Thank you, sir! It’s ridiculous that this EGO product isn’t labeled clearly so we can do this ourselves, but you saved the day! I also didn’t have the strength to push those tabs in, so I used a screw driver and pulled with the other hand.
EGO, if you’re listening, please send your designers back to the drawing board!
🙂👍
Same problem with me
Steven, I couldn’t agree more👍 EGO edgers definitely need some engineering improvements‼️
Great right to the point videos ! Can’t thank you enough sir , I appreciate you sharing the knowledge.
Thanks for the kind words!!!
I had my spool removed and reloaded in a less than 2 minutes with the help of this video. Excellent !
Awesome! Thanks!
Great job! Fixed my stuck spool in no time thanks to your video.
Great. Glad to hear that!
Thank you Mr. I was able to screw this up and fix it before my husband saw it! You’re the best!😊
😂😂👍👍
Thanks a million! Re-stringing is fun, but I wound it until one end went inside the head.
Yep, been there...
Thanks Dude! Old lady here. I had to use the back of the wire plyer to push in on the tab. The mechanism released. Great explanation. Thanks so much.
Thanks! And good job!
Seems like Ego rethought this spool design because it is SO difficult to remove. But as others said, this video helps a lot. Thank you!
👍🙂
Thank you! I'm so happy that we have UA-cam and people like you to help us!!!
Thanks!
Thank you for posting this! Simple and well-shot video. You've got a new sub!
Great! Thank you!
Thank you! I was disappointed that the one problem I had was not listed in the troubleshooting chart in the manual. Your video saved the day.
Awesome!
Thank you. When my little guy helps it sometimes ends badly . lol. The button to load string is irresistable.
😁
Right to the point on how to get it done. Great video.
Thanks!
Thank you sir, just gave me the fix I needed quick to get back to my yard work!
Excellent!!!
Thank you so much for this great video! I was struggling haha but after watching this, I was able to do this and restring by myself.

Thanks Brother I've been wondering what I would do when that happened to me, now I know thanks to you, I'm subscribed to your channel.
👍😁
Thanks. Your a life saver.
Thanks, Mary!
Thanks, I had to remove the head on mine, this made it easy.
Great!
Use Ego premium string and you will not have string breakage problems, I learned the hard way.
I’ll try the EGO premium string then.
Thank you! Back to the garage!
😄👍
Thank you for this video!
👍🙂
The string feeder keeps getting stuck - won't bump string out- Going to try EGO string next to see if that helps
Yes, changing string is a good idea. That's usually the culprit to string not coming out during bumping
I tried to depress the tabs you illustrate but I don't seem to have the hand/finger strength to depress the tabs. IS there some sort of pliers/tool you can recommend?
Try a flathead screwdriver and just wiggle it in until it slides past the tab. Then do the other tab. That should work. I think there are some other comments where people explain how they used a screwdriver. And yes, it is difficult sometimes with just one's fingers.
Thank you SO much! Great video.
You're welcome. And thanks!
The head on mine will not advance the string no matter how hard a bump it on the ground. I have to take it apart and re-string it every time. Is the head worn out? Every thing looks fine inside. When I look on Amazon for a replacement ST1500SF head, the reviews are mixed. Some say the new head fixed the problem, others say it doesn't fit.
Others have had the same problem but I never have. Mine works great every time. Perhaps using a different string would make a difference - different thickness and/or style (e.g., braided vs. round). I'd try that before replacing the head.
You are the maaaaaaaaaan! Thank you for your help.
YW!
Thanks for that. Do you have a video on how to remove the line trimmer head and replace it with brush cutter blades?
Sorry, no I don't.
How do u take the head off and put a Breyer head on I can’t see a way to disengaged it to unscrew the whole head
Normally u put a pin in somewhere but there’s no hole please help
Sorry, I'm not familiar as I haven't tried taking the head off.
Soooo helpful. Thank you!
YW!
And now I know. I appreciate you.
Thanks!
I need to replace the entire head and not just the spool. Called EGO and yet the issue has not been resolved. I have a new trimmer head, but I need to know how to remove the base of the trimmer, down to the mechanical part. I cannot replace the entire head which includes the lower tabs. Thank you.
