Bloqueo!

Roadblocks or bloqueos are a frequent form of social protest in South America. Irate locals obstruct the road and gather around the barrier. Traffic is backed up for miles. I encountered this one on the road to Bolivia from Cusco, Peru. Fortunately we only waited hours. Once I got stuck on the way to Cochabamba and I had to walk miles to get around it.
