    Nice video, if only it were that easy in the real 🌎.

    Great video however I choose to never say diaper as I wash up my Mother I’m caring for. I had to politely ask a nurse to please say briefs instead as it makes my mother feel like a child and stirs up emotions of her not being able to take care of herself. I try my all to bring dignity in what I do to care for my mother. Not judging others who refer to them as diapers I just don’t with my mother and if I’m to care for others, I won’t.

    I wish you would show the method of rolling the paitent twords you for paitents that have no motor control at all. I had 8 years off practice doing this with my life late husband by myself and I would have caused injury to him if I would have rolled him away from me as well as to myself with the rolling away from me because he outweighted me by a good 37 lbs.

    Ma'am I have taught Nursing for more than 20 years, and have been a nurse for more than 30 years, and adults to not wear DIAPERS! This is a dignity issue, they wear briefs, incontinent briefs, or incontinent garments, or Depends. These people deserve respect, babies wear diapers. Also, why call it a "mess," just call it what it is, BM or urine.

    • @6wasuri2
      @6wasuri2 3 роки тому +6

      Nurse Bostick your point is well taken. I am practicing saying brief instead. I do wish you would acknowledge that this is good content, in spite of saying the d-word. For this family care giver, this demo is a god send.

      @simalou 3 роки тому +14

      Very often when I say to the patient “I’m going to change your brief” they look at me like they don’t know what I’m talking about. Then I tell them I’m going to change their diaper, then they understand. I was thought to say brief, but in the real world people think of briefs as underwear (fruit of the loom etc….)

    • @jborrego2406
      @jborrego2406 2 роки тому +6

      But they are diapers , atleast the ones I use. But I just call them underwear to pt .

    • @jaswinderjaswal
      @jaswinderjaswal Рік тому +11

      Why are we so emotional about the words used instead of appreciating the content and knowledge.
      99% of the world can easily co-relate the use of diapers ( adults as well as with children) rather than sticking with so-called medical jargon for dignity purposes.

    No way to live. If I even get close to needing diapers I have a rifle and know how to use it. I am 82 and just had prostate surgery 7 months ago. So far everything is good, but I had to have a catheter for a few months before the surgery, never again. It's one infection after another. There is just being alive and there is quality life. When the quality runs out it is time to leave this world. The doctors will do everything possible to keep you breathing as long as possible because they are making big bucks from your misery. Not for me. This country will not allow assisted suicide because there is a fortune to be made keeping people alive even if they are just a vegetable. It really is cruel and unusual punishment by the people who are supposed to care for us.

    this is the wrong way to change an adult brief, you don't tuck the side furthest from you, you have to actually turn them onto their side and then roll the brief towards them, roll them back and then to the other side and remove the brief, the way shown in this video cause skin tears/shearing injuries when pulling the brief out from under them