There are other videos on UA-cam that show that. I haven't had to do that so don't have a video on it.
I bought the floor model and it appears it might have to much string in it..can't get it ti release the spool?
Try using a flat-head screwdriver to press in each tab, and use the screwdriver to gently pry the spool down as the screwdriver is I'm each tab slot.
I love my B&D trimmer
Why is my spool attached to the base and not the cover like yours?
I don't know
Thank you sir! Just happened to me!
👍👍😄
Thank you
Well done 👍
Thank you!
I have a problem here…. I have the tabs pushed in but the head won’t budge! Any suggestions?
Probably have some gunk or debris in there causing it to be a little tight. Should just be able to pull hard on the head but you might try using a screwdriver to push the same tabs in while also prying slightly on the tab hole to get it off.
Thank you very much!
👍
Thank you!
🙂👍
Thank you!!
👍
Thank you
YW!
I have the head off but have no idea how to replace the string
Or try this: ua-cam.com/video/t4AlYj77SAg/v-deo.html
Mine wasn't feeding, and eventually broke off and became stuck.
...I had wound it the wrong direction...🙄
Interesting. Hadn't heard of that happening but I'm sure you're not the only one. Thanks for sharing.
Very helpful
Thanks
Perfect thanks!
😄👍
Had to put on the ground and use flat head to push in tabs. Spring loaded not on this go.
Thanks for sharing
My spool doesn’t come out! What am I doing wrong. Is this the “rapid reload” model?
I answered another comment of yours. Not sure if it answered your question because I see this one, too. Is string getting stuck inside and won't release as you use it? If so, it's most likely the kind of string you're using. There's a link in the Description of the video to EGO brand string that won't get stuck.
If you have a different question, let me know.
@@FixEverythingYourself Thanks. I have the “rapid reload” model without the removable spool (maybe it’s an older model?). It’s working. I had to feed half the 16’ of line through and twist to wind like you show. It doesn’t have markings for alignment, so I just loaded, twisted, and started working again. It’s a lot easier than the older style (in which you wind the line onto the spool before loading it into the machine). Good stuff.
Glad to hear it.
Perfect.
👍
I need the link to replace the string please
Try this: ua-cam.com/video/UiCv9Xpq36I/v-deo.html
I can't get the head off mine. Can't imagine what I'm doing wrong
I remember mine being pretty tight the first time I took it off but I can't think of anything special I did other than maybe twist it a little while I pushed the tabs.
I'm having the same problem.
As am I. How did you fix it?
I used a flathead and popped it out. Be careful as you can end up damaging the head
@@RoboShinKen do you use the flat head on each tab one at the time?
Mine won’t budge
The tabs won't budge? I found that it attaches pretty tightly so you may have to try to twist the spool head a little (back and forth) at the same time you're squeezing the tabs. In that case, having a helper would be good so that one person can twist it while the other is squeezing the tabs.
The spool does not come out. HELP PLEASE
Spool doesn't need to come out. Try this video: ua-cam.com/video/t4AlYj77SAg/v-deo.html
Thanks...
You're welcome, Don!
Link to reload doesn’t show
It was towards the beginning but I just moved it to the 2:47 mark and there's also a big thumbnail for it that shows up about 20 seconds before the video ends.
Thanks, I was able to remove the trimmer head with a lot of coaxing. Now if it would advance when I tap the ground I would be all setl
😄
I saved this since it happens every single time i use this pos
Thanks, but dang. Mine has been trouble-free but glad this helps.
I can't even press the damn tabs to get it off
Use a flat-head screwdriver to depress the tabs. That works great for me.
The head won't remove. It released but it won't go out. Had to revert to the $29 craftsman electric with a 500 mile cord. Weed eater is the worst job in the world.
Does it have the same tabs as shown in the video? Mine was purchased in 2017 so perhaps they changed the design? Or if it does have the tabs, maybe just need to pull harder after they're pressed in.
Number 2 not the right video
What a pain in my ass. Piece of 200$ junk
There customer service is just as bad as this crap design. Bought this junk last year and it's already messed up.
Thank you
🙂👍
Thank you!
You're welcome!
