    Be sure to have your soiled linen basket near you. I should not have placed the soiled items on the floor.

    In this business, we learned what we should do. But in many cases what we learned can’t be applied to particular cases. So we improvised and we keep doing our job. Time is one of the reason why we change things. Like when the patient/client throws up we can’t follow specific steps, we do what we suppose to do so the person doesn’t choke. It is really when the caregiver’s skills come in handy. Experience knowledge and not be afraid of doing what you feel is right even when it is not the same that we learn on our training.
    Never forget to take good care of ourselves as well. We always do for others, but we forget us.

      @@ritagrey3295 you are absolutely correct in all that you say. What we teach and learn often differ from what we do. HOWEVER, we should always maintain safety and infection control measures.

    They never do it in order and always explain what they would have done....instead of demonstrating the right way from the beginning.

      Thanks for commenting. I'm not sure of what you are saying. Are you saying the skill isn't performed right here?

    Easier shown than done when you’re new to this and your client is dead weight (Lord love them). Help!!!! I’m really struggling with dead weight. I’ve been a care provider for 16 years but this is my first client who is completely non ambulatory and who cannot help me at all.

      I will do a video next week demonstrating it on a live person. The procedure is the same. Period. Have your material available and use proper body mechanics. Please come back to watch. Thanks for watching and commenting

    Never put soiled on the ground. Have your plastic bag ready on the bed or trash can near the edge of the bed..

      Do it just as I outlined. Use the draw sheet to turn the patient. Make sure you have all your supplies and have them close to you

    You forgot to change your gloves after removing the dirt brief

    • @healthcareresources4573
      @healthcareresources4573  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for commenting. However, in practice I wouldn't have changed gloves during the process unless they became soiled. Most times we are working by ourselves and don't have the time to do that.

    Its so easy when they use a crash test dummy. No complaints, no resistence, crying. She even used another person to help. All these videos are weak. They dont address any real problem/ issues.
    Weak. Weak. Weak

      The task is perform the same way with a patient who is unable to assist. Do utilize your draw sheet and most importantly body mechanics helps. I will do a video next week demonstrating a real person. Thanks for watching and commenting

      Professionally it’s a brief. Using the word diaper can be demeaning and upsetting to the patient. Most people prefer not to be in the predicament of having to use them.Let’s try to preserve their dignity

      The quality of products has gone down because of this. Also the cost and putting a cloth back sheet, rather than plastic. Some are made still with the plastic sheet, but most insurances will not cover them. for high-quality diapers I recommend the Abena comfort plastic back briefs. Also a company called North Shore care has really good products. For wipes, I recommend prevail, premium washcloths as they are really thick. Yes I think when people are potty trained, they are taught unintentionally that the word diaper is a bad thing. The history is actually a pattern, the from a pattern of cloth. In the UK, they are called nappies like an napkin.
