Thank you so much! I had such trouble trying to get those tabs down, I never thought of gently using a flathead screwdriver. You've rescued us this time!
The last time I messed with a weed whacker was probably 30 years ago. My gf does the yard at our house. It got jammed and I offered to fix it. And... whoa... what the hell is up with this new feeding it in spooling thingy. I got the manual and that was useless. One time through of your video and I was the hero of this story. Thanks!!!
Thank you so much for posting this. I had even called the company and they couldn't help me and I had looked for an online instruction manual and that didn't turn up any help but this helped me so much. I'm so thankful.
Wow! You are a lifesaver! Have struggled with this endlessly- even having to repeatedly take the strimmer into the dealership to get it reloaded. Simple clear instructions- my thanks to you sir from Boston in the UK 🙂👍
@David Tennent so glad to help! And thank you for the shout out from the UK! In case you have more EGO equipment, here is my full playlist. ua-cam.com/play/PLxwydrM6xLuXnc39AF0vaAYvLdauVFlBU.html
Thank you. Very clear. The Ego company should have made videos on specific product topics, but they didn't. They should pay you for your services. Bumping our Rapid Reload Head didn't work, so we'll look to see if you have a video on that subject. (Perhaps our line is jammed. Will find out in a few minutes after we've opened the head according to your instructions.)
Glad it was helpful! I have found out that EGO has actually started sending people to my videos for help. That's good for me. Good luck on getting the head to feed. Feel free to ask any questions. And here is my full EGO playlist ua-cam.com/play/PLxwydrM6xLuXnc39AF0vaAYvLdauVFlBU.html
Man thanks so much. I haven't used this in a month bc I thought dealing with the jammed string would be WAAAAAY worse. Thanks for your time and help!!!
Thanks for this, all the other videos are for the older head and I was so confused, and was having a hard time getting those side tabs unhooked. You answered all my questions.
Yes, I joined the crowd too. What a great video, got right to the point. Just got mine from Amazon and was getting ready to send it back. Mine is new with old style cup. But runs very good on slow speed. I am using 5 amp battery and has 4 bars left after I used it to trim whole lot with fence. I am thinking about getting 2.5 amp battery to save weight. I also have the self=driven lawn mower, but it has not arrived. The mower comes with two 5 amp batteries. Our lawn people are spoiled rotten and do not work after lite rain or work on weekends. But thanks for making my day.
I'm watching these trying to find the easiest one to buy but from the comments here I don't think this is it even though you made it look easy. I need to replace my corded one which was a Sears brand and had precut strings to put in one by one, when it gets short you pop another one in. It was wonderful, why doesn't anyone else offer this. Thanks for the video.
@JanW thanks for you comment / question. The precut strings may be easy to load, but they are not efficient. Not much string there so you have to change it out frequently. You have to know that when you see comments of people having trouble loading the string, that is a small percentage of people that are enjoying this system very much. This is truly one of the simplest and quickest loading systems available. Once my kids were shown how, they now load it themselves.
You have NO IDEA what I have been through trying to load this darn thing!! My husband said to do it his way, so for two years, the brand new weed wacker didn't get used. Found your video and man! What a life saver! THANK YOU!!! Now if you could tell me WHY it won't feed when I tap it, I have to put pressure on it to feed. Oh and tonight using it, it stopped feeding altogether and the line wouldn't come out on one side. Had to reload another new batch of yellow orange line. but THANK YOU
I'm glad that I could help. I don't know why it's not feeding. I can say this. I find it best to use .095 twisted line and to use no more then 14 feet to not overload the head. Long grass/hay or things like twine can get wrapped up under the head which make it not work properly. Here is my video on replacing the head. ua-cam.com/video/aifVVEETtwM/v-deo.html
I'm really glad that I could help out. Here is our EGO playlist that hopefully can help you out on the rest of the line. ua-cam.com/play/PLxwydrM6xLuXnc39AF0vaAYvLdauVFlBU.html
