    Great job. I have a 16’ spectrum and only need a floor and pour foam. My winter project. 😊

  • @johnpalko9820
    @johnpalko9820 5 років тому

    Nice job. Beautiful results. I have a 1994 Spectrum that was sitting under a pine tree for ten years. I had to gut it also. I found that all the blown foam had absorbed water and was useless. In addition, the interior rails trapped the water in the foam. I had to drill weep holes so the water made it to the bottom of the boat. I also used sheet foam, cut to size, so there was no more water back up. Great boat. Enjoy your project.

    i love boats. i used to have a 25 foot cal jensen sail boat that i lived on in the channel islands marina in oxnard ca. and ive had a glastron and a canoe and now i have a 12 foot lonestar. im getting to be around 45 years old and im thinking i want to start looking around for a 27 foot center console ocean boat because i really love the ocean fishing.

    Amazing work! I wish I could make progress on my own restoration project like you have. What I run into is details suck up time like a black hole. I fiberglassed my deck wood then carpeted it so that sucked up some time right there. You have a family memory that will last forever. :)

    Nicely done. Can someone please educate me on the need for foam? If the original foam was saturated, it is very likely that the replacement foam will also fet saturated. So why add foam?

      It's a safety feature. If for example I hit a log and rip a hole in the boat. It's also USCG required for small vessels.

    lots of great work. I would use all marine ply ( no voids), and then saturate it with epoxy diluted with acetone ( home made penetrating epoxy) with lots of attention to the edges. And then paint. The epoxy will seal it and keep it from rotting. Making your efforts last a Lot Longer !
