I only recently found your videos. They are very entertaining. The production is absolutely superb. The audio is extremely perfect, I can hear clearly every word you say. The visual content is first class. I vote you get an Academy Award.
Tried a Beefeater breakfast today for the first time after watching your video. Thankfully our sausages weren't burnt and the food was great. Great value for the unlimited breakfast for £9.99!
Toby Carvery was terrific value and with two unusual tasty items. Personally I could not eat the cold items on offer at the second place (after a big breakfast) so TC is my winner.
I chose Beefeater in term of dinning table set-ups and most of the food item looks well prepared to my likings which are well done especially sausages and hash browns. Just want to say thanks for sharing video. From Northern California, USA.
Last 3 Toby’s we’ve had (and all at different locations) have been really poor. Kept giving them the benefit of the doubt but have not been back since. Once given a sundae spoon for a teaspoon as they’d run out and the YP for breakfast - apparently the machine had been broken for ages! 🧐 in all fairness that Toby’s looked spot on ❤
Agree. I like my sausages well done. Nothing worse than raw or pink meat in an under done sauasage. Given what goes in to them you shouldn’t be having under done sausages. It’s not a steak.
Well impressed the Toby buffet options, eaten there in past but not breakfast. Certainly make point try the breakfasts in future. The Beefeater was shockingly let down by those sausages. If it was cooked to order, I'd had to have complained as rest the breakfast looked good and decent value for money. I guess these hostelries are as good as the person cooking them. For this review Toby Inn would be the one I'd visit for breakfast. Enjoyed your video.
I’m not keen on breakfast buffet because many times when I’ve gone to the counter helped myself and some food items were cold! I prefer my breakfast served to me but we all have different preferences…but looking at the beefeater breakfast it looks much better and 2 of everything that’s good value £9-99p!
I do as well. I question anyone that like them undercooked - sausages are not steaks. You should not be having oink or semi raw meat in a cooked sausage. And I had that too many times and sent them back.
Great comparison video. The Toby pubs I've been to for breakfast are always heaving with kids. The serving area gets very messy very quickly, to the point that the mess puts me off my breakfast. I think I'd go with the Beefeater, and ask for replacement sausages if they were burnt.
I think you needed a bigger plate for the Toby carvery. It was a good price. The bacon needed more cooking, the Yorkshire pudding looked good and so did the egg and I thought the toast looked nice as well. I sometimes have chopped tomatoes for a change. On the Beefeater one I thought the hash browns looked nice but as you said the sausage was overdone which spoiled it and the tomato wasn't very appetising. It was also nice to chose the pastries and yoghurt for afters. I think I would go for the Toby carvery myself
1:41Another excellent video😊The Yorkshire pudding looked very appetising so did the hash the burnt sausages spoiled the Beefeater breakfast so Toby win it. though both looked super value for the prices
Only just discovered this superb channel. Brilliant content, really entertaining and enjoyable! I’m sure this has been asked before, but why don’t you ever put ketchup/brown sauce on your breakfast? Condiments put the top hat on a breakfast IMHO. Thank you!
I’m English and we always had a potatoe hash or breakfast potatoes for breakfast. Not sure when it became a ‘strange item’ as hash browns certainly were not a thing in Britain growing up (plus they look manufactured). But you are right when gran made breakfast hash or fried potatoes it was with left over mash or roast potatoes from dinner. After a day of infusing flavours they were often better than the night before.
Lovely vid. It looks a great breakfast from Toby. And the price was cracking for a buffet breakfast. Personally, I prefer tinned tomatoes then I sprinkle a bit salt on them which for me makes the taste so much better. Each to their own, right?
Toby was the winner for me. Great meal on the plate followed by pastries etc. However Toby and Beefeater are great value for money so I would be pleased to dine at either establishment.
Beefeater is conected to a hotel usual the premier inn so you would have acsses to a continental breakfast as well as for the toby it's not connected to a hotel we go to the toby for breakfast almost every Sunday we think its good value for money xx
Take potato hash any day. Much better than the corporate production line hash brown squares. Plus hash browns are not traditional - fried or hashed potatoes actually is. My gran from Yorkshire always made them with day old mash potatoes left Over with dripping in the pan for a crust.