Thanks. I had reloaded before, but forgot about clockwise. When I did try clockwise I must have had the head closed. Watching you made me realize it, Also, I think I may end up being happier it's manual.
Thanks mate! With so many new technologies in almost every product, it can be a little exhausting and overwhelming to keep having to pull a manual every 5 seconds. Taking the time to make vids like this is really helpful. Thanks again.
Thanks for this video. I'd have never gotten the head off my unit without using the screwdriver as you did. I had already bought some new string but my trimmer still had plenty; it was all jammed up internally. I got it fixed and it worked properly afterwards.
Thank you for the clear instructions. It's actually really good that the clip popped out, and there were other little issues; that really helps to see how to deal with stuff like that if it happens. Much appreciated!
I had commented on another video you did and you responded with an updated video for me that was likely the trimmer I purchased. you were correct and I thank you again for your very easy to understand video. How can I not subscribe to your channel!
Huge Thank You .. 💯👏👏 This video shows the exact same one I have . I know it is simple . But it makes me so frustrated with trimmer line . You help me solve my problem and headache . 🇺🇸💙🇺🇸
This was helpful. I have the same trimmer head and have cursed it after trying to get it to load correctly. correctly. You demonstrated exactly what I was doing wrong.
You are welcome. Once you know the tricks, this should be one of the easiest and quickest bump heads to load. Here is my full EGO playlist for many more great EGO videos. ua-cam.com/play/PLxwydrM6xLuXnc39AF0vaAYvLdauVFlBU.html
Dude! Love this video. I had nothing but issues till I watched your video and I have watched other videos but they were not as good great job thank you for educating me
Thanks for the sub! That is awesome and on a video that I just made live like 30 minutes ago. Here is our webpage with everything EGO www.aroundthehome.org/ego-power-plus.html
I appreciate this cause I just bought a new ego string trimmer and it says u just have to push those tabs and pull off the head to replace the string well that was not happening making me feel kind of stupid, so I looked it up and wala I'm have to use the screw driver method lol, thanks
Thanks for the clear instructions - really helps a new user. On another note, am I the only one who hates that the string is 2 inches from the bottom of the head? I just got this trimmer (sta1500 that came with the power head with interchangeable tools), and it seems awkward to use compared to my gas trimmer where the string is closer to the bottom. Maybe I'm just not used to it but it seems like you have to tilt excessively to cut low.
@Phil Shock at first I wasn't following what you were saying. I came from standard gas trimmers before these. I honestly don't remember changing that much when holding it, so it must have come natural after the 2nd or 3rd use. Glad to help and here is my full EGO playlist if you start getting more EGO tools. ua-cam.com/play/PLxwydrM6xLuXnc39AF0vaAYvLdauVFlBU.html
Thank you so much explaining this, I purchased this new one and couldn’t figure out how to replace line, it just ran out now I’ll stop and buy new line …
I figured it out but I’ve been looking anyways just to see how other people do it and this is a great video thank you. That’s the head I have but I couldn’t see the arrows cause mines been tapped on the ground a lot but I got it worked it actually I lubed it up with some silicon spray from WD-40 all the parts and it seems to work a little better, but thank you and great video.
I’ve had my ego trimmer with this speed load head for a little over a month and have been disappointed. The bump feed always jams with 6-8 ft of line still on the spool. It even jammed with the line that came with the new trimmer. I’ve had to replace the line 3 times even though I only trim every other mow, maybe twice a month. I’ll call customer support but unless they redesign the head I’m not sure what they can/will do. Very disappointing because I love the ego mower I just bought.
Just bought my 15: and the feed line jammed. Tried to reuse the twisted line but could not get it to go thru the head even after clipping the end. Solution is to push the line partly through just right beofre the exit hole before squeezing the lower head in.
Mine will not let me manually twist it to reel in new string??????? Everything is exactly where it should be and I can't twist it and I'm turning it in the right direction!

