strong work my man, you did a great job,,the little ones will remember that boat for the rest of their lives,,,fishing,swimming,tubing...nothing but life long family memories ahead,,congrats!
Great that the whole family got involved, it looks like you had fun ( and kids are such little sponges for knowledge, these activities are priceless for development).
I have a 92 Spectrum I will be renovating this winter. I'm planning on rebuilding most of the interior so this video will be a great reference. Thanks!
Just bought our Father-Son project, a 1994 Spectrum 18 Sport that looks like this and inside is a pile of Aluminum parts and wood wrought in the flooring. Your video gives me hope and so many so many questions..
Enjoyed the video with the family helping. We had two little ones also, look out they grow up soooo fast. We’re lucky enough they still live in the area with their careers. I’m getting ready to do some improvements on my fishing boat also. Your vid gives me confidence thx
Nothing better than the work of love with loved one, you remind my 2 girls working with us on boat when young, now they both have great jobs due to their strong working ethics, thanks a million man.
Nice job. Beautiful results. I have a 1994 Spectrum that was sitting under a pine tree for ten years. I had to gut it also. I found that all the blown foam had absorbed water and was useless. In addition, the interior rails trapped the water in the foam. I had to drill weep holes so the water made it to the bottom of the boat. I also used sheet foam, cut to size, so there was no more water back up. Great boat. Enjoy your project.
Turned out nice . I’m in process of trying to find either a spectrum or Starcraft to build into a fishing boat . Hope your enjoying her after all the hard work
i love boats. i used to have a 25 foot cal jensen sail boat that i lived on in the channel islands marina in oxnard ca. and ive had a glastron and a canoe and now i have a 12 foot lonestar. im getting to be around 45 years old and im thinking i want to start looking around for a 27 foot center console ocean boat because i really love the ocean fishing.
Fantastic job. I'm surprised you were able to complete it in only 120 hours. Is this the first boat you rebuilt or is this your hobby? Getting the family involved is great. The kids will remember this forever. Enjoy the boat.
Awesome job!!! Looks great. Hoping you have a video coming on the paint work. I am also doing pretty much the same thing with a Sylvan 18' Pro Fisherman starting this fall. Thanks !
Amazing work! I wish I could make progress on my own restoration project like you have. What I run into is details suck up time like a black hole. I fiberglassed my deck wood then carpeted it so that sucked up some time right there. You have a family memory that will last forever. :)
Thank you for the kind words. The project was well worth the effort and indeed a great memory with the family. Good luck with your boat it sounds like you're close to competition.
i love your work I seen a lot these used boats going up for sale around in my area on fb and Kijiji thinkking of doing my own kinda project too nice vids btw
What did the deck look like before you started the restoration? I’m getting ready to restore a 1985 Crestliner Nordic. The seats are revived when I bought it and only cover glass deck, no carpet
Nice job,,if I had a couple of expert consultants like you had I might try something like this,, hope you-all are enjoying your boat,,thanks for the video,,,
Nicely done. Can someone please educate me on the need for foam? If the original foam was saturated, it is very likely that the replacement foam will also fet saturated. So why add foam?
Nope the boat has held up great. I added a trolling motor, upgraded the seats, rod holders, fish finder and added more lights. Same Johnson is still running strong.
What a restoration job! Nicely done. I was just curious how you installed the pedestal seat bases. I’m looking to do the same for my boat. I have a wooden floor deck and wanted to know what is the most effective way to ensure longevity, stability, and sturdiness for a safe and smooth ride?
lots of great work. I would use all marine ply ( no voids), and then saturate it with epoxy diluted with acetone ( home made penetrating epoxy) with lots of attention to the edges. And then paint. The epoxy will seal it and keep it from rotting. Making your efforts last a Lot Longer !
Great job, very meticulous! I have a 96 Spectrum Sport and I would like to touch up that paint. The white paint you used on the transom, was it a good match for the original white? If so, what brand and color was it? Thanks!
What adhesive did u use for the carpet? I have used a deck adhesive in the past but it let go after a few years. Im gonna start my my rebuild next week.
I used a TEC Indoor Outdoor Carpet Adhesive from Menards. It's holding up great from me so far. I just powerwashed the boat clean. It looks just like new even today. Good luck with your rebuild!
strong work my man, you did a great job,,the little ones will remember that boat for the rest of their lives,,,fishing,swimming,tubing...nothing but life long family memories ahead,,congrats!

