Finally!!!!! A top guitarist list that includes Johnny Winter! In fact, this is one of the few lists that I agree with almost all your picks. Johnny and Albert King were 2 of my big influences for guitar. Frustrating to watch Albert live. Couldn't take any licks away from him because he did play the guitar upside down but didn't re-string!!
Great list. It's funny that when I first picked up a guitar, I was already a huge Hendrix and SRV fan. My dad played SRV every Saturday morning, so I immediately had that influence. But when I first went to learn any Hendrix song, I was just overwhelmed at how brilliant he was at just finding notes that you would think couldn't possibly fit together and making it sound perfect. It takes learning his music to truly appreciate just how much of a genius he was on the guitar. Then when I went to learn SRV, I almost just gave up entirely 😂 but I always find a new lick or whatnot and I'm like, "I've got to learn this." This list was perfect. Awesome work.
My list: SRV #1 and no particular order for the next 9: Duane Allman, Robben Ford, Peter Green, Jeff Healey, Buddy Guy, Gary Moore, Jimi Hendrix, Albert King, Mike Bloomfield. Thanks for what you do to keep the blues alive and kicking Devon. I also love Eric Gales, Matt Scofield, Josh Smith, and Chris Buck when he plays blues.
It’s awesome to see young players carrying the torch. I don’t know your age but you look young. Bloomfield went to my high school about 20 years before I did. He hung out at the checkerboard and I other Chicago Blues clubs during school nights
Respectfully, I think Guy is very technical and can play more than most of the other’s. Like Page he plays sloppy by design because I think before a lot of the guys like Robben Ford, Eric Gales, Melvin Taylor, SRV, Bonamassa, Josh Smith there were not a lot of cats that really played with that much clean technique plus blazing walls of 32nd notes and so forth. Like Mclaughlin in Fusion and Page in blues rock his sloppiness was simply a part of his style. List in no particular order: Derrek Trucks Eric Gales Jimi Hendrix Muddy Waters Otis Rush BB King Albert King Buddy Guy SRV Robben Ford (purely as a guitar player and not singer): Honorable mention Robert Johnson Howlin Wolf Hubert Sumlin Johnny Guitar Watson Steve Cropper Gate mouth Brown Elmore James Clapton Bonamassa Josh Smith Kirk Fletcher Larry McCray Melvin Taylor T-Bone Walker Ronnie Brooks Led Belly Son House Lightnin Hopkins Mike Bloomfield Albert Collins Robert Cray Billy Gibbons Jimmy Page Mick Taylor Gary Moore Freddie King Peter Green Johnny Winter Keb Moe Robin Trower Neal Schon Warren Haynes Freddie King Son Seals John Lee Hooker Hound dog Taylor Bill Broonzy Johnny Copeland Luther Allison Jimmy Vaughn There are too many awesome players but they are had something
Impressive listing! Keep that energy. Don't let them you down. Yep - there are so many talents & legends. As this far (of my age) I'm diggin' the message of Albert Collins: "I'm a tired (old) man, and ain't got time to play". That what is real, remains. Agree?
Great list dude! When ya' break the top 5 it's really hard to say. I think it just gets down to style preference and performance moxie. They all got it. Love the List! Thanks!
Having chosen SRV as #1 was, in my opinion, an honest, easy, uncontestable choice. (I've just subscribed to your channel, based almost solely on your keen ability to not only hear the truth, but for having the balls to proclaim/announce it.)
Little Jimmy king was a friend but his family still stays. Eruc Gailes helps the blues, grief. I watch Lucille walk down Beale and appreciate the family. Lovem I must say.
10 years ago if you went to a jam night anyone under 30 were all SRV clones (I was one of them).... That's all change now with everyone going for a little more sophistication thanks to all the amazing young "under 50" players kicking ass on UA-cam. UA-cam is the wild west for all guitar slingers these days. Love it!
thanks Devon, this is a good list even if it's a bit "old school". One guy you left out though is Eric Gales. I would also give an honorable mention to Rory Gallagher
I can agree with any top ten blues guitarist list as long as SRV is at the top. Lol. Seriously this was a great list. Only thing I might have changed was I would’ve put Jimi second and bb third. Like you said SRV and Jimi were on another planet. Another great you need to check out is Rory Gallagher
GREATTTT ORDER! ONLY I THINK FREDDIE KING SHOULDVE BEEN TOP 5! PROBABLY HAD THE BEST VOCALS OUT IF THEM ALL TOO! IN ANY CASE IM GONNA BE KEEPIN AN EYE ON YOU, DIGGIN THR CONTENT!
It depends on the style, all were great in their own way. But just my opinion.. my style...BB King.. he wasn't fast or aggressive, but every note he played was like fine wine.
Trower is my #1 pick. Jeff Beck #2, SRV #3. Then my list gets muddled, Hendrix, A.King, BB King, John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy... Clapton has no standing on my list.
Although you have a new channel... You have now bolted yourself to my favorite! Damn I love the blues & blues/rock guitarists! I’m right there with your list. SRV separated himself because not only was he damn near technically perfect... he put more soul and passion into everything he did more than anyone there ever was. He also used 13 gauge strings! Try bending that shit! 😂 I had an argument with a buddy one time about who was better out of SRV and EVH. I won the argument when I said... Let’s compare the two this way... Which one was more capable of imitating the other. SRV could play EVH easily. EVH couldn’t play SRV! He finally gave in. Lol By the way... I think Randy Rhodes was a better metal guitarist than EVH anyway. 😂
have you heard of jeff healey he was consider by many in vidoe as one the beat there every was and he play with some of them he did of cancer at 41 as he was becoming well known . bb king said he was one of the best. high praise and jeff was blind.
I don’t have a top ten because I like all blues guitarist at the moment I’m listening to Stone the crows Maggie Bell singing is brilliant with Les Harvey who died aged 27 after being electrocuted on stage Peter green is another and jo Ann Kelly who turned down offers to join Canned heat and Johnny winter because she didn’t want to leave the uk
@@Devon_Rismay he was brilliant the live version of all over again live at the warehouse as to one of the greatest blues solos Love the channel only found it today
SRV will always be my favorite. But Eric Claptopn is the only person inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame 3x. First with the Yard birds, then Cream and the as an individual.
Thank you for this - a really nice selection. I agree with everything except your number 1 pick. I've always found him just so repetitive - wearing out his bag of stock riffs over and over - mind numbing. Give me Gary Moore instead. Always interesting, original, and soulful.
Jimi Hendrix is in a class all alone. One should NEVER include him on some list. All of these others you can have and screw with except for Hendrix. He is for the ages.
I agree with your analysis however top 10 greatest guitarists of all time; #1 Stevie Ray Vaughan #2 Jimmie Hendrix #3 Jimmy Paige #4 Jeff Beck #5 Eric Clapton #6 Eddie Van Halen #7 BB King #8 Buddy Guy #9 Duayne Allman #10 Robert Cray
Stevie is the reason that I got into blues, it then opened the door to so many more.
You make me happy! Your knowledge of music/guitar is the best I've seen on UTube. SRV is my all time favorite.
Wow, thanks!

