You know you’re evil when Dr Doom telling you to chill.
Right, but I think the direct quote was "do not take Doom's collusion as indifference to flagrant warcrimes" which I think means he is ok with it (collusion) but the country Latveria is formally "not in support of my actions as an individual" or be associated with Doom's personal affairs of villainy or whatever. Basically a useless but symbolic disclaimer as if it would cease UN/NATO from going in to penalize the nation-state. He is evil, not stupid as leader of his country.

Nightcrawler is a MUST HAVE on any MCU X-Men team
Lots of practical costume effect work (so is Mystique) but it's always worth it if they manage to nail the comics accuracy.

That POV shot of traveling through Nightcrawler’s teleportation was one of the craziest shots I’ve ever seen. The animation team is killing it🔥
Nightcrawler teleporting like that is a nod to the movie X-Men: Apocalypse as the same sort of visual is done when teleporting the Professor from pyramid to jet and we have seen the dimension that he goes through in X-Men: Evolution (not canon of course).
It was amazing to see Nightcrawler not only get his dual swords back when fighting but he UPGRADED to triple swords with his tail!

I thought Wolverine really shined in that fight. I was thinking, "finally!"
Yeah, as much as I like the character and Hugh's portrayal of him, Wolverine has hogged the X-Men limelight, but I was starting to wonder whether they'd overcorrected a little and sidelined him too much. So I was glad to see him put to good use in this episode.

Xmen evolution explores Kurt’s teleportation in one of its episodes. Another great X-men animated series, in my opinion.
It's not bad...but it definitely pales in comparison to Xmen:TAS or X97 as far tone and depth, dialog but I know it's popular among its fan base.
And as far as that scene with Kurt in Evolution. It showed the audience, what Kurt is seeing, but it does not show first person perspective like how x97 did it.

@@jodeci9898 Yea, I think Evolution was made for younger audiences, while this one is more for people who grew up watching the original series.
Grace mentioned not seeing the dimension Kurt jumps though depicted, so I thought I’d share. As far as what they do in this show, I think the most similar reference I’ve seen was in X-men: Apocalypse (just done much less successfully).
X-men Evolution is awesome. Period
Nightcrawlers teleportation scene reminded me of how they showed “Apparation” in the Harry Potter movies (where you literally are stretched and pulled through space/time to teleport)

Magneto at the end gave me chills! The action this episode was top notch.
I support Magneto. Although, this wreaks of Palestine vs Israel, I choose to see it as minorities vs white supremacy
X-Men Evolution had a whole episode exploring how Kurt teleports to another dimension

Thanos was right was a reference to actual people IRL agreeing with his ideology when infinity war came out and tweeting it and wearing t-shirts that said Thanos was right. It was not just a reference to Magento was right.

X men 97. Better than it ever was. Also the cameos were out of this world. We got Dr. DOOM. Looking forward to seeing the next two episodes .
Magneto was right & You don’t mess with The Summers were my favorite scenes in this episode!
The creative team are handling the X-men in such a way that I’m hopeful that we’ll get a great MCU adaptation.
5:14 It was done once in live-action in X-Men: Apocalypse. When Kurt teleports himself and Xavier to their jet. It was quick, but it was visually stunning as we see them floating in the other dimension

LOVED this episode but i would be lying if i said i didn’t notice Storms absence!! it would’ve been perfect if she had appeared in more than just one single frame.

Wouldn't the Prime Sentinels have activated if Cooper was Mystique? Also, Wolverine would have known by smelling her. So this must be the REAL Val.

my theory is that Bastion knows Val is Mystique but he wants to play her game for a while so he has somehow programmed the Prime sentinels to not detect her. As for Wolverine.... maybe he knows too? Have Val and Wolverine been in the same room yet?
At this point I'm happy with Val being a human ally, she's a great character on her own. But NO way would Val be working with Sinister (him trusting Val enough to reveal to her that he's also using Bastion) so I think she may turn out to be Mystique who will transform & fùck shït up/ save the day in a dramatic scene.
Yeah it never really made sense for Cooper to be Mystique but people just wanted to believe it

I always come to UA-cam after watching X-men and Grace by far does the best breakdowns of each episode. Whether it’s analyzing story beats or easter eggs, her commentary is so refreshing as it’s coming from the prospective of not only a cinematic fan but also a true X-men aficionado

The only place where we've traveled through Nightcrawlers teleportation is XMEN EVOLUTION. Which actually, Wolverine ALSO travels with Kurt. Forge, I believe, built a device to slow Kurt down and doing so they see hostiles in the dimension, and Wolverine travels with him for protection.