I love boat restoration projects. It’s even better when you can get the family involved. Great job!
Your video saved the day. Took apart the front of ours before remembering how the aluminum sat in it. Great build!
The boat that I’m tearing down is identical to your but is 18’ . Your build turned out nice . I love your inspectors .
What a beautiful thing. Not just the boat but the whole family involved!!
Great that the whole family got involved, it looks like you had fun ( and kids are such little sponges for knowledge, these activities are priceless for development).
What a great family project that the girls will never forget. Nice job.

You must be one heck of a aluminum welder. Awesome fabrication/ rehab on the rest of the craft. Your quality manager’s are adorable too.
nice 1 m8, good to see the first officer an crew involved too
Good wholesome family fun. Great project.
Nice Work, sold many of these Spectrum Boats; was a Brunswick owned boat div. Most were packaged with Force engines.
Just bought our Father-Son project, a 1994 Spectrum 18 Sport that looks like this and inside is a pile of Aluminum parts and wood wrought in the flooring. Your video gives me hope and so many so many questions..
It's easier than it looks. Just take it one step at a time. Lots of great memories.
Ya done good Dad they will remember helping you for the rest of their lives
Nice that you involved your whole family 👍

Great boat. Awesome memories for your kiddos.
Nothing better than the work of love with loved one, you remind my 2 girls working with us on boat when young, now they both have great jobs due to their strong working ethics, thanks a million man.
Great job. I have a 16’ spectrum and only need a floor and pour foam. My winter project. 😊

Looks like a great family project. One you can all enjoy in the future.
Wow! I wish that I could've seen this before I rebuilt my boat in 2015! Beautiful work!
Really nicely done! And I love the addition of the kids and funny messages.
Time with family, priceless.

Job well done. I'd trust that vessel anywhere.
Nice job and nice new boat
Awesome job!!! Looks great. Hoping you have a video coming on the paint work. I am also doing pretty much the same thing with a Sylvan 18' Pro Fisherman starting this fall.

Do you have any pictures of your boat now?
Amazing work! I wish I could make progress on my own restoration project like you have. What I run into is details suck up time like a black hole. I fiberglassed my deck wood then carpeted it so that sucked up some time right there. You have a family memory that will last forever. :)
Thank you for the kind words. The project was well worth the effort and indeed a great memory with the family. Good luck with your boat it sounds like you're close to competition.
How did you plan your carpet and how did you get it pre-cut?
Great job. Your kids look so happy. Can’t put a price on any of that.
Beautiful job!
i love your work I seen a lot these used boats going up for sale around in my area on fb and Kijiji thinkking of doing my own kinda project too nice vids btw
Excellent job.
Well done!
by the way awesome boat. well worth the effort. i just wish more people would make the effort to roll up their sleeves and restore vs discard
Nice Job on the boat.
Awesome job
Looks like a fishing machine!
If you haven't painted that beauty yet. Have you considered a vinyl wrap? A search turns up some beautiful boat and auto examples.
B Stott funny you mentioned it I'm debating a full color wrap but my only hesitation is they last 5-7 years.
Great job, from over the pond in England, especially the two beautiful little experts, gorgeous little girls.
Wow. Tons of complex layout work.
Looking good! Cute kids too. Thanks for sharing your work. :)
Great job.

Family time...priceless!

Nicely done. Can someone please educate me on the need for foam? If the original foam was saturated, it is very likely that the replacement foam will also fet saturated. So why add foam?
It's a safety feature. If for example I hit a log and rip a hole in the boat. It's also USCG required for small vessels.
Great work!
you are a great dad
Man I've got the same boat. It's there anything you would had done differently?
Nope the boat has held up great. I added a trolling motor, upgraded the seats, rod holders, fish finder and added more lights. Same Johnson is still running strong.
nice work

Impressive! Wish I had your skills.
well done but with an A crew like that...failure was not an option good job and great memories safe boating
very nice mate!!!
Hi. I own just the same boat, certainly after restore.

What did you use to aluminum weld the transom area?
