My passenger window wouldn’t roll up on my Lexus 350. I just put the back window, (known working) switch on my passenger window and BOOM! It works. My switch was bad. Saved me money…yay! Thank you for this video.
So... If you're not a car dude, don't have the knowledge to take the panel off, and you already know it's the switch and it's 8:00 p.m. and rain is forecast tonight: how do raise the window?
You dont have to cut cord if motor don't work. Just remove motor from window regulator and manually raise or lower window as needed with a wrench usually 3/8 drive work
THANK YOU! I've been looking for this all day. Cut the cord. THANK YOU! Seriously everything else assumes the motor works or the window is already up. THANK YOU!
Great videos from A1. For this problem, I wish he would've started with how to remove the door panel, I am pretty novice at this. I'll search for a video on how to do that and then proceed to watch and learn from this one. 👌
My 2012 suv passenger window was stuck down. Your video and others helped me remedy it. Mine was detached cable so, I propped it up-pvc and taped. Stop gap, but OK for now. Northeastern winter coming soon...39 degrees now Northeast USA. Thank you.
Neither front window would go back up, with a storm coming. Door locks inoperable. View the video...why yes, I did jump my 2009 Nissan Maxima just yesterday due to a run down battery. The process shown on the video worked perfectly! Thank you1
I have a 2006 Honda Civic and I tested the switch with the back window switch. It is doing the same thing. I switched the passenger front switch to the rear passenger side door and it worked both up and down. However, when I used the back passenger side door switch on my front passenger door it did not go down. I know it’s not a motor problem because I ordered another motor and window regulator assembly, and the same problem exists.
Thank you! I have the same problem on my Honda Civic Hybrid VIII: the window just goes down and not up! I procured a new window regulator and it had the sam problem. Now I will procure a new window switch. But my problem is: why, also from the driver side, it is not possible to raise the window? Is there some circuit trick inside the righ side switch that doesn't premit the motor to turn in the oposite direction?
If all of us automotive drivers would send letters to the manufacturers and tell them we want all metal parts in the window regulators and not cheap crappy plastic parts, maybe our constant problems with these crappy designed systems might improve. I've had 3 replacements in the last two years and had to spend quite a lot of money on repairs!
Nice thought but then greedy folks will.just say "that's how we keep the prices affordable" as if they don't charge too much already. Imagine if they did use quality...they'd cost twice as much (although it would be nice for an after market part supplier & manufacturer to make high quality replacements so we can buy 1 replacement part 1 time fix it once then be done for the life of the car) so good theory but fact of the matter, I think, is they just don't even care smh which is why they use special screws, bolts, fittings & other annoying stuff to make us take it to the dealership...or trust a shady mechanic or stress ourselves out in hopes we cause further damage. Good luck
Rather than cutting the regulator wire cable, I would disconnect the motor from the refulator gear and turn the regulator gear with a pair of needle nose pliers. That way, you would save almost 100 bucks not replacing the window regulator.
Great video man. Love all your stuff especially with the Power Probe. I do have a Power Probe question on this one though; you used a ground wire to ground to the car.. could you have used the Power Probe ground wire that comes out of the bottom instead of using a separate wire to ground it?. Was there a specific reason why you chose not to use the built-in ground system? Thx much
If all the wiring and motor is good and still doesn't work, on some cars you have to reprogram pcm or bcm to get it to work again. Some switches aren't connected directly to power but through some module first.

