Thanks for this. Always my favorite sections of the hike. You brought up so many good memories for me! I don't usually watch videos of hikes, but I have enjoyed yours tremendously. Thanks!
So glad I stumbled upon your channel and this hike in particular. Your closing statement so perfectly sums up how I feel. I am running out of time and I need to take action sooner rather than later. Thanks.
Enjoyed all 5 Parts,, thanks for the videos. I've hiked with my wife and sons some of the CT section you showed in parts 1 and 2, Look forward to getting out to the San Juan's this summer.
Thanks man. The San Juan's are amazing. Loved that stretch! I'm hoping to get out and do the Collegiate West portion I missed at some point. I dream about it sometimes....:)
Superb travelogue! 😀 Well filmed , not too long episodes and informative style delivered with great joy 🙏 Looking forward to following in your footsteps in 25 Thanks for posting …
Wow, thanks Paul. Glad you’ve enjoyed them. I try my best to capture the feeling of being out there… doesn’t always translate well. Appreciate the kind words.🙏

Thank you, Moonjuice. You inspired me to go after my dream at age 70. My journey will begin July 23, 2024. Again, thank you for everything. Trail Name: “Dreamer”
I finished the CT on July 25th. Kept hearing your name out there. Thanks for updating the water sources, especially the shitty cow water. Much appreciated. -One Mile
Great video Moon Juice! These days through the San Juans were so awesome and I enjoyed revisiting them watching your film. It was such a pleasure to FINISH with you!
Thanks for taking us along on your journey! The boys and I were intrigued listening to your traveling/hiking stories. Thanks for stopping by and having a beer with us! -Boys from the IE.
Yo!!! You found the video! Best part of a long hike is stumbling upon a cold beer and good company at an unexpected time. Thanks again! It was cool meeting you guys.
So glad I stumbled on your CT video series! It was amazing!!!! I’m 54 a tried to do the CT on my mountain bike but only made it 2 segments, and a year later while in Breck, hiked section 7. You have re-inspired me to do the whole thing, probably hike and not bike it.
Glad you enjoyed it Todd. I highly recommend doing the whole thing, it was an amazing experience! I’m going to do it again someday, maybe try NOBO and hit the Collegiate West next time. Loved every day on the CT!
Great work on content, editing, music, and congratulations on the hike itself! I found this to be an inspirational series and am very thankful to you for putting it out here and sharing your story with all of us! I had not put the CT on my list, until now! I will now put this into my backpacking bucket list, cheers to you!
Hi MoonJuice! Congratulations on this achievement. The joy you experienced in completing the CT is revealed in your excellent videos. BTW, I think now you will keep your inReach securely attached to your backpack’s shoulder strap rather than loosely placed inside the pack.
Great video Brevan, or should I say 'mindreader'! Really enjoyed this series, and really looking forward to your next trip. Great speech at the end as well, agree with every word. Keep up the good work.
This was a lot of fun as I felt like I was along for the hike. A bit intimidated when I saw the elevation gains but you made it look easy. Glad the person who found your Garmin was honest. Greetings from Sierra Vista!
Yep, a beautiful one! The views. The trail friends and angles. The views. Then the poetic words of wisdom - Time - to make us think. Thanks MoonJuice for sharing your Colorado Trail hike with us.
Time well spent, you’re right about that brother. We tell all of our friends about meeting you for that beer. You’re a good man and I hope our paths cross again. Cheers and congrats on your safe journey. - Your brothers from the IE
What an amazing ending to an amazing trip on the CO Tr. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us. You did a wonderful job filming and editing. What great words of wisdom for all of us. Happy Trails...Winkle
My wife and I watched your you tube CT trip and it was great! We figure you are the most upbeat person we’ve seen on the trail. Keep it up you’re a great inspiration. Thanks
Thank you! When you get 30 days off for the first time in your adult life, and you’re hiking one of the most beautiful trails on the planet… hard not to be upbeat! 😊
Thank you for these awesome and inspiring videos. I've never hiked in the US but have done several long distance hikes in Europe. I'm hoping to do the CT summer 2025. I can see you got some company out there. Did you meet a lot of people or did you also have days completely alone?
