12:38 That tactic of provoking him by saying "you're lying" was clever. Like you said, judging from his reaction, he confirmed that he had road materials by saying I have 3 bricks 😂 If he were to stay calm from that accusation he could've punished you as you said you didn't want road materials
At 8:00, what about keeping the brick, and YOP for settle + dev? Nothing really changes except you actually could city it on the next turn, or if you still want the D card, it's a 3:1 instead of a 4:1.
Late to this vid, but seeing the mention of how this tournament counts 11 points reminds me of the one and only time I got 12 points in a standard Catan game. I was sooo happy when I pulled it off.
@@evansaschow final turn build a road into someone else's longest road, then build a settlement on that road, cutting their longest road in two, taking longest road yourself.
I really don't like talking in online games. Especially for money. I find it leads to teaming which is strange for a solo winner. The thing that I feel needs to leave is insurance. It stalls and creates situations not intended by the developers. That being said anyone who's ever played know the best placements and strategies mean nothing if the dice don't roll against odds.
I really enjoy your content, but for the second time a newer video of you is so fast paced, that I can't follow along, which makes it unenjoyable to watch, as I just get hit with the result instead of being able to think along. Hope you can make them a bit slower paced again!
Ok its fine, allright… Did anyone notice that Dylighted is much more ok with bad outcomes than usual? I guess once you do have a solid setup you became resilient to bad luck
yellow aka white played a really good game, but the setup was just won from the start unless you're playing against champion players working together. I mean that setup is almost unloseable unless your opponents are SERIOUSLY working together and literally just holding back that build
I'm an arrogant asshole...you don't wanna trade with me...I get it. hahaha Dylan repeat. This is why Catan is broken...those dev cards are too OP. They should cost 2 sheep, not 1.
started sweating when white was sitting on 11 cards with a vp in hand and settlement spot. good game though. You may have had to quit Catan if you lost with a setup like that ;)
Hey bro I love your videos, howveer I do have a critique your edits are good but your soundtrack is over played and annoying, also it is too loud. You need more emphasis on your voice always. Finally try checking out some Lodi tracks you can keep in the background instead that aren’t so loud and annoying. Cheers
Catan is a good game, but the programming of this version of it is pretty meh. The RNG favors odd numbers, especially 5, which is statistically wrong to the odds of the dice. Bad programming. The computer opponents always gang up on the player, regardless of points, and especially on initial placement. They take VERY unfavorable positions in order to surround the player. They always place the robber on the player whenever possible, but still steal according to point leader. Annoyingly bad programming.
I mean that's the name of the game, sometimes you gotta lie to win, not always but in his position last video, he had to lie to win. he wasnt even planning on plowing and lying its just the dice rolled the right numbers to let dylighted do what he didn't think he would be able to do. That's what catan is all about when it comes to those type of deals
Idk, I see you getting likes on your comment so I feel like pasting my comments from that video. Dylighted was completely right in doing this. The people complaining are not realising the game theory aspect. This channel has always put itself across as a competitive one, and it only makes sense for a player to make the move that would best increase their chance of winning- whether it be lying, or telling the truth. It unlocks a new level of meta gaming which only makes sense for catan. Players watching this should have a look at similar games such as Poker or Diplomacy which are not that all that dissimilar. The latter in fact necessitates you breaking certain promises, which makes the game all the more interesting- the opponent must calculate the position and think “does it make sense for my opponent to tell the truth here? Do I make a deal?”. It is something that green should’ve considered. It’s a cornered rat type of situation. A lot of unhappy commenters are taking a Chess-like approach with its centuries of prestige and completely different game style which isn’t appropriate for Catan. Dylighted here only forces future opponents to strategise differently, he hasn’t gotten away with murder. Where in the past a completely clean record of deal making meant that he could always count on a deal being struck, it meant that he was unable to take advantage of these lying type situations. From now on, as he’s shown to be slightly sneaky, opponents will perhaps be less certain of making deals. You pay the price one way or the other. Either way, it’s just a different category of play style which is all the more interesting. Catan could do with some other characters who are complete scoundrels and force players to consider how they navigate the board.
Was getting so confused when you kept calling the white player yellow, until I realised that was his username
Same lol
Same 💀
most entertaining thing about this game was that not taking the 11 point win almost cost Dylan a spot in the finals this stream

Love the videos! I always look forward to the next one. It’s really cool seeing the way you break everything down, helps me to analyze my own games.

Yeah, thats what i thought too
i LOVE the visuals over your commentary it really helps!
I have no idea how to play this game and am very confused by the commentary, but I still enjoyed watching.

How do you even do that?

Absolutely Love coming home and seeing a new OWS Dylighted video
commenting for the algorithm, love the vids tho
Is this an app or a website?
Great video as always, jealous of your placements!
At 9:26 why did you not make a settlement and put it at the port? You bought dev cards.
I love Catan but omg, this design style is so confusing. Nothing pops out and the colors just blend together
Loved the video! Are you going to start streaming anytime soon?
This weekend again!
It would be great to see you stream more on Twitch so that we can watch unedited full sessions.
what app or where can you play like in this video?
colonist.io
I am livingggg for this channel
“In this spot”
Do you have any videos that show how to join and enter colonist tourneys?

❤
I was so confused, tfw White is named Yellow :(
Dev card setup is cracked
I don't fully get why the game doesn't let you keep playing until the end of your turn when you win the game

Did you even consider to settle up after you used the monopoly you had a Seattle if you trade away all your wheat. 6.37

I’ve won games in 25 min with this setup

Not a fan of the lying assed click bait video picture
U played that so bad tho

I liked ur channel but don’t respect that dirty play from one of ur last videos. Not gonna follow anymore
Which one? If you're that sensitive from something like that maybe you should not follow just for your sake of not getting offended LMAO

If you don't like a channel because they did ONE thing that you didn't like, then I'm surprised that there are any channels that you watch.
This ain’t the channel for you then. This is competitive Catan, not casual fun Catan.
