***** Point well taken, but, those 2 albums were much more heavily produced. Also,we don't know how things would've/could've turned out if he stayed with them?
yeah in this song his drums are legit, he was a punk rock drummer and most early nirvana songs were basically punk rock rooted and it worked but I guess he wasn't very diverse for what nirvana was working towards and I don't see his drums being in any albums after bleach.... still a good drummer and never forgotten he was with nirvana at the start pretty much and until never mind ! still a great accomplishment for him ....... kinda feel bad for him tho he just got kicked out and they never talked to him again, kinda shitty ! how ever there was a live performance of school and Kurt asked if he wanted to come up and play it with them ... I dunno if he did or was even at the show for them to even ask but if he did thats pretty cool!
Chad Channing was a hippy and a very mediocre drummer-not to mention he was described as a "jazz drummer", pretty much the opposite of a "punk rock drummer". Dave Grohl was a monster who not only played in straight punk bands, hit the drums about 5x harder than Chad (which is what Kurt always wanted, and what obviously fit with the powerful sound they wanted), but also had any skill you wanted-there are videos of him playing John Bonham drum solos perfectly. Early Nirvana was much farther from punk than their other two major albums-just bc something is more underground doesn't make it more "punk". As a matter of fact, their most straight-ahead "punk" album was Nevermind by far. Bleach was much more influenced by metal and, I hate to even use the word, "grunge". Compare, for instance, "Negative Creep", probably the most hard-hitting and fastest song on Bleach, to songs like "Territorial Pissings", "Stay Away", "Breed" or even "pop-punk" songs like "Drain You" or "On A Plain" - all these songs from Nevermind, especially the first 3, are straight ahead, Kurt's version of punk and where it was by the 90's. "Territorial Pissings" was originally called "Punk Rock Song". Meanwhile "Negative Creep" featured down-tuned guitars, a growling, gruff vocal and palm-muted heavy power chords-essentially a metal song. Metal and punk are obviously VERY DIFFERENT. Even In Utero had a song like "Tourettes", just a blast of 2 minute punk rock insanity, no other description needs be made. And In Utero was barely produced at all.
He was undoubtedly amongst best rhythm guitarist ever, a dark prince of rock and inventor of moderate rock, pop, hc punk and metal all in one package. Unbelievable, for me best hard rocker ever. Fuking EMPEROR
Every raw recording has exceeded my expectations and literally beat every studio sound Nirvana has produced. I may be biased as a hardcore fan with a thing for raw production but I absolutely adore the gritty early sound of these three.
this band is really something...I've been listening to Nirvana since 1989, I am truly a fan, inox all their songs (though I did) but still discovering new stuffs every year !
This version is better than the Bleach version. Not because I heard it thousands of times less. It just is. It captures Nirvanas genuine culture in my lonely opinion.
beans is by far the best nirvana song and negative creep, big cheese, territorial pissings, and drain you and also where did you sleep last night and lake of fire are also really good although they are covers
Homer simpson when he teleports and screams a lot and while dodging cars. The Simpsons and Nirvana were around the same time and both were ahead of time since The Tracy Ullman show had Simpsons shorts and since Nirvana formed in 1987. Coincidence? Not really. LMAO!🤣
this is faster than the album version by just a hair (which makes this song sound better imo), but they makes me think maybe Jack wated them to elongate the pauses between the C5 to B5 chord change Cobain does during the verse
i used to have a tape around 1990, give or take a year, that was full of alt. takes & different versions. The front & back were completely full. I've later heard the same tape, but can't find it now? Word. Where is this from?
It never ends, it will always be
@@paosemsal2776It’s from an early demo, either from the Dale Demo (January 1988) or the Chad Demo (August? 1988)
1988 was a great year for kurt's vocals for sure
Maybe the best
his best scream: spank thru
Its always been good. What you talking about
@@mr.president9100 make a comparison between 1988 and 1992, two different voices. The best Kurt's vocals were in 1988-89, it's pretty objective
@@manuredrum4754it was just the style he played. Kurt was Kurt in bleach and unplugged.
I never get tired of these guys damn
Agreed, since I was 8
Chad Channing is a very gentle guy, and has aged only 1 year in 20 years.
I thought Channing's drumming was awsome
Tricklarock
Me too, but his style didn't match all Nirvana songs, in my opinion Dave was way better for Nevermind and In Utero...

this sounds great. i love the raw, unpolished sound. the way nirvana should be.
There's just more and more when you think you've heard it all
@normal_person_ig the fecal matter record is so good
When he said, "She eats glue"
I felt that

They played this as late as ‘91.

This is a great demo - one of my favorites.

"Almost had it!"
Bro, "almost?!" Cobain DESTROYED it this version is AMAZING.

1987-1991 was the peak of Kurt’s voice. The screams are incredible, unmatched imo
You seen "Live n Loud" ? He still had the goods in '93
True...but you can only scream like that for so long. It's very damaging to the vocal chords.
What about 93 on In Utero? Tourettes, Scentless Apprentice, Milk It, etc.
In utero his voice was incredible tho. But yeah I agree
Uhhh KC hit his vocal scream peak with Scentless Apprentice which was recorded in early 93.
I'd say this version was recorded alongside Love Buzz since this is half a step higher than the version that appeared on Bleach just like Love Buzz.
i think that kurt was one of few who has made music on a level way ahead of everybody else in music industry
I think the word you're looking for is timeless.
Now this is rare shit!!
best song of this 30 years.
So much better than the final version in my opinion
Wow Chad’s playing fenomenale fills
GO TO THE OFFICE
What a great version! Love it
sifting and blew and blandest was also recorded during this time
*Me making pizza*
BIG CHEESE GO TO THE OVEN!
thanks, keep em coming:)
sucks they already pulled the instrumental demo of milk it. I really want to hear it.
Brian Stutes if you use youtube to mp3 you can listen to it.
Thanks, never heard this version :D
One of my favorites on Bleach, no one talks about.
Nice! Thanks for posting!
This pic seems a podium of an haircut job competition
Lol
Screaming bloody brilliance.
I love this version
His voice. It’s something amazing.
oh my god the intro of this song is perfect
This Aggrivates me. If the drums in bleach soulded like this, people wouldn't say Chad sucks! #ChadChanningFTW
+ThatGTAFan720 Yeah, ppl shit on him really unnecessarily. Always felt bad for the dude cause he's a really solid and creative drummer.
Hector Osbert And that double basssss....Beautiful.
The drums in Bleach are pretty f'n good though?
Tricklarock
yes but they are too quiet.
ThatGTAFan720 Yeah, but they only spent around $600 to make that album, so that may have had an impact on the final product?
This version is better than the Bleach version. Not because I heard it thousands of times less. It just is. It captures Nirvanas genuine culture in my lonely opinion.
pure gold
I wonder if they recorded blandest right after this? Hehe!
I think you are right! They sound very similar, especially the drums.
Interesting
I'm pretty sure this song beat Blandest for the spot on Bleach
Good ear there dawg
This version is tuned half step down, ane albumversion standard. Both are great though.
