the story being weak isnt a secret. All fans agree and Naughty Dog them selves admitted that they focused on set pieces first, and made up a story to go with the set pieces. There was complications with the development of the game: Amy Henning (the lead Director of the game and I think writer aswell, left ND half way through production, Neil Druckman had to take over while he was also leading the development of another secret game at the time... The Last of Us) and the guy who played Cuter left production half way through as well to do a movie. Originally Chloe and Cuter would had played more interesting roles, but since the guy playing Cuter had to go, the story had to be modify with Chloe and Cuter disappearing from the rest of the story. Even with all that... it still manage to be a better story than a ton of games out there now. But... it wasnt better than Uncharted 2's... so people got mad about that.
Aside from The Witcher, Uncharted is by far my favorite franchise. Please don't take a year to complete UC4, I really do think you'll enjoy it as it adresses some of the issues you had with UC3. Love the review, really feel like going back and playing through them all again :|
the magic think was VERY real in uncharted 1 and 2. zombies from a cursed mummy and immortal monsters from the tree of life. there were only hallucinations in uncharted 3 but there is no reason to believe that the evil genie thing they mentioned in this one wasn't real. It's just that it never got unsealed and we never got to see it.
Yeah, never liked them myself. One example for me is Batman: Arkham Origins. I've collected every trophy in the game except the ones you get in multiplayer mode
Jirard, "set piece" does not mean "setting" or "environment - it's a specific term that refers to a major action scene. Like, the alien invasion at the end of Avengers or the battle with Ganon on the ruins of Hyrule Castle at the end of Ocarina of Time. It doesn't deal strictly with the environment, but the drama, plot, and action occurring within it as well.
Uncharted 4 is a masterpiece, I'm so sad the franchise is over, I really do feel like they could've continued it without ruining it. I already miss it. Personally I'd rank them 4>2>3>1 though. I do agree with Jirard that UC3 felt similar to 2, but I don't consider that to be a bad thing really.
Eh, I found Uncharted 4 to be one of hte weaker games in the series. For me it is 3 > 2 > 4 > 1. I don't know why, but the story wasn't as interesting to me as in Uncharted 3 or 2.

Uncharted 4 Completionist review, Jirard? I love your reviews of the series so far, as I also did platinum the original trilogy and I am excited to soon start Uncharted 4!
This is probably your best review you've done on here in my opinion. I say that coming from someone who LOVED Uncharted 3 and played a couple hundred hours of it. The criticisms of it feeling same-y throughout are on point. U4 is definitely more varied when they actually give you combat scenarios all 4 times in the game.
this is one of my favorite shows i'll be so sad when he burns out and stops. it's already inhuman this is like ep 250 something. keep up the crazy work!
Just speaking for myself, I think Uncharted 3 Drake's Deception is the best out of the Uncharted franchise. I love the story ,the gameplay, and the graphic are nearly breath taking. If you do Uncharted 4 next year the only thing that you will despise is the multiplayer, If you think Uncharted 3 looks amazing, Uncharted 4 makes it look and feel like the game is actually in the real world.
I think all 3 of them aren't very good in general. Jump shit, shoot shit, solve a puzzle maybe 3 times in each game, jump shoot, jump, shoot, listen to a boring as hell story, that is basic as fuck. The 3rd was the best, but the 2nd game had a ending which was "Oh yea, it isn't real.... So yea!" Series is way over rated. I'd give the 1st game a 6, 2nd game a 2 (fucking hated that ending) and the 3rd game gets a 6.5.
You should take on DOOM(2016) next. It does have multiplayer achievments, but they're VERY reasonable. Also the campaign is awesome and fun to complete. It would be a nice break for you. And if not you should play the Megaman Battle Network series, it's fairly easy too. Or even better, play golden sun.
So, you do 3 of the Uncharted games all within the span nearly two years, but haven't continued reviewing the Metal Gear games for nearly 4? Come on Mr. Completionist! Let's see that Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty Review. Please!
