    • @1KINDPhotography

      Focus is just as fast as the Canon. Like all EF-RF adapters, all it's doing is letting the EF lens communicate with the camera, autofocusing and providing EXIF data.

    Amazing review! How solid the mounts are? Does it have any play/wiggle? Seems to be solid to me here. I have a Sony camera and considering on buying the Laowa periprobe lens which is a serious investment at $2,300. Instead of buying directly the E-mount variant, I want to go with the EF version because the E-mount version has an adapter built for it so it's not a native mirrorless lens to begin with according to the older 24mm probe lens version I've already bought. Also the probe lens can't have any sort of filter up front if I wanna keep it f14 at bright sunlight while using the 180 shutter rule in video. This also means I can sell it to any camera owner much faster than being dedicated to Sony alone. Also there is another problem with all Laowa lenses is that they don't have weather sealing in the gasket and I use my camera in humid, rainy, dusty environments all the time so this Meike has weather sealing in the E-mount end with the clear/VND filter working as an extra protection for the sensor as well.
    Long story short, does the EF mount end solid/tight? Or does it have any sort of wiggle? Gonna tighten the front end of that lens anyway with a lens support but wanna know more from your first hand experience.

    • @1KINDPhotography
      @1KINDPhotography  6 місяців тому +1

      Mounts are solid and no issues with no play or wiggle. For me, its the same as the native lens in terms of fitment.

    Hi, thanks for this great video… have you tested this mount nd adapter with flash photography ? If not, could you make a small video as well on that topic. Also, is this mount is cheaper than the canon one ?

    • @1KINDPhotography
      @1KINDPhotography  2 роки тому

      This mount is cheaper than Canon. ND filters are not meant to be used with flash as ND darkens the image. If you want to use EF lenses on R series cameras, look at the basic EF-RF adapters
      bit.ly/canon_ef_rf_adapters

      @@1KINDPhotography thank you so much for your response...
      So do you mean that they are only for videography?

    • @1KINDPhotography
      @1KINDPhotography  2 роки тому +1

      @@skottmellins4584 Technically, you can use flash but its probably not the best option. I personally think it would be more of a hassle because you'd have to constantly adjust the ND filter to compensate for the flash. The ND filter if anything with negate the flash because you're darkening the image with the ND only to use the flash to make it properly exposed. If you had a static LED light shining at your subject, that would be the best option as you can expose properly. Ideally, those who use NDs are those who shoot in very bright outdoors conditions, go from indoor to outdoor and don't want to fiddle with settings (ie UA-camrs/Vloggers) or those who shoot indoor with a bright window behind their subject and want to bring back some of the detail what is outside that window with a ND and use video lights to properly expose the dark subject. Its also used for long exposure shots as well.
      Short answer, ND can work with flash. Anything is possible...just a matter of experience and how much more work you want to do with post editing. I personally think its not the best option to be used with flash but if you want to go that route, you can.
      It doesn't seem like you know what a ND filter does. Its best if you do more research on it to see if this is what you're looking for. If you're just looking to attach EF lenses to your R series camera, that is what the basic or control ring adapter is for.
      Quick explanation of ND filter on the web:
      - An ND filter acts like sunglasses would to your eyes, it blocks light coming into the lens like sunglasses blocks light coming into your eyes. ND stands for Neutral Density which means it blocks the light in a neutral way without changing the colour of the light.
      - ND filters are particularly useful for maintaining the color effect of images while controlling the exposure in bright light conditions. A filter prevents excess light from reaching the camera sensor so photographers can shoot in a wider aperture for longer periods.

      but I’m sorry to say that of course I know what an ND filter does.
      I’m a professional videographer and photographer.
      But I was just asking you that because ND filters are sometimes very great tools to make stunning photos (eventhough and you’re right, there are better options to do the job, but not always) and I’m very surprised you do not use them in your photography journey, try and you will see.

      @@skottmellins4584 there is no problem to dont use this or the original canon ef-rf adapter (nd) for flash photography (outdoors in bright sunlight). its the same like a normal ndf or v-ndf infront of the lens. the ndf or v-ndf reduces the amount of sunlight to keep the shutterspeed below or exactly on max flashsyncspeed. so u can use the full power of the flash (avoiding hss). for videography to keep the 180-degree rule....i use it exactly that way :D

    • @1KINDPhotography
      @1KINDPhotography  2 роки тому +1

      Auto AF works just like the Canon adapter. All the adapter does is let you adapter EF lenses, lets your lens communicate with the camera for AF and EXIF data. There is no color shift or any issues from what I have seen.

    Can someone explain the following: I heard autofocus doesn't work unless you have the clear filter. But I wanted to use the variable ND for filming, with autofocus. Will this be impossible? Also can I use the variable ND with autofocus while shooting stills?

    • @1KINDPhotography
      @1KINDPhotography  Рік тому

      whether having a clear filter or ND filter, it does not affect autofocus. Autofocus is dependent on the lens you attach to the adapter. JJC sells caps that covers the opening when no filter is used and AF will still work on the camera.
      if your lens has AF, it will focus with or without any filters.

    is the pretty much the same as a speed booster?

    • @1KINDPhotography
      @1KINDPhotography  2 роки тому

      No. Two completely different things.
      The Speed Booster is for 4K crop and is meant for video usage and it costs more. There's a piece of glass in the middle that eliminates the focal length crop factor to make it more in line with the actual focal length of the lens while also giving you extra stops of light.
      Drop-in Filter is just that...drop-in filters (CPL and VND). So instead of the filter being on the front of your EF lens, its in between the lens and camera. There's no need for individual VND or CPL filters for the each EF lenses you have. This has nothing to do nor affect the crop factor or focal length.

The only thing to have an eye on with this adapter + filter is the strong yellowish color cast it gives when used to the max, I saw many videos about and I got concern about it. Would love to see more videos about that .

      They perform better than the Canon variants, the best performance (slightly better than the Meike one) delivers the 350$ ND from breakthrough
      Especially the canon variant of the ND has at maximum level heavy color shift.
      I would suggest breakthrough (except for the ND, where i would go for the included one at Meike) filters, they are incredible what they deliver like variable color filters, light pollution filter for astrophotography (the one i will pick soon! Hope its at least as good i expect it to be bcause good filters for AP light pollution cost easily 200$+, not 150) etc.
