Great video however I choose to never say diaper as I wash up my Mother I’m caring for. I had to politely ask a nurse to please say briefs instead as it makes my mother feel like a child and stirs up emotions of her not being able to take care of herself. I try my all to bring dignity in what I do to care for my mother. Not judging others who refer to them as diapers I just don’t with my mother and if I’m to care for others, I won’t.
you are totally correct about preserving the dignity of the person who needs help...I am very upset that this video uses that term....it is Not ok....I hope others see this and stop using that word. Bless you.
@@Gamebreaker08 I was about to say the exact same thing 😩 Especially when you do it by yourself and trying to dodge the swings and kicks and keep them protected and try to change them 😅
I'm taking care of my mother in law ..so it was difficult for me to put the diaper...I'm glad I came across this vedio...it is helpful...thank you for the tutorial....❤❤❤
I wish you would show the method of rolling the paitent twords you for paitents that have no motor control at all. I had 8 years off practice doing this with my life late husband by myself and I would have caused injury to him if I would have rolled him away from me as well as to myself with the rolling away from me because he outweighted me by a good 37 lbs.
Ma'am I have taught Nursing for more than 20 years, and have been a nurse for more than 30 years, and adults to not wear DIAPERS! This is a dignity issue, they wear briefs, incontinent briefs, or incontinent garments, or Depends. These people deserve respect, babies wear diapers. Also, why call it a "mess," just call it what it is, BM or urine.
Nurse Bostick your point is well taken. I am practicing saying brief instead. I do wish you would acknowledge that this is good content, in spite of saying the d-word. For this family care giver, this demo is a god send.
Very often when I say to the patient “I’m going to change your brief” they look at me like they don’t know what I’m talking about. Then I tell them I’m going to change their diaper, then they understand. I was thought to say brief, but in the real world people think of briefs as underwear (fruit of the loom etc….)
Why are we so emotional about the words used instead of appreciating the content and knowledge. 99% of the world can easily co-relate the use of diapers ( adults as well as with children) rather than sticking with so-called medical jargon for dignity purposes.
actually looking for help for myself, how do you wait til your dry if you're always leaking? I don't have money for all these supplies and can not do laundry every day, don't even have correct products because I use what was donated. allergic to plastic. glad Canada has M>A>I>D> because this is basically my only choice now
They should be referred to as incontinent briefs, also you should always wash your hands first, before using hand sanitizer (C-Diff can be transmitted this way)
No way to live. If I even get close to needing diapers I have a rifle and know how to use it. I am 82 and just had prostate surgery 7 months ago. So far everything is good, but I had to have a catheter for a few months before the surgery, never again. It's one infection after another. There is just being alive and there is quality life. When the quality runs out it is time to leave this world. The doctors will do everything possible to keep you breathing as long as possible because they are making big bucks from your misery. Not for me. This country will not allow assisted suicide because there is a fortune to be made keeping people alive even if they are just a vegetable. It really is cruel and unusual punishment by the people who are supposed to care for us.
this is the wrong way to change an adult brief, you don't tuck the side furthest from you, you have to actually turn them onto their side and then roll the brief towards them, roll them back and then to the other side and remove the brief, the way shown in this video cause skin tears/shearing injuries when pulling the brief out from under them
Thanks for the video, great help. For me, with no practice it was easier to hear diaper. Of course I wouldn't use that in front of the patient. They didn't do either. Just for training.
No matter how hard I try, I cannot roll or move my mom. She becomes dead weight. She is no more than 100 pounds. I work out, and can lift pretty heavy weight. But, I cannot lift her.
My problem is that the front part is always too tight so I end up dragging it to not be so tight !! Am I putting the back part too high ? I don’t understand
Nice video, if only it were that easy in the real 🌎.
Dwllll
I agree
You can say that again
😂😂😂 with a real patient

i agree, i’m in nursing school and this is exactly what our teachers tell us to say instead!

So glad to hear that’s what’s being taught now. The best to you in nursing school! 😊
I say "undergarment" instead of diaper.

Good point. Thanks.
I laughed while looking at this. If it were only that easy. :)
Exactly
Yup
😂😭 💯✔💖
epecially with a dementia patient who's fighting you every step of the way and has no idea what's going on.

Absolutely much harder with a true resident 🙂
Right!!
Indeed, esp. when they are so frail to move even
Absolutely

Patient care/CNA’s are some of the hardest working people on the planet!!! They are definitely angels on earth this video was very helpful!!😇

I have a patient who prefers it to be called a diaper. To each their own. Can't please everyone, all the time.
This is definitely harder when they weigh so much more than you and cannot move their selves
I have the same patient she weight so much and so hard to roll her left and right and she have dementia
Me too same condition
@@FoodandWorkoutmy same situation too and I’m new
I'm new at this and my patient is a 235lb 6'5" tall man. There will be no one there with me to help me.

Thank you so much, I am learning a lot as a new carer

Please please please call it a brief...not a diaper! Do you want to wear a "diaper"?
I didn't know...😮
Where's the bed protector she cleaned the patient on the sheet

Thank you! This video was great for quick and simple instructions! Straight to the point👍
Thank you for this video ❤
Not easy when you gotta 250+ client who can’t really move
This is very helpful. Thank you for demonstrating.
Thank you❤
Yeah nice video but in real life its not that easy especially if you get a heavy client 🙄 and they can’t move their legs that much
This video is very helpful, l appreciate it.
