i am SO glad to see jean accurately portrayed so powerful! i just wish Storm wasn’t so sidelined this season:/ here’s hoping next week has one good extended action scene!
I don’t think she was sidelined, she had her moment in one episode, detailing her omega level mutant power⛈️

I agree, Jean has always been my favorite mutant and its so nice to see her being powerful and her using her powers for more than five seconds without fainting or being taken out like in so many other versions of the x men.
I don’t think Storm was sidelined. She should have showed up an episode earlier and she should have had a moment of mourning for Gambit though.
@@Asami0303 Storm's fight scenes are the ones that stuck out to me as being memorable.
Even if she didn't get much screentime this season, Storm's scenes are still the highlights for me.
The second would be to Gambit even though he received much less screentime than Storm, in my opinion. His Genosha sacrifice is one of the key highlights of this season.
Storm literally has her own episodes and adventure quests. wtf. lol
another dialogue that stuck with me from this episode was when storm told rogue not to turn her back on family and rogue just straight up said "you were gone, gal"
I felt that one too… specially since the episode make such an effort to make Jean and Storm the bestie girlies… while Rogue was an outcast still mourning Remy.

I don't think it's a slight at her. She immediately follows it up she wasn't able to see what happened
So you are suggesting that after Storm lost her powers and whom also felt alone first, that she then should have gone with them to Genosha just to die helpless with no way to defend or help anyone ?
Grace. If Xavier turned the power back on with Magneto’s powers before the Gold Team defeated Bastion, then the Prime Sentinels would come back online and kill Jean, Storm, Beast, etc. That’s why Cyclops blasted Xavier. If he didn’t, the mutants would have lost the war in that moment.

I think she was saying that cyclops could have told the professor to put Magneto in mental stasis until gold team is ready instead of blasting Charles and fully breaking the psychic hold.
@@ChristopherMichael180 You are assuming there was time for that. As far as we know, Cyclops blasted him less than two seconds before the power was turned back on.

If the X-men ever gets into the MCU, they need to spotlight the sisterhood bond between Storm and Jean, because none of the movies did.
Actually, none of the female characters were shown to have a close bond with one another in the movies beyond having an ally/teammate relationship.
Grace....Wolverine's "The Brave Die First." is a callback to a line Magneto said in Season 1.

Loving the love they're giving to Storm and Jean's relationships. Gotta love them showcasing Jean's power from teaming up with Morph/Hulk for their own fastball special against the Sentinels to her fight with Sinister, which she was winning until Sinister pulled in Cable. Storm and Jean's words to each other were my favorite lines of the episode. Cyclops has become the Starlord of the team, interrupting Xavier's highjacking Magneto's mind. He did it because once the damage to the magnetic pole is fixed, Bastian could start up the Prime Sentinels against the gold team as well as mutants over the world.
Grace, how did you miss the "What did expect? Black leather?" dig at the first X Men movie when Cyclops said "what did you expect? Yellow spandex?"

Sunspot's allegiance change made sense. A lot of closeted people who hide themselves usually go through their resentful militant phase after coming out, plus his heart wasn't really in it with Xavier's dream in the first place.
That "What would you rather black leather?" line taking a jab at the first xmen movie where cyclops said "what would you rather yellow spandex?" was a nice touch.

I don’t like your review of Magneto going haywire. All season he has tried. From the courtroom scene til they were attacked. Life constantly shows Magneto that Xavier’s plan DOES NOT work. It’s so bad that the same humans who he told not to make him snap, assist in that.

Random question from an up to this point super casual xmen enjoyer, but why has this situation never occurred before? Have the two just never been in a room before as enemies? Or is it just such a violent act that Magneto had never considered doing it before?

The reason, Cyclops told Xavier to hold off from taking down Magneto, was the other team had to take down Bastion first before Magneto's magnetic field could come down. If they didn't take Bastion out first, all the Prime sentinels would have been re-activated. They explained this earlier in the show.
I like how they didn't shy away from the fact that Magneto's actions in the Arctic caused the death of thousands. Rogue's dialogue justifying her switch is the highlight dialogue of the show. It seems like everyone is getting a moment like that.
Banger video, Grace! My only criticism is you not mentioning the the not-so-subtle jab at the first X-Men movie's not-so-subtle jab at the comic designs when Cyclops mockingly makes a nod to the brightly colored X-Men outfits!

It just seems like a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. if he had put Scott in charge, he'd be standing there lecturing Charles about how "he deserves to raise his family, how dare you put that mission on me!" And what really doesn't make sense, is that Jean (ala Maddy) literally told Scott "maybe he's doing this so we can raise a family" like she understood, and meanwhile Jean Jean is standing there scowling at Prof X like she hates him too. Le sigh.

