Having said that, when I heard "Roaree's'" name, I knew that whoever compiled this list was a serious aficionado of blues guitarists. Someone that is always left off these lists is Jorma Kaukonen of Hot Tuna/Jefferson Airplane fame. He is a great bluesman, he covers Rev. Gary Davis, Blind Arthur Blake, Robert Johnson. He does the blues right, check out Hot Tuna's first acoustic album... It's worth a listen
Jorma Kaukonen is amazing and definitely underrated. The list can only include 30, but his work is worth checking out, especially with Hot Tuna. Thanks for mentioning him!

Without classification, everyone here is giant and plays important roles in the blues, Jorma Kaukonen could easily be on this list! Thanks again for his enriching comment!
Mike Bloomfield, Duane Allman, and Peter Green are indeed significant figures and deserved to be on the list. Including all these great guitarists is challenging due to space limitations, but we acknowledge their importance in blues. Thanks for commenting!

Lonnie Johnson was a pioneer and influenced many musicians with his unique style. This list aimed to name 30 great guitarists in blues history, so it's inevitable that some great ones, like Lonnie Johnson, were left out. Thanks for mentioning him!
Alvin Lee... Robin Trower... Walter Trout... Gary Moore... Frank Marino... Jeff Healey... Kenny Wayne Shepherd... Jonny Lang... Philip Sayce... Billy Gibbons AND SO ON...????
Hi, first of all I want to say that I really enjoyed of this video, any die-hard blues fan knows that it is very difficult to narrow down great artists like them to 30 places. That being said, i will mention very influential artists like Charley patton, big joe Williams, Robert Nighthawk, Lightnin' Slim, hop wilson, Steve Cropper And of course many others have already mentioned before me here in the comments.
Thank you so much for the comment and support! I completely agree, it's very difficult to narrow down so many incredible artists to just 30. Charley Patton, Big Joe Williams, Robert Nighthawk, and the others you mentioned are all legends that deserve recognition. I'll consider these suggestions for future lists.
I will also second a vote for Mike Bloomfield. While Joe Bonamassa is good, his mentor Danny Gatton was far better, and probably more influential. Hendrix wasn't known for his blues work, but he was phenominal.
Thanks for the suggestion! Mike Bloomfield definitely holds an important place in blues history. Danny Gatton also deserves recognition. As for Hendrix, even though he's not primarily known for blues, his influences on the genre are undeniable. Thanks for watching!
Jimmy Thackery, Roy Buchanan, Gary Moore, Peter Green, Robert Cray, Tinsley Ellis, Popa Chubby, Walter Trout, Kenny Neal, Tom Principato, Ronnie Earl, ...
Gary Moore, Peter Green, Gary Moore, Leadbelly, Gary Moore, Roy Buchanan, Gary Moore, Matt Guitar Murphy, Gary Moore, Mike Bloomfield, Gary Moore, Phil Emmanuel, Gary Moore.
You certainly won’t please everyone with your blues genera influential’s but you have certainly covered the main ones. A couple of others are Duke Robillard, Little Charlie Baty, Jimmie Vaughan,…. but there are many unsung heroes of the blues. Great effort!
Thanks! It's true, it's hard to please everyone, but it's great to see so many amazing suggestions. There are definitely many unsung heroes of the blues out there. Appreciate the support!
There's No One Greatest. People should just say the Top 10 Most Influential Blues Players, because Everyone of them brings something different to the Table. They Are and Were Great.
I totally agree! Each guitarist brings something unique to the blues. The most important thing is to acknowledge the influence and contribution of each one.
Capisco la tua frustrazione, Mike Bloomfield è davvero incredibile e uno dei migliori. Scegliere solo 30 chitarristi è stato un compito difficile e purtroppo alcuni grandi nomi sono stati esclusi.
Lacks Lonnie Johnson. Probably most important (or one of most important) Blues and Jazz guitarist. One of very first musicians using guitar as a solo instrument.
You’re right, Lonnie Johnson was a pioneer in both blues and jazz and indeed one of the first musicians to use the guitar as a solo instrument. He definitely deserves recognition. Thanks for pointing that out!
Michael Bloomfield and Duane Allman are legends! I'd love to include them, but with only 30 spots, some great names had to be left out. Thanks for the comment!
@BackingTrackCenter BTW SRV dose not belong on this list .he was a" good" blues player who said absolutely nothing new but made a career off of Albert Kings "pet " licks and phrasing (from Jimi's as well) Guys like Bloomfield ect were all influenced by Albert but didn't play those licks over and to death like SRV did.
SRV is definitely a polarizing figure. While some feel he didn't bring anything new, others see him as a revitalizing force for the blues in the '80s. It's all about perspective. We respect your opinion. Thank you for commenting!
