10 years ago. I have a gen 4 G19 now, and I modded "mid" size backstraps to make my own. I pretty much cut it about in half and smoothed/polished up the edge and it does the same thing, but saves $25-30 I can now spend on ammo! I did this to the beaver tail and non-beaver tail medium backstraps and they're perfect (for me).

  • @jonboynumba1

I also finally got brave enough to dremel the finger grooves off so its flat on the front strap like a gen2 23 while being more trim and less humped on the back for it's gen4-ness...I also like the new spring setup...put 1200+ rounds on the original then upgraded to the new one glock sent me...no problems with either.

Thank you for all the hard work you do and the information you send out. I have watched a bunch of you videos and I have learned so much. I was never a Glock guy and I recently fell in love with them. You helped me make the transition so thanks for that! Many people people I talk to watch you as well. You are probably more popular than you think :)

I need a dremel. Wednesday i rented a private bay to shoot my new Glock 26 and got a nasty blister drawing from my holster and shooting. Just put on my second pair of Talon grips this week and love them. Took my LTC test last year w my G17 and it was a hot Texas day. 103 outside sweating bullets but my grip didn't suffer the least. Thank you sir for turning me on to them last year.

Boy are you right about the night sites in the daytime. Especially when using >50 year old eyes like mine. I think I'll look into the tru-glo sites. Thanks Hickok45

I have a Gen3 G19, and I love it. As far as attacking a Glock with a Dremel goes, you can't make hen much uglier than they are already, the only thing that you could possibly screw up if you tried would be the reliability. But you have to do what works for you and your guns

Glock 19 Gen 3 in OD Green w/ Trijicon HD night sights and talon grips...and at night with a tac-light attached for home defense. And of course, my Glock 23, 27 and shotgun as backup.

The trigger guard on my Tanfoglio Appeal(composite) has beveled relief cuts(factory)right where you would have your middle finger up against it. Also,I've noticed that several Glock owners do the same thing on their Glock's.
I haven't put any Talon Grips in my Glock 22 Gen 4 yet as I am shooting it in pure form but am planning on doing relief cuts as well as beveling the trigger guard to match my Appeal.
One concern I have about doing any Glock trigger guard mods is that perhaps even as the hardtop on an automobile adds to the total vehicle's rigidity, even so the Glock's trigger guard may do the same thing and even more important on the Gen 4's which have thinner frame thickness where the Gen 4 recoil spring is housed.
Trim too much off and perhaps that will weaken the frame to the point of flexing and maybe fatigue failure. But of course,I'm new to Glock's and polymer frames.
    Thanks for your great ideas.

Just put money down on a Glock 26 Gen4 in OD green, gonna pick it up a few weeks (short on cash but owner put it in the safe for me and in the peoples republik of New York its already registered to me on my permit so no one else can grab it up) wanted to do the trigger guard upcut even before I bought the gun because in my time shooting EVERY type of Glock that is one pet peeve! I've only ever held a glock with a trigger guard job but the purchase was 10x better. It just feels so limiting to have that plastic on that trigger guard in the way...good to see hows its done and that people like it because if I ever sell my G26 I want to keep the value reasonably well (probably keep it since the green ones factory are kind of gems).

Update: I went ahead and got a Glock 26 Gen4, its actually in BFG which I like better. I did the trigger job and I love it. There was some serious hesitation but one night I got really really bored and I grabbed my gun from my holster, unloaded it and went to the basement and went to town with the dremel tool, was nervous, especially when I saw how rough the trigger guard got but then I hit it with some super fine sandpaper and it feels so much better than a regular G26...I was at the gun store buying another holster the other day and they don't want you to pull your carry gun out to try stuff out so I had the guy grab one of the display G26's or G27's to try in the holster and I immediately noticed the difference...haven't gotten as far down the hump as Hickok's gun but I will soon, just want to shoot it a bit more. My fingers get very cold even in warm weather so I often wear gloves, something I detest when handling a firearm, thankfully Glock's have that oversized trigger guard but on a G26 I have to really get a good grip on the gun or use a pinky extension, in fact for winter I might get a used G17 or even G34 since It'll be more grip friendly and in cold weather you can carry a lot easier (I tend to keep my jacket on a lot so OWB holster is pretty easy with the right jacket). Always saw trigger guard jobs but this video kind of push me over the edge! Thanks!
EDIT: Just want to note its a bit weird having all this green powder from my BFG colored glock all over my basement floor...

You would think a higher purchase on the gun would inspire a higher selling point. Higher is optimal where handguns are concerned.

Oh and John's doing great in front of the camera too. Give him a at a boy for me. Thanks for all you do.

Hicock45, I had just purchased a Glock 19 Gen 4 a couple weeks ago, and they now come with two different sized beaver tails, and two different sized grip adapters. So as long as you purchase a Gen 4, they will come with 4 extra grips. (Two just to make it bigger, and two beaver tail ones that are diff sized)
Also, the Gen 4's come with 2 extra mag's versus 1 extra that the Gen 3's come with.

Great vid! I have never tried the Talon Grips but do have a Hogue Rubber Grip on my G23 Gen4. I love it!
I have been dealing with a little bit of a Glock Knuckle as well. Saw other videos on people taking the dremel to their firearms but I have always been a little weary of that. Now that I have seen you do it, I am ready to do it myself. Thanks for being the best go-to Glock guy around!!

I just got that grip force adapter for my new 26 had to pretty much chop away all of it up to the point where the pin goes in and ive gotta say i dig it, no slide bite and its a good index point when you pull it from a holster.