I'm glad you enjoyed them! You are going to love this trail, especially if you catch a good weather window like I did! I had maybe 9 or 10 days hiking with other hikers and about 20 days hiking alone. I did usually see a person or two most days (section hikers, mountain bikers and even day hikers when you are close to a trailhead), but not every day. If you can manage, getting to see the sunrise on top of San Luis Peak was a highlight for sure. Above 14,000' in the states feels like the top of the world!
@@MoonJuiceHikes I'm sure I will. I've never hiked in the states before but it's definitely going to be an awesome experience. And very different from European trails. The part where you got up early to summit and watch that sunrise was really an emotional highlight of your videos. So beautiful!
Hey Chris! Man, CO was amazing. I can’t wait to get out to the San Juan’s again! I started on June 24th, so I was in the San Juan’s first week of July. BUT, as you know, last winter they got 489% more snow than normal. On a normal year, I might start a couple weeks sooner to get the same weather.
What an amazing adventure and inspiring trail documentary! Your videos always come out so well. Love all the commentary, thoughts, humor and personalities along the way. I can definitely relate to the hesitation on those sloped snow crossings. I did some backpacking in Grand Teton NP while you were out there and saw a lot of that coming down. Sketchy! Couldn't agree more with the closing message. Time well spent!
Thanks for sharing your journey! Your videos were awesome!! I plan on doing the CT the summer of 2025. What were the dates that you hiked it? I’m planning on a late July/early August start. Plan is to average 15 miles per day. I turn 60 this year!
I started on June 24th, thinking I'd aim for about 20 miles per day. This was a heavy snow year, so I could have started later, but any earlier would have been much more difficult with the snow traverses. I lucked out really, got perfect conditions the whole way!
Dude! I actually texted him and told him I got picked up for a free ride. He just said “Okay”. I don’t think there was actually a crying emoji there, but that’s what I would say I remember seeing if I had to testify in court. 😁
Hi MoonJuice, your videos have inspired to me to hike more seriously. Recently a hiked Humphreys Peak and the Grandview Trail in GCNP. I my now hike longer and sleep on trail. How do u keep your phone, InReach and other small electronics charged while on trail? Thx. Jim
Hey Jim! I take a 20,000 mAh battery bank from Anker. You can find these on Amazon for about $42. This is enough juice to charge your phone, GoPro, InReach etc for about 4 days. They also make a 10,000 mAh if you’re only going out for an overnighter and don’t need as much.
Thx. So after 4 days did u use a portable solar panel to charge the battery bank or were u able to find an ac outlet somewhere to charge it? @@MoonJuiceHikes
@@jeep4dirt for the CO trail, I planned a couple of 6 day stretches and one 7 day stretch, so I took two 20,000 banks. Never got close to running out of juice. I’ve never met long distance hikers who use a solar panel. They charge so incredibly slow, for the weight, it just makes more sense to bring more battery bank. Every time I go to town, I recharge all my electronics and fill up my batter banks.
Probably missed it; but how long of a delay between your hike and when posting a vid?? If mid August, weather seems amazing (no bugs really it seems too)
I started June 24th. The bugs weren’t bad most of the time, but there were a few places where they were thick! Had to skip a few water sources that were swarming and had a few early nights in my tent where I had to hide. Actually found the biting flies more annoying than the skeeters!
Never trust the triangular carabiner that comes with the inreach! Mine completely failed the first trip I took it on. Luckily was able to recover the device.
Gotta love the good vibes! What brand/mode shirt are you wearing? I like button ups but have hard time finding ones with fabrics that feel comfy and wick sweat and hold up well.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed them! I started June 24th, last year (which had record snowfall). If I could, I would have started July 1st and then could have taken the Collegiate West, which I hear is the better side of the loop. It was pretty deep with snow last year, so I had to take the less attractive Eastern side. It’s a gorgeous trail, have an amazing time!
What a great adventure, rhanks so much for sharing. Your outro really hits. Thanks for the perspective and reminder of what really matters.
Glad you enjoyed it! It really was one heck of an adventure.
Beautiful Journey of your CT hike. Thank you so much for sharing.