Well making Mutants basically slaves to humans is actually why Bastion might be the best X-Men villain to date. Even though he wasn’t as prominent action wise, his motivations and disturbing views on mutants were very effective. I do kinda wish they made Sinister the main antagonist of the season because both Sinister and Bastion are great villains and Bastion could’ve been a villain in the 2nd season
I’m sure the professional writers know what they are doing.

I don't get why Nathaniel Essex (Mr Sinister) would cooperate with Bastion in the first place, or the other way around. Mr Sinister is basically also a mutant himself.... and he's supposed to be like obedient towards En Sabah Nur (Apocalypse) who is like the ultimate mutant? So it really makes no sense

Definitely shot up to my number one favourite episode so far, with episode 5 at number two.
I agree that episode 8 might be the best so far. The other two that make me doubt though are ep 3 and ep 6. Also loved those two

It was awesome when Nightcrawler transported the Wolverine and the Sentinel. 😊 the show continues to impress. The movies have the hard job of following up this show.
Feige would be wise to take the templates from this show for his MCU X-men.
Fans appreciate when productions always respect the source material, and this show is doing a phenomenal job of it. Comics accuracy is crucial.

I can't help but get super hyped anytime I get to see Nightcrawler in action. His powers are so dope and cinematic, and his backstory is just fascinating. It's criminal how underutilized he has been until now.
Well not having Nightcrawler or Collossus in the original series, and instead having Jubilee and Gambit was always a really weird divergence from the comics. Same thing with not having Psylocke or Kitty Pryde. Jubilee and Gambit are very minor characters compared to those.
I loved the whole episode, but my favorites were seeing the inside of Kurt's teleportation with Logan hanging on for dear life and the Summers family in action.
When Nightcrawler (my favorite X-Man) showed up with the three swords and that music started, I smiled really big. My mind immediately went to the X2 opening and I was thinking, "We're gonna get another Nightcrawler sequence!!" 😄
I’m worried Magneto is going to be against the X-men again now that he’s suffered the Genosha tragedy after trying to be peaceful.

I thought the episode did an amazing job of humanizing Bastion. How much choice did or does he really have? He never had a chance? There was always Nimrod. Bastion makes more sense to me now after watching this episode. Fight scenes were incredible as were the quiet character moments that this show so wonderfully balanced. I’m so looking forward to next week!
I also think he has a point, if regular humans are losing their jobs and so on because of mutants being better, why wouldn't they become resentful over it? Like it shows mutants really CAN even accidentally cause human suffering

The human Sentinels does remind me of Reign of the Superman where civilians volunteered to get superpowers.

I don’t think Val has ever been received so far on the show. I believe it’s really her because wouldn’t the sentinels especially Bastian be able to detect her? And then she wasn’t killed. She was directing those people and they were getting zap she wasn’t? The mutants are detectableby sentinels when they scan them so I believe Val has been herself.

Keep in mind what type of people the writers are. She is totally Mystique, bit we won't learn of it until it has the most dramatic impact.
Edit: Thinking about it further, it makes even more sense for her to be Mystique. Nightcrawler specifically mentioned her abandoning him for being "too mutant", so maybe she wants to be human so badly she took that identity and is doing everything not to lose it? Especially when she was begging Magnus's forgiveness.
We haven't seen her in the show yet, so we don't actually know what type of character she is.
She is not guaranteed to be a ride-or-die for mutants like she is in the movies
Or maybe the writers will subvert expectations and she is just a human woman that will end up dead by the end of the series. We'll see.

@@josesarango3408 Or perhaps even Magneto. As does Sinister. He even revealed to Val about how he's using Bastion. He wouldn't just deliver Val to Bastion right after she released Magneto. What if she told Bastion about Sinister's plans? I think all 4 are playing high level chess with each other.

They did that maybe TOO hard in the original but in this version of the show Jean is definitely able to do SOME stuff at least
But it's probably like they want to distinguish between "regular" Jean Grey versus "the Phoenix" where she really could do basically almost anything

Storm is on the way she just got her powers back and Xavier just summoned her back with the rest of the team. Remember everyone is separated but of course they’ll all come back together to beat the main villain. Even Rogue and Bishop too is my guess.
I do love that Jean can wear both hair styles. I agree, in the comics the hair down works. But in the show, her hair up looks better.

We’ve seen what it’s like for Nightcrawler to teleport on X-men evolution.
beau sidelining storm and bishop makes me think he hates writing black characters. Also, his take on sunspot feels like a self-insert coming out of the closet story, instead of the cool origin story he had in the comic book, losing his girlfriend and whatnot
