actually i was wondering, how he records. amazed, do you think there’s someone else help him recorded or it’s himself. must be so hard if he do it alone, right(?)
This actually is nice to watch when you're stressed, especially in your studies and everyday routine Now I get why some like camping and venturing into the wild
Reminds me when I was a kid we lived in eastern Kentucky and I stayed in the woods as a kid the fun was coming from wild grape vines cliffs, falling alot vines breaks but what a childhood I wouldn't trade the memories for nothing
This is one of the most fantastic shelter videos I've seen. It must be so nice to get outdoors and just build with what you have available in the surroundings like that sometimes, and experience a shelter that you made yourself.
It's so cool to me how people just figured out all this stuff at some point. They saw what was around them and through observation, trial and error, and intuition, found creative ways to use them to make life better. It sort of comforts me on a lot of levels to think that, really, the tools and materials are there, and if you listen to yourself, learn from your surroundings, and make an effort, you can learn how to use them to do awesome things.
Without modern tools they did all that, it's pretty crazy, we have lost touch with our wild survival side and our ancestors' ways, most would hardly survive in a jungle
If it wasn't, wouldn't an animal be able to fall through the roof during the night? Lmao imagine sleeping soundly in your newly built forest house and suddenly a boar drops in.
This is like a dream from my youth when I read everything I could find to be a naturalist and man of the earth. Your skill is incredible. Thank you for this fine video. It will spark imaginations for years to come!
Can we just appreciate the fact that this guy went this long without talking? If I’m out in the woods by myself I’m gonna be basically narrating everything I’m doing out loud to myself, or at least talking about something to keep my mind busy. Somehow that’s the most mind blowing thing about this to me.
My cousins and I made a hut in the Australian bush when we were little. Aussie bush is a lot more unforgiving but if we had this man's skills we could have made anything.
@@c4onmylip I think he means more in the straight up sense. Central Australian bush the ground is incredibly tough and vegetation suitable for this kind of construction very sparse.
@Scythe 100%. Even just simple things like lighting fires is so much harder with native Australian timbers, especially in the rain like this video. I always laugh watching bushcraft videos from Europe and North America where they set "thick" batons of kindling, that would never work here in Australia.
@@c4onmylip different places have different environments and weather types. Not everywhere is the same and trust me Australian bush, not in all cases but most, can be a lot worse than typical American/European bush dude
You're likely very wrong. It's a lot of work and requures engineering mind to a solid degree even if it doesn't look like it. Definitely not a therapeutically spent afternoon...

Consider placing 4 rocks at each corner on chimney then set a large rock slab to prevent rain from dousing your fire. Consider having a drainage trench to route rain water out of dugout. My Uncle taught us as young lads, several decades ago, how to build a field expedient shelter. He was an Infantryman NCO in WWII. Had the wounds and trench foot damage to prove it. Taught us young lads Basic Infantry skills We all were Boy Scouts. And Hunters. Your dugout is the Best I have seen. Merry Christmas. Best
@Faynee93 Those were the exact 2 things I was gonna suggest. Especially the trench uphill. A fire can be remade, but when there is a downpour and your shelter is filled like an aquarium you're gonna be real sad.
This is so nostalgic for me, this is the kind of stuff we did when we were kids in the 80s; building forts using the stuff in the woods, digging out holes to make the space bigger. I grew up in Alaska where we have nothing to play w/ but rocks and sticks lol
Dude, I remember doing things like this when I was younger (Born 1997) kids now prefer to just stay inside on their computers and play games, I understand I am on one now with this message but I try to limit my usage
I remember too but tree houses for me above the earth up in the branches of the trees, safer, and you get much nicer views too, and the fresh breeze. If I was to build something like that, something like Lothlorien like we see in Lord of the Rings would be my dream
Good to see you here brother , I just started watching your channel yesterday and subscribed. I enjoy the videos you put out about the U.S millitary and also have a lot of respect for you because of the respect you have for American troops . !!
I mean sure, he's not hardcore surviving in the wild, but this guy is in the outdoors getting his hands dirty, problem solving and living a good life from what I can see. More power to him.
@@mattheww797 Because it’s fun. It’s fun to play around in the outdoors. It’s fun to make things. It’s fun to camp out. It’s fun to muck about in the mud & clay sometimes. It’s fun to play house. It’s fun to use & enjoy the abilities your body has before it becomes enfeebled by age. And digging in the dirt/mud has been scientifically shown to help lessen the symptoms of depression because there are microbes in the soil that trigger your brain to increase its serotonin levels, which can have a natural antidepressant effect on humans. It can also help to strengthen your immune system & protect you from being as likely to develop PTSD if you experience a traumatic event. They’re the same microbes that make the air smell so good right after it rains, an aroma known as petrichor, which can have the very same antidepressant effect on the human brain. Many of the characteristics & elements of the sights, sounds, & smells we experience while spending time outdoors have been found to have stress-relieving, calming, antidepressant, relaxing, mood-boosting, immune-building, & resiliency-supporting effects on humans.
Human ingenuity has always been our greatest asset throughout history.

Taught us young lads Basic Infantry skills
We all were Boy Scouts. And Hunters. Your dugout is the Best I have seen. Merry Christmas. Best

Hello?
Why?
Unnecessary environmental damage. Also damages and displaces the homes of other animals, insects, birds etc.
I mean sure, he's not hardcore surviving in the wild, but this guy is in the outdoors getting his hands dirty, problem solving and living a good life from what I can see. More power to him.
If it comes to having to live in the wild. He's proved he would be capable. Unlike most.
@@erbxvdfb Lucky guy lol
Why u encouaging this he’s living literally in the mud. He needs a real house to live in
@@mattheww797 bruh, what tf are u even talking Abt
@@mattheww797
Because it’s fun.
It’s fun to play around in the outdoors.
It’s fun to make things.
It’s fun to camp out.
It’s fun to muck about in the mud & clay sometimes.
It’s fun to play house.
It’s fun to explore your independence & self-sufficiency.
It’s fun to challenge yourself.
It’s fun to see if you could “make it out there” if you had to.
If you don’t think this kind of stuff is fun, smart to learn in case of an emergency, or that it can at least offer some positive benefits to those who enjoy doing it as a hobby, then you may be on a channel that’s not meant for you. 🤷🏻