Your list is full of blues legends! Each of these names left an important mark on music, especially blues. It’s hard to make a complete list, but these artists deserve all the recognition for the impact they had on the genre. Thanks for sharing these incredible names!
no Blind Lemon Jefferson, Skip James, Blind Willie Johnson, Reverand Gary Davis, Mance :Lipscomb?? (Some might say Willie and Gary were religious singers, not a blues singers. But both are helluva guitarists!!)
These are incredible names that definitely deserve recognition! Blind Lemon Jefferson, Skip James, Blind Willie Johnson, Reverend Gary Davis, and Mance Lipscomb were phenomenal guitarists who influenced many musicians. Thanks for mentioning these great artists!
Thanks for the comment! Alvin Lee and Phil Keaggy are indeed exceptional guitarists. This list aimed to highlight 30 great guitarists in blues history, so it's inevitable that some great ones were left out. Everyone has their preferences, and it's always interesting to see different perspectives on which guitarists have had the most impact on blues.
Great suggestions! It's really hard to pick just 30 when there are so many great blues guitarists out there. Maybe we can do a part 2 in the future to include these amazing names. Thank you for your comment and suggestions!
Oh, for sure! Mike Bloomfield and Robert Cray are both masters that deserve all the respect. And Hendrix, well? He’s like from another planet, he transcends any category.
Love this list, although, like always, a lot great plyers are missing imo! But have a look at Marcus King - awesome dude. However, I miss the whole bunch of hill country blues greats, like RL Burnside, Junior Kimbrough etc.

I'm glad you enjoyed the video! It's always cool to discover new favorites. Hooker 'n Heat definitely brings that classic blues vibe. 😎
thanks for putting this out here for us... as long as Rory is on it I`m good with the rest
Roy Buchanan
Roy Buchanan is undoubtedly one of the great blues and rock guitarists, known for his exceptional technique and innovative style. The list has space limitations and it is difficult to include all the big names, but he certainly deserves recognition for his impact on music. Thanks for his comment!
HEY JOE Austin city limits. Maybe GOAT
Yes i unterstand i like the style of howling Wolf because i would like to sing and play harmonica with his blues songs with ours band and for example with the wolf's Song Evil ( i mixed Also the version of bonamassa Blues band but with the voice of Wolf😊
Peter Green, who else? After him Snowy White and Gary Moore
Peter Green, Snowy White, and Gary Moore are all fantastic! The list had to be limited to 30 guitarists, but it's great to see so many great names being remembered. Thanks for commenting!
Just GREAT - Super enjoyed !!!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks a lot for watching! 😀🤗
Mike Bloomfield, Link Wray, Roy Buchanan, HENDRIX!!!!
You mentioned some great names! Hendrix, Bloomfield, and Buchanan are true icons of blues and rock. The list is limited, so it's tough to include all the notable talents. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
*The best of the best!*
For sure, this list brings together some of the best of the best! Each one has a unique contribution to blues. Who's your favorite?
@@BackingTrackCenter Stevie Ray Vaughan, B. B. King, Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Robert Cray. The list could go on and on, because there are so many wonderful ones.
Thanks for commenting. Welcome to our channel!
Great video, but I would have definitely included Gary Moore!
Awesome video, the first few gentlemen were a genius back in the day
Glad you liked the video! Those early guys were truly geniuses and shaped everything that came after in blues. Thanks for the comment!
Liked your video. My favorite is Stevie Ray
gary moore, mike bloomfield,3 kings, robert cray and legendary old school players like robert johnson
Blues IS verry good music❤❤❤
Absolutely! Blues is an amazing and deeply emotional music genre. Who’s your favorite blues artist? Thanks for the comment!
@@BackingTrackCenter m'y artiste favorite is BB king and Robert Johnson, and récent blues man, Big daddy Wilson,
Lonnie Johnson
Lonnie Johnson was a pioneer and influenced many musicians with his unique style. This list aimed to name 30 great guitarists in blues history, so it's inevitable that some great ones, like Lonnie Johnson, were left out. Thanks for mentioning him!
Alvin Lee... Robin Trower... Walter Trout... Gary Moore... Frank Marino... Jeff Healey... Kenny Wayne Shepherd... Jonny Lang... Philip Sayce... Billy Gibbons AND SO ON...????
The list is short, but they definitely deserved a spot, no doubt about it. Thanks for commenting!
Billy Gibbons
Hi,
first of all I want to say that I really enjoyed of this video, any die-hard blues fan knows that it is very difficult to narrow down great artists like them to 30 places.
Which guitarists would you exclude from this list to make room for those you mentioned? Thanks for commenting!