It’s way too hard to get the plastic tabs to release; good to see that I’m not the only one that had to resort to a flat-blade screwdriver. On top of that, Ego included the wrong instruction manual with my trimmer. Only after watching your video was it clear that I should wind the line in a clockwise direction (the manual show counter-clockwise).
Thanks. I just used mine for the first time today (my first trimmer too) and jammed it instantly. The written directions that came with it were less than helpful.
ok this is 2023 these effen things ! gonna slap any 'engeneer' thinks winding string works so i seen the self winder video which is about twenty years late !really? took till now?? so i's have the ego 56 v and the head freespins and the(stupidly engeneered guide bits ) just fly out as soon as i hit the first grass manual rewind only i guess then fit ends thru guide bits whilst trying to seat the spool Whoever designed this needs to be forever forced to restring this piece if crap into eternity

Have you ever had the bump feed not work I’ve seen some reviews that the bump feed on particularly the multi heads trimmer not working well
I have not. Though I have had some viewers mention that and they also said that the tension on the bolt that holds it in place was too tight.
@@AroundTheHome1 ok thank you
No problem. Here is my video on replacing the Rapid Reload head. Might help. ua-cam.com/video/aifVVEETtwM/v-deo.html
That's not a problem I have encountered with either of my 2 EGO trimmers, not my daughter whom I bought one for as well. What line are you using?

THANK YOU THANk YOU THANK YOU, I was soo mad at this thing I was about to smash it
So glad to help.
Can you replace this head with a speed feed 400 bump head without issues?
So did EGO stop making the power head? I sure hope not as I love that feature.
EGO still has many models that have the PowerLoad head. This Rapid Reload head is the base model.
Thanks for the help

Hey I have a ST1520S trimmer will the AH1530 head fit on that trimmer ?
That is the powerload head system? If so, then no the rapid reload head does not work there.
This is a good tutorial but I am not strong enough to wind the string on my rapid reload. Is there anything I can dO?
I haven't come across that question before. Is it jammed up making it hard to turn?
I couldn’t get the string to wind up. And the battery was held to takeoff. I’m taking mine back.
Hi, I think I lost my center spring in the head. I don't see it. Can you give me the specs so I can find one similar please
This will be your best bet, short of buying a new head. www.ereplacementparts.com/ego-parts-c-689963.html If you need to buy a new head here is my video on that along with the Amazon links for it in the video. ua-cam.com/video/aifVVEETtwM/v-deo.html
Hi, thanks for the information. Ordered one and hope it will works!
What cause it not to feed when you bump it?
What string are you using and how long was it?
@@AroundTheHome1 they were the EGO strings, they were about a total length of 10’ so 5’ on each side
Is the head old and worn out, or new?
Why would they put the lines on the bottom, they're worn off from use,
How long need to be the string?
Maximum of 15 feet. 13 to 14 feet is better.
Thank you
You're welcome
Thanks for this. I like my ST-1500’s cutting performance but the process of replacing the line tests my patience each time. Are you opening the head every time you reload the string??

mine has no winding
Thanks. I just used mine for the first time today (my first trimmer too) and jammed it instantly.
The written directions that came with it were less than helpful.
Glad it helped! Here is our full EGO playlist. ua-cam.com/play/PLxwydrM6xLuXnc39AF0vaAYvLdauVFlBU.html
They do not have much St Augustine grass in China, if they do they eat it
ok this is 2023 these effen things ! gonna slap any 'engeneer' thinks winding string works so i seen the self winder video which is about twenty years late !really? took till now?? so i's have the ego 56 v and the head freespins and the(stupidly engeneered guide bits ) just fly out as soon as i hit the first grass manual rewind only i guess then fit ends thru guide bits whilst trying to seat the spool Whoever designed this needs to be forever forced to restring this piece if crap into eternity
This thing don't turn at all...
Thanks!