Genosha was wild Sentinel to push the public view to a different point as per Bastion who was playing 4D chess
Magneto's EMP most likely killed thousands of not millions of people including Mutants

I believe Scott was more angry at Professor X because he felt abandoned by him. Who he sees as a father figure. Which Scott mentioned earlier in the season when they were talking about sending his son (Nathan) in the future. He said he didn't want to abandon his son, like his father did him. So when the professor came back, that anger of feeling abandoned yet again came back.
It doesn't make sense. Episode 76 everyone was crying because he was dying. He didn't have a choice. Scott should know that.
If anything, everyone shoulda been overjoyed he was back considering they didn't know if he was dead or alive.

These episodes keep having me say: JEAN STAND UP. She’s so powerful but all her fights so far this series have been kinda disappointing. Getting popped to easy for someone of her power.
She's doing better than the original series. She used to faint in every scene lol. I doubt Cable actually defeated her anyway.

@@xv7598Because Cable "IS" supposed to be stronger than her not in the Pheonix force sense but in the Cyclops and Jean offspring sense. Thats how it was in the comics because Sinister was obsessed with creating the ultimate mutant using Jean and Scott but in the comics it was revealed that it was because he wanted to control the Phoenix force but through Madelyn he wasn't able to. Im sure Jean will use the Pheonix force in the next episode to defeat both Cable and Sinister.
9:38 if Xavier stopped Magneto at that moment the magnetic field Magneto war creating would go down, and it would make everything worse on earth, since Jean and her team were still fighting, that is why cyclops did that
So many good lines of dialogue this episode, from Storm and Jean to Magneto and Xavier. Really liking the writing and how this season seems well planned.

Cyclops is NOT a short term thinker. Xavier is an idealist and Scott is a pragmatist. That’s their difference, not long-term vs short term thinking. Your assessment is way off.
I disagree. I agree with the idealism and pragmatism but the short term and long term also makes sense. Also, these are opinions. So. No. She is not way off.
Grace is right too. The professor thinks of the long game. Plans ahead long term. And Scott is more of a problem solver at the moment. which is a great skill to have in the battle field. Xavier is the general, and Scott is the Officer leading his team in the field.
@@l.p.5703 There’s nearly 2 decades of comic that proves Cyclops competence as a long term strategic thinker. Everything from the 2000s right up to the Krakoa era. It’s an insult to the character to state otherwise. Grace as a comic fan should know this. As she said herself, she has never had this thought before.

I still refuse to believe that Madalyn is actually gone because there was no body, and Sinister like with Magneto likely captured her so I wouldn’t rule out another Jean get’s killed for Madalyn to appear again plot twists.
I always knew Roberto would eventually side it with Magneto. And i don't blame him. Unlike Jubilee, he didn't go through all that with the X-Men, all the adversity and the good times that forge bonds. The X-Men are about acceptance and chosen family. Everyone on the team is an orphan or outcast. Even Storm said the most valuable thing you can gain from being an X-Men is a family. Roberto already had a family, a father and a mother who cared about him, the people he should be able to trust and would care for him the most. Put yourself in his shoes: you come out to your parents but discover that they always knew and supported you, just to say that regardless of anything you would have to live hiding who you are. After everything, his mother had the courage to tell him to turn himself in, she let her own son be chained just to keep up appearances. For her, that was easier and more comfortable than dealing with the situation alongside Roberto. That was a stab in the back. I felt Roberto's pain. Not to mention that at that moment, following Xavier's dream was more dangerous than ever. Risking your life for people who hate you is almost too much to ask of any new person who doesn't already have those ties with the team, with that family.
Jean could die and become Death Seed Jean. She was also one of the Horseman of Apocolypse.

I dont see Rogue and Sunspot and choosing “Evil”… i see them making their choices because they are angry and betrayed and feel almost helpless. Switching gears because their way wasn’t working. Also, Rogue is a stand in for Colossus who joined Magneto’s Acolytes in Anger and Grief after his baby sister Illyana died from the Legacy Virus. Either just before or during the Fatal Attractions storyline:
Also, i see a Possibility for “Joseph,” Feral Wolverine, and even “Onslaught” for season two or three here.

The brave one dies first. Magneto said it on the original animated series when the X-Men went to rescue Senator Kelly from Mastermold. Magneto stayed in the mansion and when the blackbird flew, he said. "The brave... will always be the first to die".

I think on some small level, Scott stopped Xavier’s psychic assault on Magneto because he didn’t want his father figure to go down the dark path of killing his friend/enemy. Scott looked horrified while the attack going on.
He’s angry with Charlie, but he still cares about him. Their relationship has always been complicated.

I think when wolverine said the brave are the first to die is a reference to the season 1 finale of the original X-Men series when magneto calls Charles a fool and says the brave are always the first to die when the X-Men save senator Kelly from master mold.