Outstanding Video..👍💙
Lacks Lonnie Johnson. Probably most important (or one of most important) Blues and Jazz guitarist. One of very first musicians using guitar as a solo instrument.
You’re right, Lonnie Johnson was a pioneer in both blues and jazz and indeed one of the first musicians to use the guitar as a solo instrument. He definitely deserves recognition. Thanks for pointing that out!
where's Michael Bloomfield, and Duane Allman??????????
Michael Bloomfield and Duane Allman are legends! I'd love to include them, but with only 30 spots, some great names had to be left out. Thanks for the comment!
@BackingTrackCenter BTW SRV dose not belong on this list .he was a" good" blues player who said absolutely nothing new but made a career off of Albert Kings "pet " licks and phrasing (from Jimi's as well)
Guys like Bloomfield ect were all influenced by Albert but didn't play those licks over and to death like SRV did.
SRV is definitely a polarizing figure. While some feel he didn't bring anything new, others see him as a revitalizing force for the blues in the '80s. It's all about perspective. We respect your opinion. Thank you for commenting!
Reverend Gary Davis
Blind Blake, Big Bill Broonzy, Lonnie Johnson, Charley Patton, Pat Hare, Matt Murphy, John Hammond, Duke Robillard...and more...
Your list is full of blues legends! Each of these names left an important mark on music, especially blues. It’s hard to make a complete list, but these artists deserve all the recognition for the impact they had on the genre. Thanks for sharing these incredible names!
RL Burnside
Jimi Hendrix, Peter Green, Gary Moore, Alvin Lee, Son Seals, Jeff Healy, Colin James
Jeff Healey
I would like to add John Mayall, Peter Green and Melvin Taylor.
Thanks for the suggestion! John Mayall, Peter Green, and Melvin Taylor are truly great additions and have a significant impact on blues.
John Mayall as a blues guitar player? Really?
Hmm, you need to read your album covers more carefully
So glad to see Kingfish in your video! Very well made video 👍 I really enjoyed it. Thanks
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! 😄 Kingfish is indeed an amazing addition. Thanks for the compliment and the support! 👍
no Blind Lemon Jefferson, Skip James, Blind Willie Johnson, Reverand Gary Davis, Mance :Lipscomb?? (Some might say Willie and Gary were religious singers, not a blues singers. But both are helluva guitarists!!)
These are incredible names that definitely deserve recognition! Blind Lemon Jefferson, Skip James, Blind Willie Johnson, Reverend Gary Davis, and Mance Lipscomb were phenomenal guitarists who influenced many musicians. Thanks for mentioning these great artists!
@@RawBluesTV Yup.
Blind Willie Mc tell
Buddy Guy! I've been to his bar in Chicago. I was in Chicago only one night and I went there.
Buddy Guy is a legend! It must’ve been an awesome experience for sure! What did you think of the place and the vibe? Thanks for sharing!
The list is great. In my opinion the GOAT is SRV.
Great video! Thanks for that. But I'm missing Duane Allman, Dickie Betts, Derek Trucks and Gary More. Plus maybe Carlos Santana and Hendrix.
Thanks a lot! I agree-those guys are incredible and deserve a spot among the blues greats. Maybe in the next list? 🎸
Duane Allman.
Could easily add Bloomfield, Ronnie Earl, Peter Green and Gary Moore to name a few.
Which 4 guitarists would you remove from the list to make room for the 4 you mentioned?
Pretty good list but I would take Alvin Lee over Eric Clapton and Phil Keaggy should be on there somewhere.
Peter Greene
Kingfish Rules!! ❤❤❤

In addition to some of those mentioned by other commenters, I would include Rory Block, Joe Louis Walker, Robert Cray, and Kim Simmonds.
Great suggestions! It's really hard to pick just 30 when there are so many great blues guitarists out there. Maybe we can do a part 2 in the future to include these amazing names. Thank you for your comment and suggestions!
For me, it’s Freddie King, The Texas Cannonball, baby!
Rory Gallagher! The best ever!!!
Great picks but I'd include Mike Bloomfield and Robert Cray. Of course Hendrix was such a genius he almost defied categorization.
Oh, for sure! Mike Bloomfield and Robert Cray are both masters that deserve all the respect. And Hendrix, well? He’s like from another planet, he transcends any category.
Popa Chubby. Yeh!
Love this list, although, like always, a lot great plyers are missing imo! But have a look at Marcus King - awesome dude. However, I miss the whole bunch of hill country blues greats, like RL Burnside, Junior Kimbrough etc.
Glad you loved the list! It’s true, there are always great names left out, right? Marcus King is definitely an awesome dude! And I agree, the hill country blues greats like RL Burnside and Junior Kimbrough are definitely missed. Thanks for commenting!
