- Nirvana - Big Long Now - LIVE! (audio only)
Available for the first time, here's the first every found recording of Nirvana performing "Big Long Now" live. Previous to this, there were only two other known recordings of this song... The studio version that is featured on the "Incesticide" LP and a 1988 rehearsal video that is featured on the "With The Lights Out" box set DVD. Unfortunately this recording cuts out after only a minute and a half.
Please support this artist. Buy their records and merchandise. If band members are still playing shows, go see them live!

Wow, wow, wow, so the rumors were true, they did play it live. Great work again, Mike!

hey Tom
I KNOW RIGHT THIS IS CRAZY THAT THE AUDIO WAS FOUND
@@Tomnedreb they need to update it now
Yeah 😎
Its been almost 20 years since I got into this community. Im almost crying... and its so much better than I thought it would have been live.
Welcome, noob :) Yeah, fingers crossed the rest shows up somehow!
I remembered that you really wanted this to be found!
@@markyvintage6066 I even asked Krist PERSONALLY about this! Ive been dreaming of this day for decades now. It didn't disappoint. Ive already listened to it about 20 times
@@JohnVullo yeah it’s awesome. I listened about 15 times now
I feel honored to have been there when the rehearsal version first released and we saw your reaction then, and seeing what you said here gets me kinda emotional too. If there’s one person this song is associated with, it’s you Vullo! Congrats.
They should have played this live more often.
Every show should have been a 1.5 hour version of this or this song 15 times
@@anytimecowboy they have other good songs u know. But yes, I would love to hear this song with Grohl on drums! Like on the Live & Loud concert would be sick
They seem like they hated that song.
"Kurt asked Rob Kader, an avid Nirvana fan who was along for the ride, to shout out the songs he wanted the band to play, which the band then played. One exception was "Big Long Now," which Rob requested at Jason's urging, but the band would not play. Krist replied to the request with, "We don't play that one anymore.""
That was at their concert at the Blue Gallery in June 10th, 1989: livenirvana.com/concerts/89/89-06-10.php
@@davidchez513 as for live performances, you're probably right. I don't think they hated the song though, because then they probably wouldn't have put it on inceticide later on.
i love the song but i can understand that they wouldn´t play this song live. it has a slightly sluggish, slowing down vibe and pulls down an aggressive set. only my speculation ;)
They played it at one of the K dorms shows that I saw, this might be it. I've talked about on my channel seeing them play it twice. Some people wouldn't believe me so thank you Mike and whoever had this to share. where i?
I enjoy your channel.
This song is a real treat to have. I hope this is a teaser and the completed version will be released.
Yep John. You're memory was correct. This was indeed from their second time playing at the K-dorm in February of 1989.
Damn, you're old. Kidding
@@MikesMusicArchive called it :)
Hey John, remember how legendary figures like John Lennon or Jim Morrison seemed growing up. Is it crazy to you that you essentially befriended someone who was not only famous, but someone who achieved a similar legend status?
such an underrated song it’s so cool
HOLY SHIT This is literally history right here, im so glad this has surfaced thank you to whoever for bringing the first ever live show recording to surface
I like the Incesticide album a lot and this song along with Aneurysm are two of his best songs on it! It’s the last track on the album and it’s brilliant! So trippy, trancelike and moody!
Jack Endino actually rescued this song! They forgot about it and told them they had an unreleased song.
Thanks Jack Endino!
I knew when I heard those two songs that he was a Genius! Who writes songs like this? Only Kurt Cobain, that’s who!
Thanks Kurt!
RIP
😎🎸👏🏻
hairspray queen probably my favorite on the album
Unfortunately this is almost an exact copy of a song called "sister europe" by the psychedelic furs. Kurt feared this song was to similar and for that reason did not release it on bleach and probably dismissed it and hardly played it live
@@slowlace5540 After listening to it, I must admit your right. Similar chords.
But I like Big Long Now better!
I don’t like The Furs singer or the lyrics about his sister.
I like Kurt’s vocals and lyrics better.
So Kurt wins!
@@slowlace5540 Funny that Foo Fighters actually covered that song a decade later :)
They found it!
Can't stop listening on repeat, this minute and a half is glorious.
Okay relax
@@Xxrocknrollgodnah this is good stuff, idk what you mean by 'relax'
Thank you 100000 times!!!
What a pity it cuts out in the chorus which is amazing... and we hear Kurt started the chorus greatly.
I think it's more of a teaser rather than just the recording cutting completely. Hopefully we will hear soon a full (or partially but more complete than the first AUD source) recording available.
@@davidchez513 , when?
I never thought I'd get to hear a live version of "Big Long Now" in my lifetime!! Thank you Mike!!
Woah I thought they never played this live
@Ferenc Kiss-H. stop trying to be a smart-ass.
@BeTheDeathOfMe no Nirvana expert or scholar could verify if the song had even been played more than once yet he says they played the song lots ‘before Bleach’.
@@vishkavishovski300 Hm, incorrect. ua-cam.com/video/P-RadlGyb0Q/v-deo.html
@@zwolfsmub5008 incorrect how? he states he saw them play it twice. Hardly ‘lots’ of times.
@@vishkavishovski300 Now you're just going off words, im sure the guy meant an unverifiable amount of time and thus he said lots of times. I can understand what u mean, but u know what the other guy means too, he doesnt mean it literally. Go hug it out
*Holy shit they actually played it live?! 🤯*
i love this song, can't believe this is the only known gig recording of it
We don't know for sure if it's the only. Someone very close to the band said that they played the song at least twice. This one being one of both times where they played Big Long Now.
Shit man. It never ceases to amaze me what new Nirvana stuff surfaces. This is awesome, I really hope the rest emerges at some point!!!
The last ten seconds are amazing. He puts his heart and soul into it
Indeed he does.
Awesome ❤️ Thank you so much for this gem, Mike!!
thank you for sharing! great to hear a live recording of this song
Every so often I come here to check this out. Always puts a smile on my face.
This is perfect for my bday. THANK YOU!
Happy Birth Day!
Thank you ❤️
Holy moly!!! I've got a big long, now.
Hahaha! Take this cookie
Leave it to you, Mike! Superb! Thanks a million!
Thanks, Mike!
I'd heard they played this like twice before. I just never thought we'd be able to hear it. Awesome!🤘
This is.... just amazing! I hope the full version surfaces before I die.
I always liked this song. I hardly listen to it; it’s one of the only nirvana songs that takes me back to being 14 again (1995) and I like that. I also love that it’s slow and stoned
One of my all time fav Nirvana songs
i remember listening to this song when he was still alive and admiring the art work on the cd jacket
Amazing! Thanks Mike!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Omg! Thank you very much for this buddy🤘
Wow! Thanks for sharing this!
Now we need the video!
Damn this is so rare how do people even get this it’s crazy lol great work 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
Thanks Mike!
Great stuff 🙌
Man, I found lots of Nirvana bootlegs in high school but I would have been floored to hear this. Surely we will wait another few years to hear that 2nd performance of this song, if it ever surfaces. I really hope it does.
Amazing
Wow. Finally!
Espectacular ese trozo de audio... tremendo. Tema💪💪💪
Back at it again Mike!
Omg never ever did I think I’d hear this live 😮
what a happy piece of music
Very rare. Thus channel was the first place I heard sifting live. So very rare.
thx very much.
Increíble thank you mike for the first time other version
never seen before this photo of Kurt fitting Stallone's "Cobra" sunglasses
Genial, hace mucho tiempo no la escuchaba. Gracias.
Awesome
I am so fucking Happy!!!! Thank you Mike!!!!
We want a full version.
OMG WTH? Thanks a lot for sharing!!!
Wooo! It's rare!!!
Damn wish it was complete it sounds awesome
Wow I thought it would be uploaded eventually and it was
Big long now live in concert. New for me dark and dense song
Holy shit!
he could just pull melodies and great songs out of his ass effortlessly
Its that kurt on the thumbnail ? Never seen this picture of him before..
Anyway, thanks for the uploads, finally can hear the live version of this song
Neither I. Kurt looks like Hector Lavoe.
Goosebumps
this is really cool, i honestly thought that any live recordings of this song must’ve been lost.
It's so hard to pick a favorite Nirvana song but......I really love this song.
Increíble!
35 years ago today 🎂🎂🎂
Always one of my favorites. Really fun to play and sing. I used to do an acoustic version that was fun too. Sounds crazy but it worked lol 🤘
Is this for real??? this is extraterrestrially amazing!
Maravilloso !!!
Wow-ee! Out of all the songs and recordings this had to cut-out.. dang lol i'll take it tho!
This was live at a dorm party in 1988
The Best Song
Holy grail
The guitar sound is haunting
this song has been played 2 or 3 times only its sad
HOLY SHIT IT EXISTS
Hermosooo
nice

