Camped at 12000ft elevation in Colorado. It was AMAZING, words can't describe how it is up that high. Oxygen is noticeably lower up there lol. My whole crew was huffing and puffing just doing light work. Core memories though, can't express that enough.
Yeah it can be incredible. Some people can get headaches though, so its wise for out of staters to be prepared to leave or have a little bottle of oxygen if needed.
you know, of all this awesome video, the part that I relate most too right now is just wanting to go home and take a break after a big trip. It's nice to hear you say so. There's really nothing wrong with that at all :)
You really do put out some of the highest quality videos...especially bc you do so many of them solo....keep it up, can't wait to see where the taco takes you
Goodness. This was an incredible video! As always, cinematography and voice over is spot on, Music seamlessly accentuates but never distracts, and the location... epic. Making me want to start planning my summer adventures! Thank you for sharing it with us!
I think that must be the saying everywhere, because I have heard it in all parts of the country. If you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes! Lol I am new to the channel and have heard you say it on multiple occasions! Love the trip videos! Amazing sun set!
Great video and campsite. You are a large part of my inspiration to buy a 4x4 and start exploring around with my boys. Can't wait for this summer to do our first offroad camp adventure. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to seeing your new rig.
As a Coloradan, its easy to find his location if you are geographically skilled enough to look for certain things… i found this spot simply from looking at the mountain ranges behind him… i know the ranges and i venture them often and i commend this! The last thing i want to see is trash in our favorite spots… which i see in almost EVERY commonly found camp/recreation areas that allow you to stay over night. The youth is to blame. They will find a spot, tell their friends and then its just a dump spot for teenagers/college kids or some rural workers who bum off the land.
@@Wooooptywoop would you be able to share? id love to check this out in my overlanding setup i am also a native here but i cant seem to find remote spots like this one
I understand, its hard, the senior girl dogs are some of the best. I miss our 2 older husky girls, taking care of them as they age becomes so much a part of our daily routine. It is hard watching them go through all that. Can't wait to see you guys and her@@IndependenceOverland
I really enjoy your videos and really hope you stay with Toyota. I’m excited to be seeing CO for the first time in three weeks! Never thought would see it live. Stoked. Also enjoyed your trip to the Ozarks. That’s where I am.
My one experience with mountain lion eyes in the dark ended up being a neighbor's dog laying in the woods watching me. Really had me going when it starting running towards us. lol. The brain is our own worst enemy.
Wow Tyler this spot is epic! I was tearing up a bit just watching it. When you were doing your narration with the view in the background it looked almost fake. I feel ya on the long trips that almost make you feel like you need a vacation from your vacation. Night time animal identification is always fun.
Some of the shots dont even look real and thats why Im glad im also in colorado cause i know it is. I am curious though, you mentioned the new vehicle will be able to stay out longer than the FJ, are there things you have found about your rig that kind of hold you back versus having like a tacoma or 4runner?
Yes, the Fj is just small. My trips have gotten bigger. If I didn’t have a dog taking up 2/3 of the rear seat area, I would be a little better off but the rear doors aren’t the greatest for accessing things. I need more access to my camera gear. I don’t want switching camera lenses to be as big of a hassle as it currently is. I’ve got stuff piled on top of my pelican that holds the camera gear. A new truck will allow more water, which will allow for nice showers out in BFE. That’s a big one. Having a long hot shower can make a huge difference and I just don’t have space for water. And a space I can sit and stand in that is separate from the cab. I love being in nature, but after a week or so the road you just don’t want to be over taken by bugs or blowing sand. Having at least some sort of space to be inside of that can be heated or cooled, and bug free, will leave space for a little bit of recharging. So it’s mostly just having more space for organization. I really don’t plan to carry much more than I do currently, I just don’t want everything piled up.
@@IndependenceOverland No that’s completely understandable and I get it. Sometimes a nice shower isn’t just to get clean it’s a morale boost as well. You also dont want to get rid of your adventure buddy just to have more room, it would make you both sad, Im sure blue loves going out and I know you love having her. Either way Im excited for the new truck, and Im glad i could learn a bit from you.
@@AsterixmGame yup, no way in hell Blue doesn’t come along. The very reason I wanted a double cab truck is so she can have some open air freedom for her last years with us.
What a gorgeous area indeed. I don't know why I am looking for this area on gps/maps, since I don't have a vehicle that I would take it on, but it's a fun little activity nonetheless.
@@IndependenceOverland It really is and I find it quite enjoyable honestly. I've found quite a few spots from UA-camrs. Not that I've been to a single one of them, and I just learned that apparently I didn't have them saved to a google earth account so I lost a lot of them, but still a fun exercise.
Exactly, just because there is a couple fire rings doesn’t mean it’s a designated camping spot. Who ever created those fire rings before you went off trail. Sorry, but looking at the meadow you had to drive on it clearly wasn’t a place anyone should have been in the first place.