Jarvis Ritch Again I was joking. There used to be a running gag on this channel where his fans would bug him to complete games he said was gonna complete but didn't yet even after he completed those games like the Mario All Stars Pack
I want to like these videos, but I feel Jirard complains too much about how difficult it was to complete the games and then I kinda lose interest at that point. Still, I'm aware I might be a minority for thinking that, and if you enjoy the current format then more power to you.
HOLY HELL this video was rushed. Sorry Jirard, I'm a fan, but I gotta call you out on a few things. #1, you completely forgot to talk about in game events in scenes where you button mash. #2, the new enemy types. Wakes up in Saw "You can either play and complete these multiplayer achievements or.... bite your fingers off" -watches him bite his fingers off without a second thought- "Oh".....
Devon G That's a huge can of worms. They had a sour time playing it because they didn't take their time to actually learn how to control Trico, preferring to complain that he doesn't do things immediately even though they didn't put in the time to train him like you're supposed to. It's on the Beard Bros. channel if you're interested, but it becomes miserable early on because all they do is complain and blame the game when THEY were the ones that screwed up. I'm not saying it's not their fault, but the section of the game where things really went wrong doesn't really lend itself well to a let's play format unless you're doing it offscreen. THEN they started making passive-aggressive comments about how the viewership of the episodes were quickly declining, and maybe they blamed that on the game too? Maybe not, I don't remember. The decline likely had more to do with the incredible frustration I saw in the comments from people constantly giving them advice that went unheeded and telling them to stop blaming the game for their screwups (though as I recall, it was mostly Jirard playing with Alex offering calming words). tldr; it's dumb.
I found it super weird either way. Like, whether or not you think The Last Guardian is good or not, is it a "triple A" game??? Like, in any respect? Especially The Last Guardian (over something like, say, Shadow of the Colossus) which was criticized for looking like a remastered PS2 game because of how damn long it was in development. "Forgettable" I don't have a contention with, even if I might not agree, But "triple-A"?
See they actually told Jirard to put it at the beginning of the video, so he figured he'd troll them and put it at the end, HA serves those corperate madmen right!
That windows 10 analogy was on point and also fucking hilarious =D On a completely unrelated note, I both admire and pity your dedication to full-on completion of games like this. It's obvious that the tedium and frustration of 100%'ing the game has taken its toll on you. Your points on it being the same game with a few tweaks and a new paint job are spoken with dissatisfaction, while the majority of us are getting exactly what we wanted: more of what makes Uncharted Uncharted. Drake's Deception is possibly my favorite of the series for this very reason. It's not so much a threequel, but more like the third iteration in a formula for awesomeness. It's hard to watch you fall in love, and then gradually detest some of these great works. Your Undertale video comes to mind. After the 3rd or 4th Assassin's Creed game I decided to rethink my own completionist mindset when I start up a new game. It has been a difficult instinct to overcome, but I've found many modern games to be much more enjoyable this (mainstream/casually oriented) way. The sense of accomplishment is just not worth the aftertaste to me. Thank you for your sacrifice. =)
I'm loving the bigger sense of mystery in the beginning of episodes nowadays it's great how we don't know it's rating until it's over now great job jirard
airdragon50 really though - this show lost it's charm, and now it's the textbook definition of "playing it safe". Humour grew stale, presentation became generic (those horrible new animations and generic " retro" soundtrack), and Jirard barely talks about anything in depth - he's doing just what's required to keep his fans satisfied. He has talked about this show being his job, and being stressful af - it's really showing.
His partnership with nintendo means any videos about one of their game cannot be too negative or else there will not be exclusive Miyamoto interviews anymore. It doesn't mean he will lie about the game, but he probably will sweep some part of the criticisim he would like to talk about under the rug. But when it's not about a nintendo game, it's still a very solid show.
I miss the Struggle. The Completionist just isn't the same without that tinge of Wild Arms right at the end. I'm glad the Final Boss section is gone, though.