(AMT #1 - It is rumored that the show was recorded on video.)
????????????????
unfortunatly the audio recording does not include big long now
@@S4freak999 yes but their are two other rumored recordings that may exist in addition to that one. I wonder if this is one of them that does contain it. maybe even a video!!
@@rebelyell1983x Dude a video would be so fucking great. I love how these Nirvana Recordings surface over time. incredible
@@S4freak999 Could be... check out this page for more info on this(?) concert: Notice the uncirculated recordings that may exist.
livenirvana.com/concerts/89/89-02-07.php
I dare to say this is more of an AUD (Audience) recording. Either *could* be part from the already available recording since I don't think the master is available or the rumored second AUD recording which I have hopes it surfaces at it fullness.
The AMT (video) while could be possible that exists, I doubt it would be completed. So best hope is that this is part of the second AUD that may be completed.
Edit: Seems like Mike already answered that this is part of the second AUD from this show.
The chorus is so bad ass.
Wow they did played it live
March 2021 and it has now 6000 views.
WHAT WHAT WHAT
Please GOD! Is it like ' oldage' in 1998 in 'Getright' and some years later someone will share the whole song? Why is it cut ?
Ohh well whatever never❤️
MIKE U FUCKING LEGEND WTF
Dat abrupt ending, doe.
Shame you can hear the tape start to cut out :(
You're a fucking legend Mike!
Holy mother of...
Please be more
I can feel a new album is coming =)
just imagine listening to a "Do Re Mi" version rumoured to be recorded !!!
Yes, Do Re Mi was rumored to be recorded on a *basement*. Do Re Mi seems like it was never recorded on a studio, so don't expect the quality to be commercial friendly if you are expecting a "new" album, which is a bit too much to say.
chad has been vindicated
When, Where?
Есть кто после Снайкса?)
д
да
So, can we show our faces now?
Wtf🤩
ITS TRUE!!!
Very Melvinsie.
#NirvanaForever
Kurt cobain is a god
Coming here after hear some rants from The Observer
I've heard some live version of this song but i can not remember where on which concert it was recorded
