As a german native speaker I have to say... that was pretty damn good. Just one minor mistake but her pronunciation is very very good. Just a subtle british accent and, of course, the "r" not quite right but other than that... really good and absolutely natural and fluent.
Edit: And then I remembered she used to work for Sky Germany... well yeah :D

@@MrSchwabentier Almost. English is the seocnd language you learn first in school. When Peter grew up German was still the mandatory 3rd language you learnt in Denmark. These days you still have English as mandatory second language from 1st grade but you can now choose which 3rd language you want. Not all school offer the same selection of languages though but that is typically solved by online classes these days. Any way, Danes typically like to learn languages just for fun, for example I know 8 languages, some more proficiently than others but it's a big World, and Denmark is a small country so why not, eh?
German's my second language. Almost every word of what she said was correct.
What did she say when the German replied in English at the end?
OK not exactly every word...but her german is really good....she said at 1:00 "bei uns (war) heute" but it should be "bei uns (warst) heute"...I think this is because she is not used to it, because the fist time she said the sentence correctly.

She just is capable first and has a musical ear second. It is just underrated that sound and rhythm are crucial to any language - even German :). Grammar and the same language family helps. She can take the jokes and I love her for it. But my kudos to Kate. It s rare!

Talented, because she knows some German and Spanish? Why monolingual English speakers are so impressed by that is truly baffling. All you need to do is put in lots of immersion hours. That's it. There's no special 'talent' to speak other languages. One only needs to see how many Scandinavians speak such a high level of English to realise that. There are also LOTS of examples of adults immersing in another language who go on to be quite competent. The trick is to actually _want_ to do it - there has to be a big desire for it, othewise you've got no chance.
@@futurez12 If you applied context you'd understand why English people find it so impressive. It's almost as if English is already the most widely used language, therefore there's no real point NEEDING to learn another language since it's pretty much universal. Almost everyone can speak English. Whereas not every country speaks for example German, therefore it's more impressive when we hear it.