Uncharted 3 on the Nathan Drake Collection is actually the buggiest port by a wide margin. I remember that in the middle of the sandstorm battle right outside Ubar, my controller disconnected, and refused to reconnect. The same thing happened to my other controller when I tried to connect it. I had to restart the console, and redo the fight. I've also had numerous crashes, collision bugs, and at least one occasion where attempting to aim resulted in Drake repeatedly pumping his fist.
+RandomChanceZ Few things 1. The puzzles are mind-numbingly easy, mostly because Drake's notebook/map solves it for him. 2. As Wobbey said: the shooting is pretty generic. 3. The car chases are very heavily scripted, constantly creating a sense of false tension on repeated playthroughs.
Sounds amazing in theory, but the way they implemented it isn't all the fun to play. It all looks awesome when watching it, but playing it is mediocre. If it weren't for the interesting story and fantastic characters Uncharted would be easily written off as a mediocre game.
It depends on how you view it. Uncharted has always felt like this generation's answer to the pick-up-and-play platformers of yesterday, with semi-open areas for third person shooting segments. It's pretty simplistic, but it pulls it off perfectly. The puzzles are more of a way of progressing the story than a gameplay mechanic, and the set pieces help pull the action along in the same way a platformer would.
Nice one! Shame about the scare with progression deletion... Can't imagine the reaction to that :S Also nice to finally see a Blue Apron meal being cooked, hadn't seen their box or their contents yet so thanks for that :)
Just wanna say THANK YOU for not making this competition require a Facebook account: that would have instantly locked me out, so I appreciate you making a more open submission system.
“Where the supernatural thing might be real but it turns out it’s not and it’s in the last 2 games”? Someone’s memory isn’t the greatest cuz that’s only UNCHARTED 3, the last 2 had the supernatural turn out to BE REAL (first one being the mutant zombies and the second being the yetis that turned out to be big purple guys (so still supernatural) and the tree of life that can heal all wounds and make you near immortal. What does that just happen to you on a regular basis?
Jirard: "I would play 'Uncharted' in order because of story in order." Also Jirard: Doesn't notify that he tried/completed "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End"
I have a question Jirard. I have a game I want to complete. What do you consider completing the game? Get all the achievements? Unlock all the secrets? etc
Just wanted to say, your new intro is fantastic. I get hyped every time. Love your work, I've been watching for years and I have no intention of stopping.
I think that the problem with Uncharted 3 is that Drake isn't really Drake, but more that he's what people who don't play Uncharted think Drake is. Yes Nate is cocky and roguish, but he's also a person with flaws. If you look at his expression in Uncharted 3 during shoot-outs it's usually angry yet confident. Rewind to Uncharted 1 and 2, yea he's arrogant but when he's dipped in cover and low on health you can see genuine worry in his face as he gets ready to pop out of cover again. It's a good balance in the previous games between worry and haughty, in 3 it's like he knows the game can't kill him yet.
I prefer Elena personally, She has more character development, and has been by drake's side for a while. She feels more like a second main character, whilst Chloe feels like a side character.
Uncharted 3 was the first one in the game series that I played because I didn´t own a PS3 before. After finishing 3 I just had to get the ones before this, playing 2 and then 1. It was odd, playing the series in reverse order but I still loved the games so much that I was totally hyped for 4. Uncharted is definately one of my most favourite game franchises, even if it follows a formula to some degree but no game is flawless. Still get goosebumps every time I hear the main theme.
Not really about the video, but I just wanted to say, your sponsor Blue Apron looks awesome, and something I actually would use! Love your channel! Keep it up. Proud of you.
Ohhhhhh Jirad you are gonna have a real fun time with Uncharted 4. What I mean is that, that game is freaking amazing and that there is multiplayer and it's a real hassle.

It has been a difficult instinct to overcome, but I've found many modern games to be much more enjoyable this (mainstream/casually oriented) way.
