Thank you for this. I used this method on my own car (a Focus), and didn't even have to remove the mechanism --- in fact I could not remove the mechanism, since the window was stuck in the closed position, so I could not lower it to undo the glazing bolts and remove the regulator. Instead I removed the power connector and then the magnetic cover and pulled out the motor, just as in your video. The motor had seized, and after fixing it, I pushed it back in (taking hold of the window glass and pushing it down and up a bit helps to get the worm screw back in), reconnected the power, and --- to my amazement and by God's grace --- it worked! If I'd taken the car to a garage, they would have probably just destroyed the regulator (and quite possibly the glass, too) and fitted a new one: it would have cost a fortune. Thanks again!
This is what I was thinking of doing instead of buying a new one, we will see how it goes. my motor is a mess to take out with all the assembly. UPDATE:: I cleaned mine today the housing was rusted inside , rust everywhere! the armature was also rusty. Cleaned it and works like new!
Nice man! Mine's running really slow with hardly any power, not enough to slide the window. I'll check mine out and see if I have the same. How's it working now?

Currently fixing a 1991 Acura legend L sedan and the parts are $150 per window motor and this just saved me from dropping $600. I didn’t even know you could do this until I went to UA-cam.
@Auto Repair Guys I opened up my window and yes what you said is exactly what's wrong with mine. It's full of rust. I knew it was probably full of rust when I couldn't pull out the bolt easily.
Last sunday I briefly put 18V from a Bosch PSR screw machine battery on a what I thought was a dead window motor on my Trax, it came back to life immediately. Worked like a charm. 😅
That is an interesting idea but make sure to put the 18V to it momentarily only. If it doesn't drive it free right away, quit or you chance burning out the windings etc. which will render the motor unrepairable if you need to do a disassembly like our hosts demonstrate.
well done if i had figured that would be more easier to tackle for my audi tt mrk1 window motor if its possible. instead i brought two donor motors. this is more simple than cleaning a e scooter wheel hub lol great job guys
Be careful pulling the worm screw out. I broke the contacts on mine when I pulled it out. Definitely turn the copper spindle before pulling it out. My plastic collar with contacts broke because I didn’t pull it together.
Thank you 👌 In my case, - I unmount the rotor shaft, the round lid hidding the cog - clean the moisture in the nylon or plastic cog plus where it seats, there was some water and rust - dry it all with a clean rug - I didn't use any oil or liquid - regrease it, with some drops at the cog axle and where the cog seats. Plus 1 drop at the end of the rotor shaft and before the worm screw, I guess is where the rotor shaft seats on the plastic box. - and it work again. That save some hundred euros and some twist and turns with the family car, until next time. Brand dealers charged me 230€ for a new motor, no pieces at the car scrapping dealears around me, and the asian copies start from 100€ but I wasn't sure about the compliance as the pictures didn't look same same as the one I have. So it was a good solution.
An interesting idea pur forth by another commenter, Maarten Verheyen, is to put 18V to the motor contacts momentarily; this could break it free from it's stranglehold of rust and corrosion. If it doesn't drive it free right away, quit or you chance burning out the windings etc. which will render the motor unrepairable if you need to do a disassembly repair like our two hosts demonstrate. I don't know if it is possible but if it breaks free with the 18V push, you might be able to spray inside the motor if an access hole exists, or perhaps drill one(avoid getting metal cuttings inside by using a rare earth magnet). This could work if the motor is not too far gone, in which case it would have to be removed from the vehicle, and taken apart as demonstrated😅
I did the same repair and cleaning just today, some hours ago but unfortunately is doesn't work, I also put some grease in the rotor and when I connect it to the electrical plug in the car, the gear doesn't run but the rotor runs. May be is the gear broken? I wondering how to open the plastic part. It seems to be one piece whole. Don't wanna broke it, otherwais have to buy a new one. Any advice please?
I just did this today with a motor that wasn't working. It wasn't successful. Have you ever tried testing the resistance between the different components of the motor to make sure it's not an issue with the motor? Your video is more about the gearing getting locked,up from rust.
2k Accord. Right rear window. Using master switch panel you can hear a clicking sound at rear window. But using the rear window switch at the door. It makes no sound. Window will not move using any switches. New motor new switch/s
Hi my rear quater window won't open all I can hear is a click on that side everytime I try to open it what can it be? Btw the same switch controls the front which works
Hey brother, I really like your video. Make you can help me. I am desperately looking for a used Peugeot 2007 307cc window motor. I cant find anywhere, on in the UK and its backwards drivin g. Do u know where i can look?
@@missbuon If the motor turns when it's back in the assembly, but the gear that it is supposed to turn does not turn, it sounds like the gear/cog has missing teeth in it. Worm gear on motor is usually made out of metal, and the gear/cog it mates up to is usually plastic.
Wow, so when something does not work you take it apart and fix it instead of throwing it away and buying a new one. I'm going to guess you were not raised in America.
4:108:22 both times made me cringe a little. LOL. You have to screw it in. That worm drive is meant to hold without slipping. If you force it in or yank it out you run the risk of stripping those plastic gears.
7:00 Also you should have taken apart the gear housing. Taken the gear out and flushed out everything. 7:14 You should have taken a wire brush to the worm drive not just wiped it off with a towel.
