Am I seeing things or did the filtered footage has reduced details in shadows? Also I can see LESS flares and loss of contrast with the filter. How is that even possible?
I will never use Meike adapters anymore since one of them broke and a 500€ lens fell on the ground and broke. Extremely unreliable quality. More spefically what broke is the inner part where the little screws are connected somehow cracked and came out with the lens. Save money with an adapter, but make sure that there is some kind of backup mechanism holding the kit together when the adapter breaks. Good luck!
This isn't physically possible. The reason there are adapters like this and speedboosters is because of the flange distance of mirrorless cameras. We need an adapter with distance in it to use EF lenses (made for DSLRs) because mirrorless cameras don't have the mirror box. This allows manufacturers to add other things in the adapter.

I almost always have the ISO at the base (800 in Clog3). Shutter speed at double the frame rate and then chose aperture based on preferred depth of field. Change the exposure using NDs or lighting. You can't get that because of the flange distance. Mirrorless lenses need to be close to the sensor. The only reason we can get ND adapters is that we are using DSLR lenses that need that extra space so they can add a filter in there.
@@Josh_Sattin yes you did mention that you were using a Canon R5, but that was not the question. He asked, "Does it work in full frame only or can use this adapter in apsc likeR7?" Your response, " It works on full frame." So does it work on full frame ONLY, or can it work on an APSC too?

Check out this video about exposing Clog3: ua-cam.com/video/JCDaz1Ewirg/v-deo.html
@@Josh_Sattin Thanks, yeah, I'm gonna go the ND route. With that nice Meike adapter, not too much of a hassle. I just wasn't sure what lowering the ISO to 400 or so would do to the image quality in CLOG3.
Lowering the ISO to 400 to darken a brighter exposure will actually shift more information to the shadows. Which I know is actually counterintuitive. Better to stop down the lens. For more info on that, check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/AWzqLE64TzI/v-deo.html
Hi I love your videos I use canon m6 ii and they have the same adapter EF to EF M but is it good as this one ? or it's the same VND filter from meike ?
I have only tried the one I show in this video.
Correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t this add more vulnerability to the sensor with dust and moisture 🧐
how?
@@SonnyBCreative doesn’t the slit expose the sensor in between changing nd filters? And idk if it was mentioned if the adapter also includes weather sealing
Meike claims that it is "dust and water resistant": meikeglobal.com/products/meike-mk-eftr-c-auto-focus-lens-adapter-ef-ef-s-lens-to-eos-r-camers
Can you dial to 0 stops? I often need to take the ND off for photography and if shooting in low light.
No you can't. I discuss this in the video. It goes down to approximately 1.5 stops but you can swap the ND filter out with the provided clear one.
variable nd sucks with those polarisation effects and vignette.
breakthrough photography have solid nd drop in filters but they are too pricey.
Why cant I buy a built in VND Filter that IS NOT an Adapter.. I want to just shoot my EOS-M Lenses with a built in but its simply not available.. there is an opening in the market for somebody!
You can't get that because of the flange distance. Mirrorless lenses need to be close to the sensor. The only reason we can get ND adapters is that we are using DSLR lenses that need that extra space so they can add a filter in there.
as well as EF lens to EF camera bodies?
Please see the explanation to your other question.
It's time for camera manufacturers to include a built-in nd filter.
All these solutions do no good.
Does it work in full frame only or we can use this adapter in apsc like R7 ?
It works on full frame. I mention that in this video and the testing was done on the R5.
@@Josh_Sattin Ok thank you sir
Also works for APS-C.
At 10:30 I thought you said "It's extra, fucking $530" and it really made me laugh cus that is ridiculous. But I don't think that's what you said 😭
What about the autofocus with this ND adapter? Or just for manual used
Please watch the whole video.
Couldn't they just make a slider with no glass? It will still keep out the dust.
I sent the Canon ND back. Poor built quality and after MID it just turns bluish tint. I’ll stay with my lens ND.
can you retype your sentence? i dont understand
Is there a RF to RF VRB ND?
There is not.
@@Josh_Sattin Ahh I see. so doing the same for s RF RF would change the focal length.
fantastic explanation. Thanks.
So for RF the front ND is the only solution.
@@ThorstenBergContentCreator You're welcome. It's not just changing the focal length, the camera/lens wouldn't work properly. And yes, NDs in front of RF lenses is the solution. Thanks for watching!
I have a RF 24-105mm F/4-7,1 IS STM lens for my Canon EOS RP ... so this doesn't work you say? No RF? What ND filter do you recommend for my setup?
Yes, you can not use a RF lens with this adapter. You can only use EF lenses. Here is a video that I did comparing ND filters: ua-cam.com/video/RqUcaDNl-7g/v-deo.html
To anybody that owns a Komodo or Komodo-x
Massive unusable color cast with the original canon vnd when you shut it down. Almost non wide open. Hardly non with the mike.
Build of the canon ist superior though. And does not sit as tight. So I have to disagree.
All they did was copy canons one!!!!!!!