The sense of accomplishment is just not worth the aftertaste to me. Thank you for your sacrifice. =)
Who else thinks he should play Dragon Ball Xenoverse, or Xenoverse 2?
UNCHARTED 4!!! DO IT PLEASE!!!
Not a huge fan of the series, but I felt UC3 was painful to play and was just not fun. UC1 and UC2 were better.
sbn4 no uc3 was a charm to play for me
I'm loving the bigger sense of mystery in the beginning of episodes nowadays it's great how we don't know it's rating until it's over now great job jirard
Cringe at Blue Apron plug.

cringe or not, blue aprons pretty legit if youre single and cant cook lol
Uncharted 3 was the first uncharted game I played. It’s a masterpiece it’s Indiana Jones the Game
this show gets progressively worse with each year.
airdragon50 really though - this show lost it's charm, and now it's the textbook definition of "playing it safe". Humour grew stale, presentation became generic (those horrible new animations and generic " retro" soundtrack), and Jirard barely talks about anything in depth - he's doing just what's required to keep his fans satisfied. He has talked about this show being his job, and being stressful af - it's really showing.
Then don't watch. Your view makes more of a difference than a random comment within hundred that he might never see.,
Tabby he is allowed to have his own opinion
I always found Uncharted to be a pretty generic 3rd person shooter. I do enjoy the story, but I can never get through the boring gameplay.
+RandomChanceZ Few things
1. The puzzles are mind-numbingly easy, mostly because Drake's notebook/map solves it for him.
2. As Wobbey said: the shooting is pretty generic.
3. The car chases are very heavily scripted, constantly creating a sense of false tension on repeated playthroughs.
RandomChanceZ not whats in the game. the way the game plays
Very Well said man! Thats totally true and i loved all 4 uncharted games!
Nice one! Shame about the scare with progression deletion... Can't imagine the reaction to that :S
Also nice to finally see a Blue Apron meal being cooked, hadn't seen their box or their contents yet so thanks for that :)
Will this comment rival the top comment?
Parazail I will try to help you on your quest.
Parazail yes, yes it will
Good luck. You'll need it
Parazail ILL HELP YOU MAN!!!!!
I FEEL THE POWER
Just wanna say THANK YOU for not making this competition require a Facebook account: that would have instantly locked me out, so I appreciate you making a more open submission system.
As a young adult who lives alone and can't cook, that blue apron thingy kinda just saved me lol, thanks Jirard
OMG the cooking mama music during the blue apron segment! You should complete a cooking mama game one day!
Surprised you didn't give Blue Point any mention for the amazing job they did with the PS4 port.
"I'm bad at cooking, let's go!"
-Jirard 2017
There are few things I hate in this world more than the shotgun guy in U3
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR SO LONG!
God I love Uncharted
Normal Sully: I'm too old for this shit
Donut Sully: I'm too fat for this shit
Just beat the first 3 this week. Ready to start 4 this weekend.
This story as a whole was so amazing, I got "Sic Parvis Magna" Tattooed on my back.
Jirard: "I would play 'Uncharted' in order because of story in order."
Also Jirard: Doesn't notify that he tried/completed "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End"
I have a question Jirard. I have a game I want to complete. What do you consider completing the game? Get all the achievements? Unlock all the secrets? etc
Jirard is looking freeesh in this video! I dig the groomed look.
S/out to the crazy Wii menu remix playing during the similarly crazy cooking ad. Nice.
I prefer Elena personally, She has more character development, and has been by drake's side for a while. She feels more like a second main character, whilst Chloe feels like a side character.
Been watching your videos for a while and I have to say that is by far the best intro yet!! That dbz transformation to beardman! Perfect! Keep it up!!
I asked, you delivered! Awesome to see this happening!
Ohhhhhh Jirad you are gonna have a real fun time with Uncharted 4. What I mean is that, that game is freaking amazing and that there is multiplayer and it's a real hassle.
seriously loving the new intro man