Perfect list for this girl❤️❤️❤️ and you’re pretty darn good as well!
Thank u!!
Loved your list. I was surprised that Robert Johnson wasn't in there somewhere. I figured because there's really no footage of him out there.
I will probably make an updated one depending on how well this video does
Robert Johnson should have replaced SRV on that list which he should not have been on there period
@@ivansavoie3190 SRV absolutely should be on the list.
#1 My brother Stevie Ray Vaughan. ❤❤❤❤

There’s a video of bb Albert and Stevie going at it, At the end of the day My too choice is Albert king, they all took from him! Except bb

thanks Devon, this is a good list even if it's a bit "old school". One guy you left out though is Eric Gales. I would also give an honorable mention to Rory Gallagher
I had forgot about rory
Good to see Johnny Winter on list mostly always overlooked
🤘🏾
Such a quick sub for me. You can play! Also SRV is just ridiculous lol
Thanks bro, definitely appreciate that
Would like to see something about Buddy Guy because he has influenced a lot of young blues guitarists.
True
The only guy I see missing here is Rory Gallagher he definitely needs to be included
Gary moore deserves some respect too
Great list.I will be 69 in Oct,been playing guitar about 55 years and have stolen licks from everyone of these players.
The best blues guitar player was not mentione, he played his own theme song "The Messiah"
SRV was the Eminem of the Blues. Both are libras ♎️ too.
Rory Gallagher

Elmore James, Muddy Waters, Son House, Robert Johnson, Blind Lemon Jefferson
Awesome bro, maybe I'll make a video on the ladies
Look forward to ladies video, incredible talent!
I suppose that Lightnin Hopkins is not a blues guitarist. A lot of the top 10 learned from him and from others you dont find on the list. Very sad.
SRV ~ 🎸🐐
1A) SRV
1B) Jimi
1C) Duane Allman
4) Buddy Guy
5) BB King
6) Albert King
7) Clapton
8) Albert Collins
9) Freddie King
10) Elmore James
Awesome list bro
John Lee Hooker Albert Collins. Jeff Healy Coco Montoya
Johnny Lang. Albert King. Billy Gibbons. Ronnie Earl RL Burnside. Robert Johnson
Can't be a Top 10 without Rory Gallagher. (Nice to see Johnny Winter getting a shout out though.)
Definitely would have him at 11, I'll make a revised list soon
It depends on the style, all were great in their own way. But just my opinion.. my style...BB King.. he wasn't fast or aggressive, but every note he played was like fine wine.
Fully agreed
Srv was blues rock...he was never like bb muddy albert
Where would Robin Trower be on your list?
I would definitely have him in a top 20 revised list.

As far as BLUES guitarists Albert king is the numero uno! SRV is his student he basically play’s Albert licks
Gary Moore should be on that list.
If he was strictly blues, I definitely would have in the list for sure
Robert Cray and David Gilmour are missing as well
Sorry. Watch Rory Gallagher, Alvin Lee and Peter Green
I'd have em in a top 15 for sure
Clapton doesn't have an original thought in his head. He co-opted every link he ever played.
Then you've never seen him play live. He's well respected by his peers. He's a humble man and always gives each musician that he plays with respect.
Srv also
Move Winter to 10. Put Duane at 8. Put Muddy Waters at 5.
