Love the Monarch Spur RV park!!! They gave me my hitch from Collegiate East to Collegiate West so I could get my resupply box!! Great stop for a shower and laundry
I hope that place becomes a thru hiker destination. It’s in a great spot. They could easily get their store full enough to resupply and most would probably rather not go into town if they can help it.
Hey Moonjuice! I'm really enjoying watching your videos and re-visiting all the scenery and experiences I had just a day or so behind you... Thanks so much for making these. See you on the final day 😉
Really enjoyed these videos. As a guy that is roughly your age(I am 57) I so badly need to do this but not sure I will have the opportunity ever. Thanks for sharing and keeping hope alive for some of us.
Glad you enjoyed them! Man, it would be worth spending even a week out there in the San Juans. You don’t have to do the whole thing to have an amazing time. If your fit enough, maybe just pick a 5-7 day stretch. If you can get up in the alpine, you’ll never regret whatever sacrifices you have to make to experience it.
Monarch Spur RV Park is awesome with great hosts. If you call them from the TH they will pick you up so you don’t have to do that no-edge road walk. Have a great hike!
Really enjoy watching your CT thru hike. You have the perfect balance of talking and hiking scenery, getting me motivated to at least section hike a few parts!
Great video! I gotta be honest, the east collegiate hasn't impressed me in people's videos. It's not ugly, but damn, the west is unreal. When I do the trail again, I will probably go east just to get that experience, but damn, the west is freaking incredible! Thanks for sharing. You have a great personality. I enjoyed your AZT videos as well! 🤘🕓
I hear you… I actually planned to hit the West but all the lingering snow in early June made it a pretty easy decision to go East and avoid the added difficulty. I’m definitely going to get back and hike the CW sooner or later. Everything above the tree line was my favorite!
Awesome! Good luck, it’s an amazing trail. The bugs do suck, but I found a lotion that worked so much better than spray! 3M SRL-12 Ultrathon Insect Repellent Lotion. You can get it on Amazon. 👍
Oh man, you were moving! If I do it again, I might slow down even more and take a few more zeros. Hanging with hikers in Lake City was so much fun, I could have spent a few days there for sure.
I'm enjoying your videos. I hiked half the CT IN 2021. Where do you get the music for these? I enjoy the acoustic classic rock vibe. It works well with the scenery.
Thanks! I absolutely loved the CT. Especially the San Juan’s, parts 3&4. So beautiful! That music is from this guy, he’s fantastic! youtube.com/@KfirOchaion?si=mpmW4VrcQTFd-8j5
That’s a GoPro Hero 11. I’ve got the latest iPhone now, which would be useful to capture some of this amazing scenery! Have fun on the CT, it’s absolutely incredible in every way.
Good question! Initially, I was planning to do the West route, but even in late June, it was barely passable and most CDT’rs were bailing due to the deep snow. Even with ice axes and micro spikes. I decided early to go East, where there was much less snow being reported, no need to make it any harder! Of course, I’m definitely going back to do the West route some day.

i have loved every single song you have chosen to have playing, good musical taste!
Nice!!! Yeah man, I’m not sure I could trust anyone who doesn’t like these tunes! 😎

Hey Phil! I thought you’d enjoy these, you must recognize everything! See you on the last day, lol
Gorgeous video my friend. This looks amazing!
Thank you! Cheers!

@@MoonJuiceHikes I don't blame you. I hit tons of snow on the AT...it sucked!!!
Awesome video! Thanks!!!
Glad you liked it!
Nice part 3! Waiting for the special guests in part 4.
Coming soon! lol
Great video! I start hiking the CT August 20th. Good to see you are wearing shorts, heard the flies are terrible. You are CRUSHING miles!

Hearing day 17. I hiked the CT in 2012 in 17 days. Still remember saying “day 17” to myself and only having 23 miles to get to Durango.

Great video! Can't wait to do this trail soon! What cameras did you use to video this?

Great part 3! What was your reason for taking the east instead of the west route?

@@MoonJuiceHikes Yes. I heard it was a bit rough at Lake Ann Pass.
Mount Community College...lol