3:20 the blue connector. The one that goes to the motor. I have a 2006 Ridgeline I tried to see if it had any power I end ground and it doesn’t have any of that. I checked all the fuses and they’re all good. can you help me out? I’m not sure what it is.
I have done all that troubleshooting and the window keeps working but intermittently, one moment it does, one moment it does not. I removed the motor, responds fine forward and reverse. I moved the glass up and down without motor, moves smoothly. As soon as I bolt the motor it works a few times and then stops responding. I replaced the switch, same thing. And of course the only thing I have not replaced is the regulator pantograph because nobody has it new.
Also, tap on the switch that's not working. They wear out,or get dirty and wet. If you tap as you are trying to roll it up,it may ingage. In my case it did. Thanks
The switches for both the rear window and the passenger window. Both doors do open just the buttons for the boot door and the glass window for the passenger window too
What if the driver door master switch AND the rear door switch both lower the window, but neither will raise the window? It's highly unlikely that both switches went bad at the same time.
My passenger window won’t go up from either the driver or passenger switch… so which switch should I replace first? Or what could this be? P.s the motor works perfectly fine
What if we don’t have a power probe? Is there any other way to check if motor is working? My switch will not move window up or down but I don’t know if it faulty because I don’t know how to check if power is running to the motor
A little late now but I'll post for others. If the middle windows work but the fronts wont move using the drivers side controls, and the power mirrors don't work (if equipped) there is a high probability it is just the 10A M26 fuse. I'd suggest 1st step regardless would be swapping the horn fuse with the M26 and seeing if that works. Don't just go by visual fuse inspection. In terms of the motor, you can apply power directly from the battery to the motor to see if it works.

My drivers window 98 Camry wouldn’t go up. Replace the regulator and tested it to make sure the new one worked. Moved up and down until I put it all the way down. Seems like it got locked in place
i tried pulling up my window but it goes down instead when it when down it stopped working up and or down. what could be the problem? would it be my regulator assembly?
POWER PROB (12v contact ?)- My I ask going into your example between 1-2min mark you added "ground wire" got it....then a power probe. My 1st question ..if you set-up backwards will that damage the motor? 2nd question .. if without a power probe can you run a wire with 12Volts to that post (is it 12volts ?)? That is motor connector is #1-ground and the other post is #2-12volts. In other words that power probe is basically running 12volts to that other connector on the motor. I know my motor works because mechanic added "Cordless Tool Battery Pack" ran wires from the pack to that motor connector and window went up. He didn't know I was watching I looked away, then he said to me he would close the window in up position for $70 because he didn't have parts (switch). I have 1993 Isuzu Rodeo just forced into retirement last year with no income (social security soon). Most Grateful ..
My front passenger window won’t go up using the passenger AND driver side main switch’s. Would that rule out a switch probability and perhaps be a motor or regulator?
+Mike Chahal Thanks for watching! If it's not responding to either switch then the issue is probably going to be with the motor, regulator or wiring. A popular way to go is to replace the motor and regulator assembly as you cover almost all bases.

+Web Cityx Thank you for watching! Have you greased up the sides of the window tracks to make sure it is not just getting stuck? You can also crack open the door panel and observe the regulator in operation. That way you might be able to pick up on the issue. Other than that it could be electrical, but would not have any recommendation on a fix. We hope this helps! 1aauto.com
Web Cityx Did you happen to resolve the issue? I'm having the same issue with my passenger side window. Neither driver or passenger switch buttons work in the up position only in the down position. I have a 2016 dodge grand caravan and the driver side window switch , the lock and unlock isn’t working. It does roll down the passenger side. What could be wrong.
I have a 2006 ford territory sy, window will go down but not up. The motor will go up without the switch, but I have replaced the switch and still the same problem. Anyone have advice on what to check/replace next?
HELP!!!! Your videos are great. I love my 1997 4runner Ltd with 240k. I want keep it runner forever. Can you help me with one issue that I can't solve. My passenger door window only goes down but not up. I have replaced the window motor already but it is still having the same issue. I tried both driver and passenger side buttons, checked the fuse but they both can't bring the window up only down. Can you give me a few pointers in troubleshooting the issue. Thanks.
I know the window motor works because the window will raise up if I jump the motor terminals with power. It's not the window switch either since I tried another switch and it didnt resolve the issue.
Did either of you guys resolve this issue? Having the same issue. Replaced the motor, switch is suppling power but it won’t go up without some starting help, then it goes. I’m assuming the regulator? Since there’s not much else to check or replace
@@tonyd.4430 any word??
@@vanquishstorm any word on a fix? My cavalier does this and the motors been replaced a couple times.
Great video, thank you!
Can you lower window using same method?
Thanks
My passenger window will go down but won’t go up from the door switch or the switches on the driver side, could it still be a switch?
+Paxtrxck 090 We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
