    These interviews with his brother are true treasures.
    With regard to Eddie’s appearance, he had suffered from chronic avascular necrosis and diagnosed in 1995 which has been known to stem from alcoholism. In subsequent interviews, he was candid about his affinity for the booze and cocaine combo. He stated that he used them in private to work, “the blow keeps you awake and the alcohol lowers your inhibitions.”
    While we all are saddened by his early departure, the world is eternally grateful for the massive mark he made on the future history of music. He lived his life in the manner he wanted, loved his family and friends, and will be forever loved. What a wonderful life to have lived!

    • @mackydog99
      @mackydog99 3 роки тому +9

      Well spoken. He's pretty chill naturally but if and when you add certain ingredients, for example, ALCOHOL AND COCAIN.....one might (unfortunately I know)find themselves in a different place mentally, emotionally, and physically. Some of the best have succumbed to various combinations of stimulants in their lives and careers and paid the price to one degree or another. All Eddie knew was music and so a number of people who he had contact with were probably not the best choice for him. Such is life on the big stage. He certainly doesn't appear to have a big head regarding their success though. Gene Simmons once said that you play what the boss tells you to play. That when you're up on stage (whatever stage you're on in life)and you think you're in control, you need to learn how to say...would you like fries with that! Pretty profound statement coming from the tongue! 😝

      I guess that are you critique people out there are now doctors,right ? How the F do you know what the person is all about? You are just basing it on your own opinion. Unless you are a md,his doctor and know he records,keep assuming what you think you know but Don t know at all. Even if you base the chronic of diseases on here. Don t come on the end after bashing him and say oh rest in peace. The main thing that u post is respect and that's the most important thing ,not facts that you think are true but not. King Ed is a great guitarist that made other musicians the path because if it was not for him, I don t think music would survive because he opened it up for all in 1977/78.

      What Hagar's fans don't understand is the worst what Ed did was to himself . Ed had no-one to blame for his habits of chemicals or alcohol but himself . If what he allegedly did with Mike was so bad , then Mike should have left if he didn't like getting any royalties since the 1984 album . Ed did write all the instruments himself since 1984 . That's when he had to live with becoming a sessions player . And there's too many lies from Sam . And Sam said it himself that he quit . He wasn't tricked to quit , he has his big mouth and himself to blame for that . Whatever happened Al and Ed kept out of the public because it's personal . Wether you're for or against the Halen Bros it's NOT YOUR BUSINESS . I'll say that again wether you're for or against the Halen Bros ITS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS . THATS WHAT REALLY TAKING THE HIGH ROAD MEANS . THEY WERE BIG BOYS BY NOT WRITING A BOOK OF LIES AND BITCH ABOUT IT TO THIS DAY .

Roth himself he had standards and wouldn't open for Motley Crue again NEVER open for a younger band . Ex-wife #2 would . @@akfreed6949No 2nd version of a mega band will ever outdo the years of grassroots touring and selling (and even if they do, the purist fans will still prefer the original). So saying Van Halen Hagar version wasn’t as successful is not really the point. Ed and Al lost DLR and needed someone. There wasn’t an option to go back. If you want to compare history 1 to history 2, go right ahead. It isn’t the point. Ed and Al ran off Hagar. They put out their worst album after that and a memory lane record with DLR who they clearly hated. If you have a problem with Hagar, no worries here. But the facts of the situation clearly show the Van Halen brothers ruined their best chance to keep VH going. They always got their way in their band. They wanted Hagar gone and they got it.

      I know the comedians your talking about. It’s no one worth mentioning as it’s not a huge name to most but I remember the era you spoke of. If people look hard enough they can hear the comedian speak of that era. Unless it was literally just a couple of years ago and not a decade ago, but all of eddies interview are great. I do believe the family are believers, Valerie raised Wolf and I think Alex and Eddie were raised with a certain faith. Personal demons aside, we all have them, it’s great to see the humanity of the two brothers and you can tell in this era Eddie was in a place of heavy substance use and decades of habits and thankfully was sober in the final ten plus years or more or so of his life before he passed, but you can tell areas where Eddie begins to get defensive when he says “it’s not just me, it was all of us” and Alex comforts him and the interview moves on. But I just will always love the memories and the music and all of it.
      Oddly enough, or not, it’s kind of crazy, the last live concert I saw before everything got cancelled from the pandemic was seeing DLR perform Van Halen music LIVE.
      I count that as a blessing and an interesting weird synchronicity that one of my musical heroes EVH passing that brought light to my life and the music they all creative saved my spirit. RIP Eddie Van Halen, peace and love to you all, the family the bands the fans alike!

    Eddie, (AND Alex and Michael and Dave and Sam, and Wolf), so grateful for you and your music. Shared much of this in a response so don’t mean to paste. But this was a wonderful interview review I had seen before. Captured during a time when the band and Eddie was at its most uncertain. -Personal demons aside, we all have them, it’s great to see the humanity of the two brothers and you can tell in this era Eddie was in a place of heavy substance use and decades of habits and thankfully was sober in the final ten plus years or more or so of his life before he passed, but you can tell areas where Eddie begins to get defensive when he says “it’s not just me, it was all of us” and Alex comforts him and the interview moves on.

      @@knightfall9394 Man, sad I didn´t see your comment before. Well... Look. Tons of outstanding artists out there playing on subways or small bars. Why? They don´t know how to sell themselves well. The name of the band was Mammot. Who the hell would be proud of being a fan of a band which name sounds like a prehistoric elephant? Dave came in, and was like: "duuude, your last name is awesome sounding and looking, be Van Halen, fools!! Then the brothers were like: "let´s make these overcomplicated, gloomy, deep songs with layers upon layers of "genius"". Dave was like "the hell with that! Let´s make simple songs about girls and parties and booze, things that people can dance to, groovy, happy stuff!" They went with it and proved Dave right. Like man, there are tons of people that are more talented than Mrbeast, for example, but they don´t make more than 2000 subs. Like it or not, you have to develop a brand, a character before you develop an artists. Dave was good at that, the difference between Mammot playing gloomy, deep songs in rotten bars vs Van fuc##ing Halen playing stadiums!!! I´d like to say "dude, with your talent you will make it far in life, keep trying" and all of this self help garbage. But no, real life doesn´t work like that, you gotta become a good seller first and Roth was just that.

    Every Van Halen fan loves fair warning. If I can only have one of their albums that would be it.

    Best Song in my Opinion by Van Halen is "Mean Street" and it's sad cause a lot of people never heard it!

    Cheap talk, when you consider they never did a record again after this. Failed because they never had a songwriter again, like Sammy said.