Oh ~! This is a very good comparison 👏 👍 👌 😀 I'd love to have breakfast at those two chains !! I've been wanting to for a few years now !! My case will be vegetarian versions ! I love grilled tomatoes & mushrooms !! 😋Fried !? Really !? 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
I’ve never seen a Beefeater breakfast, it reminds me of Harvester breakfast buffet. I used to love having brekky there. You should try it if you haven’t already.
we need to note a few things the Toby is cheaper only due to missing items that beefeater do. the fruits and pasties etc. beefeater belong to a chain which includes brewers fayre. Yet Brewers have the items in the metal trays, you missed out that some places will cook other items not shown like scrambled egg. the Toby YP is there to fill you up. there is a downside to having the item cooked to order and that is wait time especially when the place is very busy. And if you were picking the items yourself out of the trays you would not have picked the sausage. or simply asked for better ones. so I wonder what happens if you pick a different Beefeater and put it against a brewers Fayre since both owned by the same chain. But I have to say that You should compare breakfast value for £10 and what you get vs other breakfast places since value and amount is all important nowadays
But you got juice, pastries, yoghurt etc free for only a pound extra! You should've sent the sausages back on a side plate and asked for them to be cooked again, and you could've made a sausage sandwich with the toast! 😊
If you have the chance to travel north on the A1 stop at the George Hotel in Stamford for breakfast.Very expensive but the best English break I have ever had.
really like the look of that youkshire pudding Ang that Ash ,bacon weeded Abit longer for me ...I've never been to a beefeater would love a video of there steaks in the future if possible ..there mushrooms looked great and the bacon was cooked Abit better
You need a stake plate, plus them ash browns need a bit more of a tan on them, plus the bacon needs a few more minutes. But it looks lovely. Filling. Think I'd rather have the Toby carvery breakfast.
I dont mind either fresh roasted or plum tinned, tomatoes, most cafes serve tinned tomatoes, but I find supermarket & Wetherspoons, shopping malls too..do a half fresh tomato. I wouldnt choose a Yorkshire pudding for breakfast & def not gravy lol Beefeater ruined it with the burnt sausages & crappy tomato but I dont think all would be like that you got unlucky & if it was me I would ask for different sausages/send back! The pastries with the spreads & the compote & yoghurt really adds some luxury but not if stale! Think I'll go with Beefeater on this one.
Tinned tomatoes on a breakfast is a no-no for me (far too much moisture on the plate making all the crispy items soggy), beans aren't quite as bad but prefer them in a separate bowl :-) Personally I prefer the look of the Beefeater one except for the overdone sausages!
I couldn't agree more tinned Toms are a great ingredient to have in the cupboard but not on Breakfast, but many places that do a fresh grilled Tom, blacken them on the outside but leave them hard sadly, although if tinned i just get beans.
Toby Carvery Breakfast is grim and this is due to experiencing it first hand however the Breakfast at beefeater looks so much better to me, not the best looking but as an unlimited breakfast is great. I wouldn’t mind trying it. I was at premiere Inn down at Worthing and the breakfast in there was fantastic for the money and beautifully cooked at the time. Not sure how he can choose Toby over Beefeater though just because of the sausage! Just request another couple that is not so much well done.
Well they both are sub par. So I would just pay for the cheapest place. The first place: foods just looked bland on plate. The hash browns were very undercooked. The Big Plus for special roll and hash with bacon added. The second place undercooked those eggs in my opinion. When you first showed them the white part was still runny. Maybe they cooked a little more while you tryied the rest of place first off. What I really liked is that they cooked it up fresh anyway you want it. I have not seen that ever offered before (all you can eat) fresh cooked in any combo for one price. I liked that there was some good items on the help yourself counters. The ham was thinner and overcooked sausage.
Whitbread, owners of Premier Inn (I noticed your Beefeater is next to one) have many different restaurant brands, apart from Beefeater the others I am familiar with personally, either when spending a night in a Premier, or simply going in for a meal including breakfast are Brewer’s Fayre, Thyme (think these are mostly inside the hotel rather than adjacent) although non-residents can eat there too and Table to Table. There are some other brands I don’t think I’ve visited so far. My experience is all Whitbread eateries offer decent food at reasonable prices, although some are certainly better than others, probably depending on when they were last refurbished or how good the local management and staff are. I haven’t eaten in many Toby Carveries (there aren’t many in Scotland, where I live, and none in my area), but I have occasionally eaten in one when down in England and have usually found them pretty decent and good value for money too. PS/ I’m always fascinated by your excellent comparison videos, I’ve watched most of them 😊😋 and often wonder if you eat both breakfasts or other meals on the same day, or on nearby dates 😉 and what your calorie intake and exercise regimen is so you can avoid becoming huger than you appear to be in your videos, ha ha 😂 - keep up the good work 👍😎.
The Toby breakfast was v good value, so was the Beefeater too. Think I'd have gone Beefeater, that weird Yorkshire pudding didn't look nice, nor did that cheese hash thing and both looked out of place. Replace these with black pudding and it's a win for Toby.
Looks great except for Yorkshire ,I wouldn't have Yorkshire on my breakfast tomatoes are good as not whole. They always used to be tomatoes like that but was not ash browns browns it was bubble and squeak..the other meal black pudding spoils it . Toby's the best .

BTW when are you going to compare a daai pai dong breakfast with an English breakfast ?
Where's he going to find one of those in England ? There's only 28 in the whole of Hong Kong, a city of 7.7 million (mostly ethnic Chinese) people?
